Mr. Brooks is one of the most gifted comedy writers of our time.
James is clearly an incredible writer and director, even if this interview when the interviewer slows up with how to ask a question, or can't get the words out, he helps her navigate the struggle and keeps the clip going with a rhythm.
James is such a legend and so down to earth. Love how he spins a story.
And this is probably the first interview I've seen with the Writers Guild where she just asked a question and let him answer without interrupting.
And yes. One of the great monologues in Prada. Such a moment.
I believe the book Brooks referenced about Fitzgerald and Mankiewicz was "Writers in Hollywood 1915-1951
," by Ian Hamilton.
I didn't realize how much James L Brooks has shaped my world! Every work he's mentioned has left indelible images in my head of favorite scenes. Thank you, Mr. Brooks!
You spark so much joy in my life.

Who is the interviewer?
Aline Brosh McKenna is the Interviewer/ Writer whose insecurity self-esteem induced oversized Ego interferes with Brooks' capturing center stage as the featured Star.
Wish she would quit interrupting
Like clockwork, people are trashing the interviewer. Stop it. There is not an interview on UA-cam without these lame comments. I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to interview him, but no need to take it out on everyone else.
