Elvis. The only artist to be inducted into the Hall of Fames for Rock N Roll, Country and Gospel. He always gave 110% of himself and never just “phoned it in”. A very humble man who didn’t care for being called the “King”.

Elvis was the most photographed person in the world when they had cameras.
Elvis truly the King of Rock, which is shown by a number of his outstanding achievements. It is estimated that Elvis has sold more than 1 billion record units worldwide, more than anyone in the record industry’s history. In America alone, Elvis has more than 140 different albums that have been certified gold, platinum, or multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Elvis has also had 149 songs to appear on the Billboard’s Hot 100 Pop Chart in America. Of these, 114 were in the top forty, 40 were in the top ten, and 18 were number one. Internationally, Elvis is no less famous. This is quite a feat considering that he never recorded his songs in other languages and, except for five shows in Canada, he did not perform in concert outside the United States. Despite all of this, Elvis is known worldwide.

He had this written for him. He was on a movie set when he learned of Martin Luther King Jr's assassination. He was devastated.
Then two months later Senator Robert Kennedy was also slain.
They were two of the greatest allies in the Civil Rights Movement.
This aired in December of 1968.
It is said that after this performance he quickly exited the stage and went and sobbed in his dressing room.
He only performed it live one other time I believe.

Elvis is one of the best singers that has ever lived. He was also a fabulous entertainer. There is a reason he is called "The King". He had a great voice & could sing anything whether it was ballads, gospel or rock. This song "If I Can Dream" was a tribute to Martin Luther King after his assassination.

Last night I watched the audition concert from Hawaii 1070 where he was doing a charity concert for Cancer he didnt have a specific amont to charge the audience for the rehearsal concter ,only asked people to give what they could,by the end of the show Elvis told the audience that the goal of his concert was 25 thousand that night of just the rehearsal they received 75 thousand, even before the real concert, when he did the real concert he bought his own ticket for 1000 dollars, This is just a fraction of his generosity, you never see this in famous singers nowadays ,thats for sure,Godbless Elvis❤👑👑👑👑👑❤

I am positive that I've seen this performance well over a hundred times, and it never fails to give me goosebumps and I just sink into it every time. And as a musician and a singer as well, I can tell you that it is so difficult to express that much real emotion while you are singing because once you cross a certain line with your emotion, it literally makes it difficult physically to sing.
Think about when you get emotional and it suddenly feels like there is a big lump in your throat and your sinuses and your eyes start tearing up. So it is a perfect marriage of great songwriting and fantastic arrangement and just an astonishing emotional performance.

An album was made of the 68 Special. Written specifically for Elvis as the final song for the special. Elvis was distraught at the assassinations of MLK and RFK and the producers wanted a song that would reflect Elvis’s feelings. And they sure did it! The song is iconic. Elvis sang this beautiful song with soul and passion.

Elvis sang this song on a tv special in 1968. It was written especially for him for this special. Elvis was upset about the assassinations of MLK and RFK earlier in 68.
The producers and his handlers did not want him to sing this, but Elvis felt strongly about the subject matter.

Saw this the first time it aired on national TV, the 68 comeback special was a big deal back then and it revived Elvis' career big time after so many formula movies the colonel forced him into. Elvis was happiest on stage and loved his fans, the famous well known video of him doing suspicious minds in his hotel casino show when he goes out into the audience and kisses like 30 women kinda shows it. Elvis was once quoted as saying after being warned the girls would tear the shirt off his back "if they want the shirt off my back let them have it, theyre the ones that put it there"

This song and maybe, more importantly, the night on which He sang it was so significant to the American civil rights movement, MLK having been assassinated earlier that year and troubles still prevalent in the streets the producers of the show told Him NOT to sing this song but He did it anyway!

Just finished watching your reaction to if I can dream if you can try to watch how great thou Art Grand Rapids 1977 that is the last live. Filmed concert of Elvis he would be dead two months later the reason I’m asking you to react to it was because I remember that day some 5060 years ago seeing him do that on my TV set and has a very young teenager. It move me like I had seen before. It was like Elvis‘s voice touched me with the hand of God. Little did I know I would lose my hero two months after the viewing of the TV special. I was so blessed to have seen them in concert, and I’ve loved him all of my life, the definition of a hero is a person who changes your life for the better, or change the lives of those for the better well, he certainly changed my life he was One of life‘s greatest blessings. Thank you for sharing Elvis, and for appreciating his genius, his humanity, his kindness, and his gracious loving heart God bless you young man.

1:50 You don't see it listed because the only time it was ever performed was during that 1968 television performance. And it was a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, who had been assassinated not long before, and not far away from where he live at Graceland. He was devastated by it and insisted on doing this as the finale of the show rather than the Christmas song that his asshole manager and some of the other producers were insisting he do. And it's gone down in history as one of his greatest performances. It's just stunning.

It was reported Elvis cried like a child after Martin Luther King's murder. 'If I Can Dream' is in reference to MLK's famous 'I Have A Dream' speech. He was known to wear a dark red neckerchief to signify spilled blood in remembrance of our fallen during the Vietnam war. Elvis wore a white outfit resembling a reverend suit and the red neckerchief to pay homage for both Dr Martin Luther King and assassinated civil rights supporter Senator Robert F Kennedy. Other than when RFK's brother (President John Kennedy) was killed, the world was in mourning like I had never seen before or since. Elvis sang what we felt. Senator Bobby Kennedy announced the death of Martin Luther King in what is one of the most memorable speeches in American history. Please watch: "Robert F Kennedy Announcing The Death Of Martin Luther King - A Great Speech"

The KING of ROCK and ROLL was inducted into 5 MUSIC HALL OF FAMES, recorded almost 800 songs, stared in 31 movies, sold over 8 Billion records, and took time out in 1958; while at the heighth of his career to go into the Army when he was drafted! Can anyone tell me another entertainer that would have gone into the Army at the heighth of his success? He was stationed in Germany, where he met Priscilla, by the way! NEVER THOUGHT SHE WAS RIGHT FOR HIM! He received so many, many accolades and awards that the Encyclopedia Brittanica could NOT hold them all! lol, ha, ha! I know ALL of these things because I was alive from the very beginning of his career until his horrible, untimely death! He was and still is the GOAT! I suggest that you go back to the very beginning of his precious life...dive deep down into the ELVIS rabbit hole! Learn about the KING of ROCK and ROLL, who not only revolutionized MUSIC, but he revolutionized SOCIETY! This man changed it ALL! PLEASE do him the service of finding out about his LIFE and MUSIC! I will start you off...He was born in Tupelo, Mississippi and lived there until he was 14, when his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee to find work! He grew up very poverty striken. That is why he could sing "In The Ghetto", with such passion, because he grew up in a ghetto! A ghetto can be anywhere...and he experienced it in Tupelo! Things did not improve in Memphis, where he lived in the projects! HOWEVER, I have only given you a tidbit of his life; you must NOW DIVE deep into that rabbit hole called ELVIS PRESLEY! It is worth every bit of research that you can do! After all, this is the KING of ROCK and ROLL that we are talking about! GOOD LUCK!!! I truely enjoyed your reaction to this song, but there are 788 before this! That was just a guess, so all of you people that will jump on me and say it was a different number, I was just being cute...but it is close, lol, lol, ha, ha....HE WAS SPECTACULAR and a MASTERPIECE of a man! After all of these years, I have yet to experience anything that comes close to the musician, the singer, the dancer, the charismatic man, and the unbelievable humanitarian that the KING of ROCK and ROLL, ELVIS PRESLEY was! He was, is, and always will be the KING of music, as we know it TODAY!!!

Really enjoyed your heartfelt reaction. It is a very emotional song..... for him and everyone listening. I remember the day he died and my regret for never having seen him live. But he lives on in my heart.

Powerful and beautiful! Even though he was called the king, I don't think he got credit for his vocal range. Thanks.

Definately go listen to In the Getto live. Some info... Did you know Whitney Houston's mom was one of his back up singers during early years and his drummer became Neil Diamond's drummer.

i wish i can hear this for the first time again, because i had the same reaction you did. i always grew up with the "elvis has left the building" Las Vegas persona, but growing up hearing more of his music for myself made me realize i never knew that he could actually sing.... like SING!
and in my opinion Elvis Presley is undoubtedly the greatest live entertainer/performer of the century

I love watching reaction videos. I was a lucky kid. My granddaddy played bass fiddle guitar and mandolin for bands that came to our town. Stevie wonder, ray Charles , bob segar ect.. my mom loved queen, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, my grandmother loved Dolly, Reba, randy Travis, Kenny Rodgers. Country music. So I grew up listening and loving all kinds of music. My granddaddy always said if you love music you can appreciate a great song and voice no matter the genre. So growing up I listened to music popular while I was growing up. MJ, prince, Madonna, Cindy lauper, then csme Nirvana, Pearl Jam ect. However I listened to my granddaddy music my moms music grandmas music. I loved it all. So I love that people are going back and listen to music they have missed. I love when I get to hear something new. It’s getting rare for me. Cuz I was exposed so much already. But love watching others listen to the best of music.

This is one of my favorite Elvis songs. This and "Love Me" are my top 2. "Trying to get to you" is also a great one. Elvis gave everything he had on that stage, you can see how spent he is at the end. Great reaction.

Out of all the 39 #1 hits Elvis had, the only Grammys he ever won were for his four Gospel albums. Check those songs out! 🙏👍😁❤️

This is what I personally consider Elvis's greatest song performance..What many people don't realize is that Elvis wanted to do this song in honor and remembrance of Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King who were assassinated earlier in the year.

Please OH PLEASE react to ‘If I can Dream - Celine Dion and (hologram) Elvis’ singing together!
Celine suffers from what is known as ‘Stiff person syndrome’(autoimmune neurological disorder) which is incurable.
So two music moguls in one, singing a POWERFUL message is amazing on its own.

This TV special was his comeback to singing after stopping tours for 7 years to act in films. His entire output during that time period after he came back from serving in the Army until the 1968 special consisted of soundtrack albums

SalvoG, again your reaction (emotions) were evident on your face. You were taking in the words, processing the emotions and watching the most wonderful man deliver a heartfelt song from HIS heart. Elvis was truly troubled by all the unrest in 1968. MLK was killed in his hometown not far from Graceland in April and during the filming of this TV special, RFK was killed in June 1968. This song was his way of expressing his sorrow during those troubling times. I REALLY hope you continue to research Elvis, he truly is an American treasure!
