First thanks for watching and commenting Danya. As for the second portion of your comment. It is always tough deciding on how to present it. I like to present (keeps it interesting for me) it as a time travel piece. IE you are travelling to this time period to experience things as closely as I can make them to how they were recorded. Unfortunately that means i may label a sea differently and I realize not everyone is as good with geography or history as me or wants to do the research after. What I can do is add that to the descriptions of future videos. For example, this series take place in what is now: Mostly Iran, parts of Iraq, Syria, Armenia, Italy, Israel and Egypt.
parthian empire, the empire that fought rome to a stalemate and manage to crush rome ambition in the east, sad that it is hardly study in western academics, its always about hannibal, the gauls and the germans when it comes to rome enemies in western universities.
Awesome, but I should note something really important here, the name “Parthia” is a title not their actual native name. Their native name was “parnian” and the land they settled was called “Partho-wan” meaning “the land of the sunrise” or sometimes can be translated as “the natives of the East” the word “Parthia” comes from the word “Parth” alone means “those who’s shot never misses” in the ancient Iranian language and has Sanskrit Roots. During their wars against selucia and later the s title was given to them by any other Iranic nations they met. They we’re greatest horse archers of ancient times ,just like their cousins the Scythian. Also you forgot to mark the Farataraka’s kingdom on the map from 295 b.c. To 220 b.c.
Did you watch the start? I mention that literally first thing i talk about...first part is even called rise of the Parni :) i go into detail on where the name came from.
Yore History yes you mentioned Parni but you didn’t mention why they were called parthian (ofc you didn’t knew it, but later you can add this information to your later videos) that wasn’t their native tribal names nor their lands name, we don’t care about the western names stock on people by historical inaccuracy, that’s why you should have mentioned the current name of their lands too, which is parthowan. Is like someone call Washington , washingmachine, wouldn’t sounds weird to you? Parth is an adjective not a name (Parth-I-an in plural form) It never used in Iran, it was probably how romans heard of parthians horseback skills, like “these warriors are Parth” in Iranian language mean “these warriors are unmatch archers” and if romans of that time used to hear this a lot, that’s where the Latin name Parthicus comes from (Parthia). It’s not an age we ignore eachother, as much as we learn English language and history correct, you should start learn our language and history correct, only because romans sources wrote something doesn’t mean they were correct and smart all the way, they probably didn’t knew much about other people’s and languages outside Italian peninsula. It’s same with these historical terms, if you have a channel you could start teaching the correct information to your viewers. Because we are able to communicate and you are able to understand the meaning behind cultural linguistic values.
@@Keyhan-c8c I did mention it :) They took the name of the Satrap of Parthia which was not their native land and they adopted their language. I mention this all :) I don't go into extreme detail on it but all of it is mentioned. Thanks for your additional information great for those reading the comments. As for me I have studied it extensively and do know :) With videos I usually have to omit some details for pacing etc but their original name and their new name I do cover. My main goal with the Iranian history videos is to bring the history of the region to those people who grew up watching movies like 300 or other movies where Iranians were the "bad guys". So yes I do use latin/english pronunciations but on occasion if I can find the original pronunciations I will use them. Like for example, Darius. I used his old Persian pronunciation at the start. Do you know of any Farsi language history channels where they pronounce the names? I could use that for future videos and do a dual pronunciation.
Yore History ok that’s something a lot of Iranians care about, including myself, but also the future people of the planet would be intressted in ,the eastern moral and culture are kinda unknown to the western people, that’s why many of the facts goes missing in the western movies, and sadly in Iran most of movies today are about Islam or family dramas, I hope your channel grows fast, your work worth’s a lot to the people. realized you have good knowledge of the history of the region ,no doubt about that, I just added these details in the comment to say the Latino name of Parthia is not the same as the native Iranian word for that region. But its not rare anyways, many cultures names are changed when they are heard by other nations. I myself use persian sources, I use to watch a lot of documents from Afghanistan and Baluchistan to get a better idea of how the parthian words usually pronounced ,since they are very close to eachother. My documented sources are these, one is called “Deh khoda” dictionary. Is all the Middle Persian words gathered by a persian scholar few centuries ago. Also I look at Zoroastrian dictionary for knowing the right pronunciations, i never could find any direct left overs of an ancient achamenid times, there only sources of the ancient Persian sites and tablet plates are translated by pr.zacharia zitchin and pr.Irving frankel that are also available on UA-cam and I always watch, the professors usually read the tablets in the native tongue for the audience.but one other and actually really good one is here, you can look for their vids on Avesta-pahlavi ,middle persians, Medes and Ancient persian and all other ancient and modern languages. Edit: the channel I used to watch is removed, it was called “I love language” I assume they made a new channel, so if you wasn’t to follow them ,I think they are adding all their old videos soon.
@@Keyhan-c8c I now understand what you meant and appreciate your input. Thanks so much for your sources. Too bad the old channel is gone but I will try to find the new one. I will also try to find the others you mentioned. Hopefully once I have some additional time I can focus on learning to read as well as speak. That will make research much easier. Fun fact, all the houses of the royal Parthian houses claimed ancestry from Cyrus the great, Achaemenid Persians and their goal was to resurrect the Achaemenid Persian borders.
It is also interesting that his grandfather was the last Media (Mada) Scythian king.
Were that Parthians Iranians from present day Iran, or were they Iranians from present day Tajikistan?
@@AK-fe1lu Thet were Iranians. Don't be jealous bro, and Scythians are also Iranians. Dude you sound jealous in your comments, and after 2 years not one person liked your comment. Persia is great.
Love learning history of Persia and the Middle East.
Already have the first two episodes of the Persian Sassanid empire up which is the new series :) More coming in January after the 2nd person Yore History as a XX series episodes this month!
Unfortunately, it is not true. Their history is full of lie and fake histories and this fake history make, Iranian minorities like Persian people, a racist nation and they think they are the best and GOD creat them to be boss for the world but if you look at them today, you will not see anything, that you read in their history.
Thises histories mostly made up by freemasons to defeat Turkish people inside Iran, who had great empires in Iran over 2500. This meaning Iran is originally belong to the Turkish nation not Persian and Persian still are a minority in Iran.

Last time I heard such an accurate narration, it was by an Archaeologist and not a Historian. That's really impressive (I'm usually nagging under the posts by history channels lol).
Cheers mate. Thanks!
Fantastic documentary, Yore! (just worked out the pun on Yore name..I like it!) Great pacing to this, methodical and clear. I like in particular the images you have sourced. The way you have displayed them is a serious inspiration to me. I will be looking to find some of these and use them in forthcoming artistic projects. To me, this period of history has always been vague and I feel like an archaeologist unearthing an important find. It feels like I have found a serious piece of the puzzle that is our collective history and I haven't finished watching it yet! Bravo, Sir... Many, Many Thanks

hey Yore History, I gotta say that I've really missed this channel. About a month ago my smart phone was accidentally destroyed and for the last few weeks my internet consumption has been quite limited. Hopefully today though I will be able to binge a bit. Anyways i was just wanting to say that this is a channel that I've actually missed binging, Cheers Amigo.

@@YoreHistory that's awesome Bro. I had started watching this Parthian Empire video, but then I got called into work. I also just wanted to say that I had tried being a Patreon to your Channel a few months back, but I'm pretty sure that the payment didn't go through. What had happened was, I had actually gotten my identity stolen (i.e. bank account info). Apparently, One should be very careful when using certain ATMs in the U.S.A. @Yore History Great video! I really like how you had the dates in the top left of the screen throughout the first half of the video. Is there any chance that you would add that to the second half of the video? Thank you for your hard work!
Hi Alan,
I resorted to mostly reading out the dates in those last videos but have returned to it with the new series (Ottoman/Sassanian). However, its not possible to retroactively go back and add it to an old video. Once it's up, UA-cam doesn't allow you to make any additional changes other than trimming.

Luv these ancient history tutorials. But,,wish they add modern geographic names wen describing the land this history took place
