What a comprehensive upgrade job! Now it's the equivalent of an MN Models KM. You did a great job of narrating the video, too, explaining clearly what you did, and why. I did find my myself wondering whether your clever use of shrink-wrap to secure the plastic leaves to the steel one might have stiffened up the rear suspension. I'm glad you have continued the old tradition of putting WPL wheels and grippy soft kit tyres on MNs : )
Hi Del. Thank you very much for your kind words my friend. That's a very good point about the leaf springs and heat shrink. I did it because I didn't like the way they looked so unrealistic out of the box, but now you mention it they could be stiffer as a result of the change.
Hi Derek, the good thing about doing all the upgrades on this truck is that it adds some weight to it to keep it nicely planted on the ground during your crawling sessions. As always, an educational tutorial video from your good self 👍
Thank you very much Peter. The body is heavier than the stock RTR chassis so these are good upgrades to have. The whole thing, including the upgrades only cost me just over £52.00🙂👍🏼
Hi. Thank you very much for watching this video. Unfortunately they are not oil shocks but they seem to work ok. This is my video of the M82 running with the upgrades ua-cam.com/video/bT9IfnmttVE/v-deo.html Oil shocks would be better though 👍🏼
this video has made me decide on buying this as my first ever RC, also i'm curious as to how long these things last? in runtime hours, do the motors fail first or do the drive shafts/axles etc fail first? are they really expensive to keep running or do they last months on end without any issues besides maybe the battery
So , with all the upgrades you made, did it make a noticeable improvement in handling and crawling. I still run mine stock except for the wheels and tires and still happy with it.
Hi. To be honest I didn't run it before I upgraded it. I got nearly all the upgrades and the MN82 in a spring sale from Ali Ex' earlier this year and the total I've spent so far for it all, including shipping and tax, is just over £54. So from that point of view I'm very happy with it.
7:24 interesting, on my axles, the outer bearings race are bigger and the bearings too small and not making contact, just floating lol, looks like they are correct in yours? There's more "meat" to the body, I wonder if they are made by different manufacturers... Edit: ok its the front axle, not the rear that exhibit this issue, I wrapped some solid core copper around the bearings as spacers
Hi. Thank you for watching my video. The axles came with a little grease but I did put a bit more on the diff gears before I installed them on the MN82. This is a link to my video which shows this ua-cam.com/video/At3xmAcosO0/v-deo.html I've been using a long life salt and fresh water resistant marine grease which I bought from a boat chandlery years ago, but most brands of marine grease online are the same. It's thicker than the usual "RC grease" but it works well and I've had no problems with mine all the years I've been using it.
Hi there, I want to replace the wheels on mine with some bead locks but I feel like the axels won’t work with most wheels, any advice on this, do I need an adapter?
Hi. Thank you very much for watching my video. You would need a set of 5mm to 7mm hex wheel hub adapters to use metal bead lock wheels (Injora's for example). Take off the MN wheels and slide the hex adaptors onto the axle where the MN wheels were. Then you can fit the metal bead lock wheels over them and screw them on. I hope this helps 🙂👍🏼👍🏼
Hi. Yes the grub screws I used for the prop shafts are are M3, but I made a mistake in the video. They are M3x4mm NOT M3x5mm. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍🏼👍🏼
Could you give a link to where you got the parts? Just picked up a MN82 and I already broke the front drive shaft so I wanna go straight to metal upgrades figured I’d definitely just get all these upgrades
Hi, thanks for watching. I got the metal parts from Ali Express. This is a link to the page with the choice of upgrades. www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-mn82-upgrade-parts.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.search.0 I got the 370 motor direct from WPL www.wpl-rc.com/products/370-motor

Be very careful with blue thread locker near plastic parts, I had destroyed 2 servos shell that way, it cracks the plastic, I reshelled my Surpass with the stock servo shells and that also cracked, better use a plastic safe CA based thread locker
@@hollyhillrc yeah just the fumes alone can crack the plastic nearby, I made sure to just apply sparingly on the screw and the metal servo mount, still cracked the plastic
I don't put blue threadlock on the bolt if it has to pass through plastic. I put a very tiny drop on a sewing needle and smear it inside the threaded hole of the metal part the bolt screws into. I make sure there's enough threadlock to cover the bolt threads when that's screwed in, but not too much so it squeezes back out and comes in contact with any plastic parts. So far this has worked for me 👍🏼

@hollyhillrc ... but if they are and you like it as it is, then what you did was to cleverly find a scale-realistic way to solve a problem : )
Ordered two and every upgrade i could find. Cant wait untill they arrive! Nice project for me and my son. Thnx for the "tutorial".
You're welcome. Thank you very much for watching. I hope you and your son enjoy them. 🙂👍🏼👍🏼
I just bought that same upgrade kit, and the motor plate, etc. Thanks for the tutorial!
You're very welcome. I'm happy I could help. Thank you for watching. Enjoy your Toyota 🙂👍🏼
Great video, Derek. These little trucks pack a ton of features. It's neat to see you go through it all. Cheers!
Hi Fil. Thanks very much 🙂👍🏼
Awesome video. Mines done yesterday. I've the wheels, but no gear parts. So your buid is ver helpful.
The grub screw hack's priceless👍
Thank you very much Dirk. Yes the longer grub screws can help you out of trouble 🙂👍🏼

WTF? £52? That is mega value for money for an RC kit 👍
I bought most of it from Ali Exp' when they had a "Spring sale" last month.
Could you share links where to buy pls
Nice work, looks sweet and good upgrades. Great detail.
Thank you very much 🙂👍🏼👍🏼
I also had to shim between the drive shaft and axle input shaft bevel gear, to eliminate play, otherwise it binds when it's compressed
👍🏼👍🏼
I enjoyed watching the video, looks great with the upgrades
I'm happy you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching 🙂👍🏼
02:34 😂 that's was funny.. nice job and very well explained
Thank you very much 😃👍🏼👍🏼
Nicely done mate, smart looking trail truck
Thank you very much Julian 🙂👍🏼
Excellente work and upgrades, the guy in the music video is definitely a rc guy😎☮️🙏🏽✝️🤘🤘🤣
Lol, he's great isn't he 😂😂😂🤘🏼 Thanks Lou 👍🏼👍🏼
Nice video, nice truck.
Thank you very much 🙂
Brilliant video mate .. thank you just i plan to do pretty much exactly same to my rc pick up 👍
Thank you very much my friend. Have a good weekend 🙂👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you for the detailed upgrade instructions. Did the oil shocks have enough fluid and dampening?

Hi great and clear video! Does the stock electronic handles the 370 motor well?
Thank you very much. Yes they do. I've had no problems.

interesting upgrades
Very cheap too. Thank you for watching 🙂👍🏼

I've had no problems with mine yet
Thank you for sharing a great video with a great car!!! ~~~^_^😅😅😅
Thank you very much 🙂👍🏼👍🏼
You just about replaced all 🙂
Almost. I'd like to change all the shocks to oil ones at some point 🙂👍🏼
Hi,what grease you use? And did you use grease on the new metal axels?:)

Very good upgrades

Hi Carlos. Thank you very much my friend 🙂👍🏼
I bought the 370 motor/metal transmission combo that supposedly from other videos I've seen just bolts right in - we'll see lol .
I decided to just go with the metal gears. They seem to be OK so far, apart from being very noisy 😂👍🏼👍🏼
does it lift the body to accommodate 70mm tires?
Hi. Thank you for watching. No these upgrades do not lift the body.

Hi yes it is 🙂👍🏼
Dont you need to upgrade the esc when you put the 370 motor?
I didn't and it runs ok.
