Tamiya CC-01 Landfreeder Hop Ups & Test Run

- I bought this Landfreeder recently, which came with some nice hop-ups.
But there were a few things I wanted to change and also add.
Thank you for watching : )
Music
1. Lemon Jelly - Come
2. Nat Keefe with The Bow Ties - Angeline the Baker - Авто та транспорт
Very well done! Great vid and pictures. And it seems to crawl very good (well, for what it is, a realistic CC-01). Makes me wanna do some work on mine. Last time I took it out the gears went ‘clicking’ and haven’t gotten around to fixing it. And Hello to your Mrs. 🙂 The Mrs. in the living room here commented ‘Good music’ when I watched the video 😊
Hello Mikael. Thank you very much. When I tested the motor and gears on my table after fitting the esc I had a constant loud clicking sound. It was because I hadn't tightened the pinion gear screw down on the flat part of the motor shaft so it was protruding out of the screw hole and rubbing against the spur gear. When I corrected this there was no more clicking. Maybe your pinion gear screw had unwound a little bit ? Angie says "Hello" to you and your family and I am pleased your wife enjoyed the music I chose for this video. I think it suited the mellow vibe very well 👍🏻🙂👍🏻
Holly Hill RC Thanks, I will check it but if I remember correctly it sounded like it came from the rear axle. I ran the CC for a long time without shims in the rear so maybe I damaged the bevel or ring diff gear back then. I had it shimmed but maybe too late. Yeah music fitted very well! And say Hello to Angie from us. Looks amazing with you two working on the hobbies in the same room.
congrats on your new rc very nice hop ups indeed well done have fun RCing
Hi Marshall. Thank you very much my friend. : )
Wow!!! It's good for your unique RC!!! Good job my friend~!!😁😁
Thank you very much my friend : ))

Awesome very good looking Truck 👍👍
Full watch and Like My Friend 👊✈️
Hello my friend. Thank you very much : ))
Fantastic job, Derek! The Freeder looks awesome and is so nice with your new upgrades and additions, the driver really sets it off - wish I hadn't smoked my Freeder windows after seeing this! That is the same motor I have too - the truck looks so smooth and realistic over the stones. I'm glad you decided to do more of the crawler type conversions, I reckon you will be really pleased with it when you get on some trickier terrain - it's never gonna be a match for a true crawler, but it sure is lovely to play with! Great video-making my friend, it was a pleasure to watch such a professionally put together video! Love the last clip - but don't get calling your lovely Angie "old"!!! :D
All the very best from your mate Mark! :-)
lol I actually meant old as in "been together for a long time" but it doesn't come across like that does it 😁 whoops! I enjoyed making this video and it was pre planned in my head before I started it. The garden run was impromptu because I was too impatient to wait for the Kong tyres, which incidently arrived today. I was pleased with the Freeder before I did my stuff to it, but I like to think that I added the finishing touches. Thanks for always leaving great comments Mark 🙂👍🏻
@@hollyhillrc Hehe - I was only joking my friend, I know you meant well really! I have been with my wife, Louise, about as long and I feel exactly the same !! We share a lot in common, nice to know it's not just me - keep on pumping out these great videos mate! Speak soon Derek... :))
Great looking truck and very good additions! I hope the tyres arrive soon 🙂
Thank you very much Nikki. The tyres were delivered this morning. : ))
Time for another test 😁

😁👍 Nice upgrades! looks great and will run much better now.
Thank you very much Steve 🙂👍🏻
Hello Derek .You did a very great Job.The Driver fits absolutely perfect and looks very awesome .I really enjoyed the test drive in the Garden .Fantastic Video Derek.
Hi Harry. Thank you very much for your kind words my friend. : ))
What a lovely-looking video this is, beginning as it does with that gorgeous studio-style shot of the gleaming Landfreeder.
I have the same driver figure, with blond-painted hair, in my Brat body - yet you´ve given yours a completely different character. The sheet of black card covering the electronics was a great touch - very easy to do, yet really effective at subtly making the build look that bit more realistic.
The shock absorbers came up well - they looked new by the time you´d given them the treatment.
I can´t wait to see the crawler tyres fitted to the truck...
Hi Del. Thank you very much for another wonderful comment my friend. I always look forward to receiving them and really enjoy reading them. 👍🏻👍🏻🙂
A work of art. You did a great job with the driver.
Thank you very much for your kind words my friend : )
Great job on your driver and your other mods Derek. Those barrel springs look to be working really well. Great job all-round mate. Hope your tyres come soon!
Thank you very much Rob. 👍🏻👍🏻🙂
I can definitely vouch for the Barrel Springs Rob. They operate much smoother. The softest set is still too stiff, but with extra Lead, it works!! 👍👍

Nice looking driver lol...great job...you did alot of work to this nice rc truck...looks really good climbing through the rocks..your videos are always so nicely done...really enjoyed..nice ending...as she slowly looked at you...nice work area....have a great day...Jeanie
Hi Jeanie. Thank you very much for your kind words my friend 👍🏻🙂
Nice work! The suspension works really smooth.
Thank you very much my friend 👍🏻
Awesome man that is a great looking truck
Thank you very much my friend 🙂👍🏻
Nice Landfreeder, did come with good bits. I got those barrel springs on one of my CC-01 and they are a good improvement. What old married couple, Angie give him a clump :-)
lol thanks Mal. I was lucky with this. It cost less than a new kit and is in great condition. The only things I have spent more money on are the springs and tyres. I had the rest in my box : )
@@hollyhillrc Not bad when you have the parts. Funny think I think I still have a unused set of CC-01 wheels and tyres somewhere as I use others.
I have always had the opinion that because I have more "capable" RC's I wouldn't bother upgrading my CC-01's. I enjoy the challenge of using them stock. But I have been looking for a Landfreeder body for my MST CMX chassis. When I saw this I thought it was a good price for what was included, and it would also be good to experience for myself the difference between a hopped CC-01 and a stock one, because I have only read about it and watched videos.
Impressive stuff take a bow sir 👍🏻🇬🇧🏎 lovely ending to I am a painter and decorator that’s tricky old chair to paint fair play. Great video as ever
Thank you very much mate. Angie has been buying this type of furniture locally from Gumtree, Facebook etc for low prices. She cleans them up and our daughter sells them on for a tidy profit in her shop : ))
Holly Hill RC that’s brill up-cycle love it 👍🏻👍🏻
Wow!!! I never thought I've see my old landfreeder on my UA-cam feed.
Awesome driver. Hope you like them sdi4x4 wheels. Cheers Jon
Hello Jon. Small world! I watched your Landfreeder videos some time ago and didn't put two and two together. It must be a weird feeling seeing your creation being worked on by someone else. I got it a few weeks ago and I'm assuming that I have bought it from another person as the diffs were unlocked and the chrome parts were put on, and I can't imagine you would have put the non scale Torque Tuned motor in. The front and rear upgrades are still doing their job very well and everything is still slop free in comparison to stock. In fact it is all still in very good condition. I hope you approve of my work and additions, and I am pleased you like my driver. One of the things that also attracted me to it were the wheels, but I couldn't find out what they were. So thank you for the SDI info. I must admit that I was surprised that they don't use hexes. I may just use these for light trailing so the slots for the pins won't wear too quickly. I will put the Kong tyres on some beadlocks and use hexes. I can assure you that it has come to a good home and will be well looked after. It sits very nicely with my five other CC-01's. These are all stock except my Pajero Metal Top which also has a 55T and Hobbywing esc, but they all have unlocked diffs. I have always had the opinion that because I have more "capable" RC's I wouldn't bother upgrading my CC-01's. I really enjoy the challenge of using them stock. But I have been looking for a Landfreeder body for my MST CMX chassis. When I saw this with all the upgrades I thought it would be good to experience for myself the difference between a hopped CC-01 and a stock one, because I have only read about it and watched videos. Thanks for letting me know the origins of this great RC Jon. All the best mate. Derek : ))
Well done..Great video.
Thank you very much my friend. Appreciate it 👍🏻🙂👍🏻
brilliant! very cool scaler with so many upgrades. good jobmy friend 👍👍 well done 😉
Thank you very much my friend. I will run it in the woods when the new tyres are delivered : )
í´m looking forward to your next run in the woods 👍 question: what´s the name of the driver with the eyebrows? 😉
Good question. He is a driver from the Tamiya Subaru Brat and didn't have a name. But the same body and driver was used on the original Tamiya Mud Blaster monster truck and he was called Rusty Rumpott. tamiyabase.com/tamiya-models/58077-58077
Holly Hill RC rusty sounds great 👍
great looking!
Thank you very much 🙂👍🏻
That’s a pretty sweet rig
Thank you very much Sean 👍🏻🙂
Great looking truck mate and some nice mods which should hopefully pay dividends on it’s first proper run 👍🏻
Thank you very much Charlie. It will never be an SCX10 but I really enjoy the scale feel and challenge when I run my CC-01's 👍🏻🙂👍🏻
I finally got to check out your Channel. That's an awesome CC-01 Landfreeder!! I've got most of those mods. The Barrel Springs were recommended by Matteo, and made a bit of difference.
I only Locked the Rear Diff, because I like tight Steering. Up Front, I used Associated 500,000wt CST Silicone Diff Grease. SO thick, BOTH Front Wheels are always pulling, but I didn't lose any Steering! 👍👍
Just Subbed!! Looks like you've got other good content.
Cheers, Carmine 💥⛽
Oh and great job on the Driver!! 👏👏👏👏😎
That never was one of my strong suit....
Hi Carmine. Thank you very much for checking out my channel and subscribing. I thought I would try locking the front diff because it has other steering mods done by the original owner, which include parts of the plastic trimmed to give a better radius. It turned quite well on this test. I will compare it with one of my stock CC-01's at some point to see if there's a noticeable difference. If there is I will do the same as you with the grease. I have just read your comment on Robs video about his FTX Hooligan. I have the brushless version. I accidentally smashed up the original body, so bought a replacement blue one for it which I prefer. Here's one of my videos of it. I had just started experimenting with slo-mo in my editing so it's not the best quality ua-cam.com/video/MbRyAbJGmrM/v-deo.html Have a good weekend my friend. Derek : ))
I'll check it out Derek. I've only got one CC-01, one SCX10, one Wraith. I like trying things on them. Part of the fun of the Hobby, right? 😉

The drivers r so hard to paint, I think u did an awesome job
Thank you very much Steve. That means a lot my friend. Appreciate it 👍🏻🙂👍🏻
I wish i could edit like you matey. The last few seconds of this video made me smile lol
Aww thanks Tibs. I wish I had your confidence and charisma in front of a camera : ))
Dude. I use to feel stupid just making videos whilst hidden behind the camera. But now i just dont give a dam lol
I just can't get near enough to the camera because my nose is too big for a decent close up lol : ))

Hello Jan. Thank you very much my good friend. I always appreciate it when you watch and comment on my videos. I hope you are keeping warm in your beautiful country 👍🏻🙂👍🏻
@@hollyhillrc I'm warm 🔥🙂.. Problems with my back so I have not been out since last Thursday..it's Warm inside.. Ha ha ha.. But bad back is normal for me, so I'm used to it.. 👍.. Take care my friend.. 🙂
@@rcjan56skogmo17 Sorry to hear about your bad back. I also have had a bad back for 35 years so I feel your pain. Hope you get better soon : )
It is Rheumatism...osteoarthritis..,hope the translater did good job..hehe..It`s chronic disease so it comes and goes, always there but some times very bad...That`s why i should live in warmer and more stable weather, but one learns to live with it, and you also know of it i understand. But there are more good days than bad..Thumbs up my friend, keep them videos comming..
Very nice scale big thumbs up my friend XD
Thank you very much my friend : )
@@hollyhillrc Hahaha your welcome my friend XD
Nice job Derek! 👍 I think that a 55T motor is still too fast for the CC-01 as long as you do not use a reduction gear unit.
Thank you Charlie. I agree with you, and was going to buy an 80T but I had a new Hpi 55T in my spares box. I may change it in the future 👍🏻🙂
Very difficult to paint a driver's eyebrows! LOL
lol it is with my poor eyesight and shaky hands! I used a pin to do them : ))
👍✌️😀
