    Don't know if you read these anymore, but... wow. What a resource to stumble upon. These interviews are gold. No no, gold is cheap and filthy and disgusting compared to these... To find someone with integrity, willing to sit down in a serious way and spend this kind of time with these people - that's a treat in itself. But then to pair that with someone like Mr. Brooks... There are so many words that are so horribly overused these days, which of course, unfortunately, cheapens them, and 'inspiration' is one of those, but this interview is, to me, positively inspirational, in a way that's rare and precious. I feel immense gratitude. Thank you so much for making these available to stumbling-along shmucks like me.
    I'm so struck by the phrase "Tortured by high purpose." Maybe we're all too unfamiliar with such a shocking, achingly rare thing to recognize it properly, but even so, I can't help but feel there's something of that here. Thanks again, and I really do wish you the absolute best. Sorry for the length and wordiness of this. Cheers.

    Growing up in the 70s and 80s Mr. Brooks' shows were a big part of my television viewing experience! Thanks!:)

    This interview is a dream come true for me, to watch Kevin ask question after question about Albert Brooks and for James L. Brooks to be just as excited to talk about him over the years is my nirvana. Thank you. James L. Brooks has not just made me laugh, but has reached me deeply with his insights into human nature. Kudos to Levine for asking THE question, thank god the answer did not resemble Melvin’s.

    James Brooks is one of the most thoughtful people I've ever known about. I've always had that sense from what he's worked on but hearing him talk I realize just how deep he is.

    The other two sideshow people are a pointless distractions. Great work these recordings...they will be used as examples of a time when people had conversations. Bravo.

    Finally, a real talk show. love KPCS. Don't stop doing this show! It's the only real "talk show." I'm not even sure there's ever been "real talk shows."

      You might have a look at Conan O'Brien's Serious Jibber Jabber, which also has a longform format and is quite good.

    Hi Kev, I am new fan of your show, I love the natural way and genuine way you ask questions, you ask the questions we all want to know without attacking your guests.... I have just been on your website to try and download some podcasts to listen to and it keeps coming up with an error page when I click on archive audio - so far I have only listened via the UA-cam page, Thanks again for the show,Kev from the UK

    You have one of the Greatest writer, creator , director, and you can't shut up Kevin?!?!? WTF..?!?!?! Brookes is trying to get a word in edgewise.......

    • @gargantuaism
      @gargantuaism 3 роки тому

      You really don't think Brooks got what he wanted to say out? Why is it if the interviewer talks people always have to say how bad that is? Where is an example of this?

  • @nikos8004
    @nikos8004 10 років тому +1

    I enjoy that all of you criticize Kevin Pollak's interview style. But he's not Diane Sawyer, he's not even Oprah(who I find not very good as an interviewer, better mogul). But I will say this after a hundred of these you'd think he'd have a system. But hey that's why they pay him something.

    • @hugh-johnfleming289
      @hugh-johnfleming289 7 років тому

      Niko S Sawyer is awful, Winfrey is abysmal and they share that same agenda. Pollack does fine conversationally as long as he eschews politics. He listens and reacts to the guest which is sooooo rare now. No one listens.

      certainly they had a very solid reputation through the '80's until cable news hit big and the news department became a part of the entertainment branch of the network. Your sarcasm is noted but ill-placed.
