His attraction to young girls wasn’t very healthy as a fan that’s something that’s coming out more which I have a conflict with but from what I can make out all the rock stars of that era had attractions they should not have had

@@jenniferlloyd9574 I was never really a fan (kinda not my era, I was born 1980). The saddest part of the movie, which I don't know if its true or not was Elvis not being able to go and travel the world..

@@MarcGrayTWOOMElvis was not able to travel the world thanks to Parker is all too true! Dirk Kuijk, alias Tom Parker, fled Breda in the Netherlands after murdering his former employer, a female store owner. Since then he lived illegally in the U.S.A. under the false name Tom Parker. His family in Breda didn't know if he lived or had died until they saw a picture of him and Elvis. Parker couldn't leave the States and therefore could not book concerts for Elvis outside the U.S.A. He didn't want Elvis Presley to visit other continents because that, according to Parker, would upset his fans if he came to visit their countries but didn't give concerts. Parker didn't work for Elvis but Elvis Presley worked for Parker! Parker had almost total control over Elvis and his life. His father Vernon Presley should have protected the young Elvis but he was too weak and too dollargreedy. Elvis Presley was too kind and too loyal for his own good.

What a time in history. Sorry to say we shall never see the likes again.
Elvis was truly unique and sent from God but with every video I see of him I yearn for those 1960s/1970s times back again. What a horrible, nasty world we have turned into and I feel so sad for the youngsters who will never know the feeling that watching and hearing this great man, gave to so many people.
Looking back now it could almost all have been a dream.
There’s not many of Elvis’ family and close friends left now so to them those times must also feel even more unreal.
I’m just thankful that I was alive when this great man walked the earth. RIP Elvis. You are greatly missed.

This footage of taking the less congested path, the behind the scenes hotel’s personnel spaces, shows an Elvis that knows the drill, but enjoys just being Elvis…greets employees as he passes by, signing for a fan who is smitten to nearly incapacitated…lol….
It was more than looks, just the whole being. He had his eccentricities, but seemed to truly be approachable, kind and aware of those around him. He knew their stories and families and respected everyone.
What a face indeed. Not a face you’d soon forget.

People rarely come along showing real concern for others , if you want to hear people who knew this man , view Joe Namath telling Johnny Carson, how Elvis took Joe’s father and had a meaningful conversation. With Joe’s Dad and this was the lasting impression of Elvis , on Joe, likewise with Muhammad Ali , they had a very personal relationship, they both knew the other for their respective talents, and acknowledged the other.

With great respect, your views of Presleys personal life don’t bear critical scrutiny. He lived a disconnected life as he was detached from meeting ordinary working people and business folk, the sort of people who make the world go around. I never remember him making any speeches about current affairs, or writing articles about the challenges facing society. Yes, Elvis had a limited education - and was certainly not an academic, but all during his career, I never remember him ever articulating concerns about anything. The press interviews were all about him - his films - clothes - girlfriends etc. I can’t ever remember him volunteering to do any any work for any organisation or travelling to any location in North America where there was a problem. He was ‘cocooned’ in film studios and entombed in his mansion called Graceland. For me, his career ended in 1963, after that date, his movie and singing career plateaued out and then went into decline. He desperately needed a change in direction in his career by 1965, so he could become a more rounded entertainer, but sadly that never happened.

      @geoffm9944 Рік тому +3

Totally disagree! Presley was completely disconnected from normal life and working people. Tears and hugs are not symptoms of empathy but are superficial gestures. Let’s be honest. Presley wasn’t living a normal life because he didn’t have to lift a finger. Everything he wanted in terms of women was secured by his ‘mafia’ handlers and ‘yes’ men who were on his payroll! He didn’t have to do any real physical work because of his immense wealth and super stardom status. He had no marital responsibilities once his divorce came through. He never had to worry about paying bills or indeed taking any financial responsibility for anything as he was ‘managed’ by Tom Parker who took care of all of Elvis’s affairs. Thus Elvis was a free agent, who could indulge his whims to his hearts content. He was a man who wanted for nothing and could buy whatever he wanted, without any self restraint. I would contend that this lifestyle was destructive because of its narcissism.

@@geoffm9944 Elvis started from poverty to his way up, the Colonel did help him, but also worked him like a mule, it was Colonel's doing. Elvis did the best of what he could, but of course when the option is there one would take it. Did they have a maid? Yes they did. Was she loved? Hell yeah, like family! Did they pay her? Damn well! Elvis did do physical work, he was performing on stages. While Colonel wanted to make more and more money, Elvis wanted enough money to care for people and his fans and instead give himself to his fans. He even thank his fans for putting a shirt on his back saying, "If my fans want my shirt they can have it, for they put it on me in the first place". Do you know a life as a performer especially a successful one? Elvis could easily take all the money and keep it to himself, but nah, he gave his friends Cadillac's, a free Cadillac to a stranger who just eyed his Cadillac, a woman with no legs who was broke a free wheelchair and everyone cried, those in need money, a limo driver the limo, and much more. Nowadays, sure there is charity, but you rarely hear that especially from one person. Robin Williams hired homeless people on set so they can gain and work for money, he gave scholarships to those in need for free (Think Anne Hatheway was one) same with Denzel Washington and that's how we got Chadwick Boseman. There's so much one can give or take if they're rich, let alone successful and it all depends on ones heart! Elvis gave more than take. He was doin the business and in turn gave his love to his fans. He gave 100% nearly every time unless he was sick. Never slacked! Only manipulated and tricked and forced. He had control, but not as much as one would think hence the Colonel or him making bad movies even if he didn't like it or even go to the army which killed his mama.
Elvis wasn't born rich with everything, he was born broke with nothing. He worked his way with his skills and talent. Also woman? Everyone wanted him, he didn't really have to get someone else to get himself a woman. Disconnected from "normal" life is true once he became successful because he was a big icon, but he still worked himself as a normal person with a dream, skill, talent, and dedication do also got a big heart who denied being on top and being on the same level as everyone besides as a performer. Working people? He paid them fairly and treated them fairly, it's not like he was a dictator. Yes men? I agree now and then he had yes men simply because he was Elvis and huge and he didn't like that. He wanted *real* people, who he can rely on and such. Being such an icon can indeed give many different images and being a selfish, heartless, just wants all the fame and fortune with no love can easily be misinterpreted. Elvis ain't like that at all. He didn't even liked being called The King "There's only one king, and that's Jesus Christ."

Elvis was perhaps the most unique individual soul, to ever incarnate on planet earth, next to Jesus of course. He was close to perfection in many ways but, he was human after all and flawed. As happy as he appeared, he was deeply lonely, uncertain of himself and troubled about his relationship with his Creator. He wanted nothing more than to know his GOD and understand life itself. That was the basis for the majority of most of his reading and thirst for knowledge. Like the rest of us, when we come in to this world at birth, we have forgotten everything we knew in the past and Elvis was no exception to this. It happens at every incarnation we experience. It will keep happening until one day, we actually temember who we are, as Jesus did.

It was this time of year right before my 2nd grade year. My mom told me he had died & I cried for a days, on and off. I couldn’t even start school when everyone else did. I was so upset bc I was supposed to see him in Tulsa soon. I used to say goodnight to God, Jesus & Elvis until I was quite old. Lol! I always felt, even as a young child, that he was a tortured soul & had he never became famous, he’d have been happier. He smiled & laughed but always seemed sad to me. God bless him… goodnight Elvis.

I blame Rubert Murdoch and Steve Dunleavy who were on alert for just such an opportunity ---disgruntled ex employees of the world's biggest entertainer willing to spill the beans in exchange for enough cash. It cannot be believed by any stretch of the imagination that, by agreeing to pen a tell-all book, the goal was to help a former boss face his addictions and demons. Those are private issues and exposing someone's personal activities to the world is humiliating on a scale that's off the charts and serves as no motivation to fix one's life. Murdoch and Dunleavy were a couple of worthless and sadistic pr*cks looking to take down a superstar for their own sick, demented reasons. I truly hope there's a very special place in hell reserved just for them.

@@CSAccetura Elvis was the one that kept them afloat while they worked for him. They had plenty from him ... being catered to, cars and jewellery etc. The Mafia in the end, became too expensive and he had to let most of them go. None of them had real jobs to turn to so unfortunately, the book they wrote was the only way for them to get some readies in their pockets. No wonder Elvis felt betrayed by them.
