You probably thought of Gary Jules who also sang Mad World and that version was in movie "Donnie Darko".
this was megadeth's version of the black album (more commercial and polished than earlier albums, but too good to be mad at)

Hard to say pinnacle when their actual peak was the album prior. But that is a killer track all the same.
Both albums are quintessential. This track is mainstream metal, perfect warm up . Ashes is the best from Megadeth IMO.

Dave didn't like the way he sang but couldn't find someone who could do what he wanted. Rather than pay someone else to be 'not quite right' he took on the vocal part. I'm glad he did. I've always liked the way he sings.
Countdown To Extinction WAS Megadeth's break out album into the mainstream, and yes there are a few off that album that were radio play worthy. The album was basically Megadeth's Black Album.

Return To Serenity by Testament would be great. Phenomenal song with a totally phenomenal guitar solo by Alex Skolnick. The studio version are the best. Think they shortened the guitar solo in the original video. A metal Ballad by one of the best thrash bands ever

I absolutely love the mix of this Album. The crunchiness of the guitar tone is amazing. I don't feel any band has replicated it since. Some will say its too clean but something about it just makes me happy.

Reckoning Day is an interesting one to give a listen to, all the key switches and Dave testing out his vocals and all.
Although i know Roland wrote that song Judson played i always think of REM when i listen to it, and this time wasn't different.
This is the second time, I think, Judson brings up The Beatles with Megadeth, namely in the seeming nonsequitur nature of his music and lyrics. Very cool, especially since I've been spending my entire life figuring out what makes MD such an instrumental (pun!) band for me. I think that's a big part of it.

Actually Countdown to Extinction was the first Megadeth album to be recorded on digital. That helped them a lot with the drums and the solos; there was a making of or something like that explaining this.
The making of VHS video is called Exposure Of A Dream.

Interesting to see how his mind processes the music. A more subtle indication; even though he might sit still for a moment, his eyes will bounce left and right, as if he’s tracking his hand movements on the keys. He hears the notes and subconsciously his eyes are finding their respective locations on the piano.
I’m a little surprised you haven’t played him Queensryche, Take Hold of the Flame. I know a lot of folks have done reaction videos to it, but most of them are Vocalists. I heard him say something about his dislike for Jon Oliva’s voice. He doesn’t like those high shrieking registers. It would be interesting to see him process Geoff’s voice, plus being an overall classic metal song. Cheers!

It isn't the most complicated song ever, but it's a good one. But man, can Marty Friedman design and play a guitar solo. His stuff is always interesting to listen to.

For a more recent Megadeth song.. I would highly recommend "Poisonous Shadows"
To me there are just some songs that have that epic feel.. like they are intended to be played in a mega theater in front of hundreds of thousands of fans.. complete with a backing orchestra.

Oh no it's the remastered version with those plastic drums. For some reason it's also missing Marty Friedman's guitar harmonies which are supposed to happen every time the chorus plays a second time in a row. Crucifixion time :)

I thought his piano was Offspring - 'Gone Away'. I like other older Megadeth albums as a whole better than Countdown, but as individual songs some of my favorites are on Countdown. Ashes, Captive Honor especially.
