neon is a light maybe in the 60's the light was the tv in the corner of the room stopping conversation. May be he is angry because todays neon god is the mobile phone, which stops conversation as well as distorts reality. And we have not learnt anything from the message.
Until the end of the music video, I had the feeling that those two guys had made a bet on who could watch and listen for longer with a straight face. I’d give an award to both of them. For a moment, I thought the right window was a still image, not a video, but then one of them moved a little (and the other blinked).
Paul Simon said that Disturbed's version of his song was what it should have been in the first place. It's the only cover that he's given his stamp of approval to.
This song is basically a requirement for any music reaction channel, and I love watching how different people respond to it. I can spend a whole evening just watching different versions. I found it absolutely fascinating watching you guys. I've never seen anyone betray so little as they watched. Loved the historical context from the original song and the interpretations of the lyrics as well!
The best part of their commentary is that they let the performance finish before stating their opinions instead of interrupting the song every few seconds like some other people do. Thanks and keep up this method in the future.
Wow. You people are delusional and understand nothing about how the human brain, youtube, copyright fair use clause, or, probably, anything else works. I thought I was autistic, but you guys make me look neurotypical. Go to professional music review sites and have StreamElements Text to Speech Brian read those reviews to you. There will be no pausing, unless you want to pause, the opinion will be a bland overview of the piece as a whole with afterthoughts... Just the way you like it. What you seem to want is a first impression review. Not a live reaction. Those require pausing not to miss anything important by talking over it and in-the-moment opinions on specific bits of a song. I pity you.
I love the interpretation of this that Disturbed has, so different from the original - the first time I heard it, I was shocked at the anger but I was also so much more cognizant of the actual words versus when I listened to the original.
David Draiman... imho one of the best male vocalists on the planet. He has everything in that voice of his.... beauty, power, range and control. Can sing rich baritone and clear beautiful tenor... not to mention the power of his "distortion" , on which he can actually put vibrato ... which is incredibly difficult to do. Worth mentioning his fantastic performance.
LA ESTUPIDEZ HUMANA TRANSFORMADA EN HUMILDAD, ABSOLUTAMENTE ESTALLA EN LA CONCIENCIA Y ELEVA LOS SENTIMIENTOS, MARAVILLOSAMENTE INTERPRETADA, ARRANCANDO DEL ALMA LA MEDIOCRIDAD. SUBLIME, VOZ Y MÚSICA UNICA, ETERNA.
Paul Simon heard this and said without doubt the best cover ever of this song, ours was a warning this was the punch in the throat to bring it home. Stay safe from UK.
You guys did great in your commentary!! Thank you for listening all the way through- the only way to truly dissect something intently. Thank you for your comprehensive breakdown of the songs depth.
Todd Hoffman does an excellent cover of this song with his videography accompanying the song, but this is my favorite because of the passion behind David Michael Draiman’s voice.
Isn't that just phenomenal? One of my favorite covers of all time! I'm here checking out your BTS reactions, but had to watch this one. It's the only thing I've obsessed over, besides the guys, in the last two years. The live of this from the Conan show is definitely worth a watch, whether you react to it or not.💜
Listening to you guys talking about the artistry and philosophical implications of this song’s lyrics (which is often overlooked by reactors), I strongly recommend you check out the band Tool, if you’re not already familiar. Their music is deep, complex, philosophical (and sometimes simultaneously angry or even just silly), and very, very open to interpretation. They are also inhumanly talented musicians, all 4 of them. Many first-timers start with “The Pot”, but it’s not even close to their “best” song. Would sub immediately if you embark on a Tool journey. The “Tool army” usually shows up in droves, if you want to grow your channel. BTW, I’m a spine surgeon myself. And yes, I listen to Tool in the OR. 😁
I had a few comments But All I'm going to say is this and I know you both will agree. Anton chekhov said the role of the artist is not to answer questions but to ask them.
I agree with most comments here, and highly recommend "Into the Light" and "Hold On To Memmories" before diving deeper into the older Disturbed selections. Going unprepared into their older, heavy metal and imagery can be both shocking and disturbing for those unprepared! Peace.😊
Love the musicians finding their instruments. One picks up a musical composition. In the end the musicians cross the casem to reach the composers. I'm betting they weren't silent anymore.
Excellent review. May I recommend, 'Into the Light' it's more heavy metal but has a good message. Disturbed deals a lot in mental and social issues. If you haven't been exposed to the acapella groups two I recommend are: Home Free (country based) and Voice Play (known for theatrical videos).
The Neon Gods..... following the powerful and ignoring the ones who are exposing the truth of society and situations... the prophets (urban poets) who write the graphity on the subway and walls... the messages that come out from the poorest areas. We follow the IDOLS produced by the industry of music... and ignore the real artists making music and expressing the reality of life.
I didn’t think it was a Viking ship. I thought it was more like Noah’s Ark, carrying the instruments and music and art into the future, even though they tried to silenced them
I definitely had a different understanding than Dr Myles. Also, saw the last clip as the musicians joining the folks with the sheet music in order to make music -
Very nice reaction guys. Disturbed is a heavy metal band that do not normally sound mellow like in this video. Some of their tunes you could tryout are; 1. Stricken 2. 10000 Fists 3. Down With the Sickness 4. Indestructible ... and many others. Enjoy.
Thank you so much, Australia!! We love Australia. Such a beautiful country. Nik Bogduk is a very famous spine specialist in our field and his office used to be in Newcastle, Australia. I (Grant) went and worked with him in Newcastle and he remains one of my favorite mentors to this day. Thanks, again, for the very nice feedback!
Love following you on your journey. Another incredible Cover of this song you must hear is from an A Capella Group called Pentatonix. You will love them!!! 😳🔥♥️🇬🇧
Bravo!!! I agree 100% people should feel what they feel when listening to songs -- even if what they feel is not exactly what the song writer intended. I have viewed a lot of reaction videos to this cover, which I LOVE, and I am so saddened when I see others shutting down the reactor's interpretation. Wow. Btw, I found your take on the boat at the end being a Viking ship. My opinion was that it was a metaphor of Noah's Ark, because the few people and musical instruments and sheets of mussic that were salvaged in this now dystopian world were put on this boat. Hopefully the boat is on a journey to improving our world and restoring what had been destroyed. Yeah, thaypt is just my opinion and hopefully theremare as many opinions on this song as theremare listeners. :) That is the beautiful part of music --- it is more than just words put to a melody. Music should move you -- make you feel. Thank you for this video!! And thank you for not interrupting the song. That was a nice change to see vs many other reactions I have viewed. Seeeing the expressions on your face was way more meaningful to me. :)
Simon & Garfunkel's version of this song was a plea to people to unplug from technology, at that time TV, and return to communicating with others. This version is pissed off people didn't listen to the message. Look where we are now. Nothing but technology and no compassion or empathy for our brothers and sisters in this world.
Not sure if you have seen Pentatonix but you should watch their cover of this song… magnificent!! Disturbed is also one of my favorites with PTX just edging them out, in my opinion. ❤
@@performanceinitiative great reaction. Thank you for covering this song. I just found your channel today and appreciate the way you watch the whole video and then talk. I love Pentatonix. They are incredible live. Some more of their songs that are worth a listen: Sound of Silence Mary did you know Amazing Grace/My chains are gone My new favorite- Creep. The first sang this song on the TV show- The Masked Singer. No matter what they sing they just bring it to a knew level. Thank you again and I look forward to watching all your videos!! ❤️
If you like this kind of redefining cover of hit sings then perhaps look at Johnny Cash doing 'Hurt' by Nine Inch Nails or John Farnham doing 'Help' by The Beatles (preferably with The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra from 1989, which is by far the best live version)
I looked through your reactions and I didn't see THE most reacted to song ever....Nightwish, Ghost Love Score-live at Wacken 2013 (must be that version)
I think there are words used that I call fillers, at the same time, keto the theme on tract and this weird are not meant literally like the 'neon gods'. The word Neon helps with the theme but if you take it out and just have "gods they made" its more to the point and of course the 'Gods' we make a a society will change with time for example right now could reference Hollywood star, social media, ourself, etc. Some people try to take every word literally and then lose context of it as a whole.
Good discussion. Love how you guys think, so maybe you'd like to listen to Morissette Amon's version of "Could You Be Messiah", a song from a musical written by Freddie Santos entitled "First Name". This song was written by Gary Valenciano with words by Freddie Santos. I'd love to hear your reaction to this song. Thanks!
Loved the reaction! Just one small suggestion if you don't mind - I think you should try to find a different way to show yourselves during the song itself. It was a tiny bit disconcerting or something to see you staring straight out of the screen at the viewer. Maybe a slightly different off-angle camera? I think it could go a long way. Just a suggestion!
Strongly disagree with the analysis of the video. The video portrays a post-apocalyptic world in which music has died off. The journey of the video begins with the uncovering of various musical instruments. It then begins to focus on those who write music and shows that a world without music and musical instruments is a silent world. Lastly, the world understands the importance music plays in rebuilding and the video shows the journey of those who play music to reunite with those who write music, thus the first step in bring a nearly dead world back from the brink of annihilation. Another message we must take from this video is the importance of keeping music alive in our schools. Music programs are always among the first to go when budget issues arise and cuts need to be made. I was a “jock” in HS and I’ve raised two boys, one an accomplished athlete the other an accomplished musician. We must always fight to keep music alive!! 🙏💙🙏
that is a personal preference I saw them both... both are equally good in my opinion. I like the video.. because you can see the visuals of music... which is the weapon to fight this fight, and is the symbol of how we can connect the world.... we don't need to speak the same language to connect.... we can talk without words... through music.

finally people who don't interrupt the song for 10 seconds to say something meaningless. 👍🤘🤘
Until the end of the music video, I had the feeling that those two guys had made a bet on who could watch and listen for longer with a straight face. I’d give an award to both of them. I have lost count of how many times I've watched this video. It still gives me chills and tears. The video intensifies the meaning of the song.
Possibly the best cover of all time!
Wow, straight in, no long, irrelevant intro. No interrupting every 5 seconds. I think that I might have found my reaction channel.
I'd prefer a brief intro including their prior knowledge of what they're about to watch
They way the song should be sung. With poewr and strong raw emotion.
I love watching peoples facial changes during the song.
at least at the very end they changed a bit. Never saw a reaktion with so emotionless reaktion during the song.

That version I don't like, just my opinion
David has the most beautiful voice. I love it and he is a cutie
Gotta check out their performance on Conan, even better!
Was just going to say this
Neon God = the TV.
This song is about man's disconnect with man.

The Ark of instruments was being delivered to those that held the sheet music.
