Good to see this one didn't make him angry like Angel of Death. Fun fact: Since splitting due to creative differences, Kerry King's hair has been living on Jason Newstead's ranch and is now a qualified helicopter pilot.
I think Raining Blood is the one song where the King solo makes sense - I have always thought it was the perfect ending of the album and song - it represents the chaos of the battle and the war for heaven. I mean the entire album kicks your ass and it is great to go out on just pure adrenaline and anarchy. Wish you would have played Postmortem with Raining Blood...always thought those were kind of one song and blend together great.
Oh, yeah! I have no idea how I came to stumble upon that song, but I immediately bought the album and was not disappointed. It sent me down the rabbit hole of doom for a year or two, but in the end I found it a little too depressing and I just had to move on.
Cradle of Filth is like that, imagery heavy, both lyrically and musically, particularly in their concept albums like Cruelty and the Beast. Of course, on a first listen, you won't pick up on it, but when you listen, then go back a read the lyrics, every future listen just gets better and better.
You're absolutely right, Judson! All those crazy notes at the end, the bending of the strings, that really sounds like Jimi Hendrix. I never thought about it!
I love the process of covering a whole song by ear on piano because it lays bare what you hear and prioritize in the piece. Every cover is unique to the listener doing the covering. Now that I've heard the first minute of the video, I'll shut up
After the reaction of Angel of Death I was confused and I don't expected to see Judson doing another reaction of a Slayer song. But he did it and I appreciate this reaction because it remindes me why I like Slayer. For the part in the solo, for me both of you are right, but for me the solo match perfectly with the song. We are on a chaotic song and the solo IS chaotic, it don't really match musically with the song but it match by the atmosphere. This is why I appreciate it.
Slayer keeps you on your toes when you listen to them. Have to wait and see where they take each song musicly. Love the fact you guys discuss the song in depth after. Great insight to your guys thoughts of songs. ✌️🤘
I kind of agree with Richard. I understand Slayer solos are meant to be chaotic, but they've done it in most of their songs which makes it repetitive and uncreative to me. For that reason for solos, I put Megadeth, Metallica, Testament, etc above Slayer.
This must be the best reaction ever on youtube. Why? A smart and skilled person don't look down or get to theoretical. This feel like an aproval of the artist and the art form what there skill level is. Slayer is magic, Slayer is the best heavy riffs ever!
When Judson brought up Polpot, I immediately thought of the Dead Kenndys' song, "A Holiday in Cambodia." I wonder, does Judson think that song is as offensive in terms of content as Slayer's "Angel of Death"? The last trip I took with my late father included a couple weeks in Cambodia, as well as Thailand. We did visit the killing fields in Cambodia and saw the terrible monument to the atrocities; a pillar of thousands of skulls of the dead. The 20th century is sure full of horrors of our own creation; I worry that with such subjects being "taboo" that we run the risk of forgetting the past. After all, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
Most people love Slayer, its cuz the fact that they are Kings when it comes to really fast, thrashy and catchy riffs and tempos. In that regard i strongly recommend "At Dawn they Sleep" from Hell Awaits album.
I'm feeling Linus on this one I like the abstract guitar sounds and the noise it's crazy sounding and adds chaos to the song...a scream with musical instrument... madness.. A release of a emotion thats been bottled up inside
This really is the most interesting reaction channel ive watched. And ive watched an insane amount XD I really wish we would see more proggy'ish metal like: Meshuggah, AAL, Igorrr, Car Bomb Thanks for the entertainment
Hi Great Measures, You can´t fool me mister "J" . As a metal born child, I can see your soul and you are full of greateness, brightness, humbleness, and is missing the darkside a little bit. thatś why "the rain in the end" healed your vibes. Come to darkness Go Antrax ! The final great 4 ! of your metal initiation. Take care this stuff Richard ! In your hands rests Great Measure Metal Initiation 's destiny .
I had a feeling Judson would come around with this track. I'm especially interested in seeing if he ever finds something in this music that puts influence on some of his own work.
Fwiw I'm not a fan of mash ups, but there is one of this song mixed with the B-52's Rock Lobster that is honestly one the greatest pieces of music I've ever heard. It's by a guy here on this platform called Bill McClintock, and the video is titled "Reigning Lobsters" It's amazing! 🖤
I think the way he throws out the pieces is very similar to films based on images (like la jete) or single images displayed in a frame or two in films like Fight Club or The Exorcist. They have to choose a descriptive thing to occupy a second of your thoughts and then give you space around It to burn the visual into your brain. Rather than some fluid flowing thing gently washing over your memory, Slayer is rhythmically pounding images into your brain with force. It suits the material better.
any song off of slaughter of the soul implements way more tempo changes and utilizes way more complicated techniques and such than any song on master of puppets
I suggest Helloween 'Keeper of the Seven Keys', Blind Guardian 'And Then There Was Silence', Riot 'Thundersteel', Accept 'Fast as a Shark', Arch Matheos 'Neurotically Wired'.
Putting in my request for "Intro to Reality/Belly of the Beast" for Judson's initiation into Anthrax's music. I think it would be a great reaction for him because of the switchups and tempo changes. Great lyrical content, too! Have a great weekend guys!
Score !!!! I think I got Judson's piano intro this time around the 5th note. 🎵🎶 Not too far off joking about the Carole King bit, Judas Priest did cover Joan Baez's Diamonds and Rust . That would be a great one for Judson to hear 🤘
@@valentindonkov9585 thank you. you are correct, and, I saw the video I clicked like on it. I guess my old brains memory has a less than 3 month lifespan.
I'd bet Judson would be blown away by a Sepultura song from the Arise album. Along with that in the more extremes, the riffier bands like Necrophobic or Deicide might be good picks too.
I love your guys analysis. Slayer is not my favorite band but they do have a classic thrash sound. Here is an idea. Did you know Tori Amos did a cover of Reign in Blood? its just her and a piano. Its not necessarily metal, but her take on that song is super unique and very different. Please do an episode breaking down Tori Amos take on Reign in Blood. It will blow you away!
FUCKING SLAYERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! i started metal with iron maiden at 12 then discovered this album and it blew my mind.any chance of a nose at some classic metal, kings x "pleiades" living colour "memories can't wait" or any of the absolute belters off voivod's "dimsension hatross".as for slayer pls do "mandatory suicide" great reaction chaps have a good day
Judson the thrasher
And a Kerry King apologist as well 😅
😂
😂😂😂
🤘🤘🤘🤘
2:27 lmfao "oh great, what's this one 'The Gulags'? YAYYY STALIN!" 🤣🤣🤣
Good to see this one didn't make him angry like Angel of Death.
Fun fact: Since splitting due to creative differences, Kerry King's hair has been living on Jason Newstead's ranch and is now a qualified helicopter pilot.
Dude needs to hear "Seasons in the Abyss"!!
I think that is their best track
Spill The Blood would be neat too.
Already did
I really appreciate Judson picking up on just how impressionistic Slayer is with their lyrics.
'Creating my structure
Now I shall reign in blood'
then goes the chaos, and guitar chaos...
I think Raining Blood is the one song where the King solo makes sense - I have always thought it was the perfect ending of the album and song - it represents the chaos of the battle and the war for heaven. Electric Wizard - Funeralopolis
Oh, yeah! I have no idea how I came to stumble upon that song, but I immediately bought the album and was not disappointed. It sent me down the rabbit hole of doom for a year or two, but in the end I found it a little too depressing and I just had to move on.
Yeah, or Sleep. Try some sludge or doom stuff.
Slayer - Metal Storm / Face the Slayer
Slayer - War Ensemble
Slayer - At Dawn They Sleep
Slayer - Ghosts of War
Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss
Slayer - Chemical Warfare
Slayer - Captor of Sin
Slayer - 213
Slayer - Spirit In Black
Slayer - Mind Control
Slayer - Spill The Blood
Funnily enough, I first heard Raining Blood (and Slayer as a band) in Guitar Hero 3 back in 2007/2008.
Same here
When the fast riff came in I failed instantly
GTA radio for me. Vice City I think
haha you guys make me feel old
I learned of Lamb of God from Guitar hero 1...amazing how that works.
Slayer shows the world going by in a strobe-light, instead of a spotlight.
those twisted and sick riffs are what makes Slayer so special
Love when Judson cracks on Richard’s mom. Sorry Richard and Richard’s mom. This channel is like me and my buddies sitting around. This was rad!!!
Same lol did not expect that one
The live video of that when the skies open and the blood pours is fantastic to watch and to see the joy on Tom's face....brilliant!
Cradle of Filth is like that, imagery heavy, both lyrically and musically, particularly in their concept albums like Cruelty and the Beast. Of course, on a first listen, you won't pick up on it, but when you listen, then go back a read the lyrics, every future listen just gets better and better.

So true about the imagery . . . makes sense, now that I think about the look of their album covers. Thanks for a great reaction!!!
It’s a bit like Jimi’s Star Sprangled Banner-rendition with the bomb noises he makes
I love the process of covering a whole song by ear on piano because it lays bare what you hear and prioritize in the piece. Every cover is unique to the listener doing the covering. Now that I've heard the first minute of the video, I'll shut up
Stoked to finally see more of Judson reacting to Slayer! 🤘🏼🔥
After the reaction of Angel of Death I was confused and I don't expected to see Judson doing another reaction of a Slayer song. But he did it and I appreciate this reaction because it remindes me why I like Slayer.

such a groovy song dude, you can ALMOST dance to it
Show our man some Mercyful Fate from Melissa so he knows where all the slayer switchups come from!!
Yesss! So happy you like Slayer the best 😊
The best duet on metal reactions I can know. Great
Belle ouverture d'esprit bravo les gars ! 🗼
I love the dual cameras... nice work guys
I think seasons in the abyss is a more digestible song to introduce slayer to none metal heads
It's so interesting that a pianist, who has a whole different vision of music than a metalhead like me, can appreciate Slayer as much as I do
After telling Mr. J the title I half expected him to say “OH A BALLED!” 😂
Slayer keeps you on your toes when you listen to them. Have to wait and see where they take each song musicly. Love the fact you guys discuss the song in depth after. Great insight to your guys thoughts of songs. ✌️🤘
I can't believe you left that guy waiting at the door for over 20 minutes.
The last line was, “Now I shall reign in blood”, close enough to be the title track
I kind of agree with Richard. I understand Slayer solos are meant to be chaotic, but they've done it in most of their songs which makes it repetitive and uncreative to me. For that reason for solos, I put Megadeth, Metallica, Testament, etc above Slayer.
We are here to witnessss, Slayeaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!
This must be the best reaction ever on youtube. Why? A smart and skilled person don't look down or get to theoretical. This feel like an aproval of the artist and the art form what there skill level is. Slayer is magic, Slayer is the best heavy riffs ever!
Crypts of Eternity

I love his smile at the breakdown
This song and masters of puppets came the same year, 1986. Great year for metal
Throw Hands with Heaven is definitely a future album title for a band, lmao.
Oh we need a Slaughter to Prevail "VIKING" reaction. The live version!
I've never thought about the end of this song too much before, but for those of us in the put we typically just worry about our well being then.
I think that Alison Hell by Annihilator would be a nice following to this one.
Pretty rad!
Sounds like Holiday In Cambodia should be next on Judson's plate
This really is the most interesting reaction channel ive watched. And ive watched an insane amount XD
I really wish we would see more proggy'ish metal like:
Meshuggah, AAL, Igorrr, Car Bomb
Thanks for the entertainment
Igorrr seconded
One of if not the greatest Slayer songs all time
Fuck anthrax how about Testament
check out "dead skin mask" or "War ensemble" either of which has a definite underlying theme.. 2 of their best.
Hi Great Measures, You can´t fool me mister "J" . Oooh HE SAID POL POT!!! mandatory Dead Kennedy’s reaction to Holiday in Cambodia
I think Judson is ready for Devourment! He'll love it!
I've heard a lot of people hate on Slayer's "solos". Personally, I love them, wouldn't trade them for anything!
I had a feeling Judson would come around with this track. I'm especially interested in seeing if he ever finds something in this music that puts influence on some of his own work.

It's amazing! 🖤
It's interesting that he likes Slayer so much since they are pretty much the antithesis of classical music
Metal in general is more familiar to classical music then pop music, so not thaaat much of a stretch.
Hey man! I just wanted to listen to some Slayer? Didn't think that beautiful piano piece of U2's One would make me wipe away tears? LOL.
He gets it.
imagine when he listen to show no mercy and hell awaits, the 2 best slayer albums
There are some cool songs on show no mercy, and even more Hell Awaits, but Reign in Blood is better. And Seasons in the Abyss is even better
Can we get that in a metal band style t shirt? "Viva la Cambodia" - Pol Pot
Anyone else think the main riff is reminiscent of Grieg's In the Hall of the Mountain King?
The whole song has a classical feel. Albeit, a dark one.
The end solo.... chaos.... I assume is the war on heaven raining blood.... it is a perfect ending.... chaos
Judson likes the abstract noise, some early Mr. Bungle should be right up his alley!
I would actually recommend None of Them Knew They Were Robots first.
I think the way he throws out the pieces is very similar to films based on images (like la jete) or single images displayed in a frame or two in films like Fight Club or The Exorcist. They have to choose a descriptive thing to occupy a second of your thoughts and then give you space around It to burn the visual into your brain. All part of the satanic programming for sure
I would love to hear your reaction to vagabond by Vildhjarta, or some more mastodon would also be really cool. Love your videos!
Mastodon-Hearts Alive
Of Tesseractual Gateways and the Grand Duplicity of Xhul - Wizardthrone
Man, this dude get the things straight!!
Slayed measures!
I really think its time to start dream theater 😢
I concur
Deliver us to evil-Exodus
Fear no evil-Trouble
Don’t burn the witch- Venom
At dawn they sleep-Slayer
All hail the two guitar attack!
Since he’s such a fan of tempo changes - I think Disposable Heroes will be his favorite Metallica song so far. Go for it
Yeah Disposable would fit in that sense or Welcome Home or Leper Messiah :D Judson has to Hear 'Em All!
any song off of slaughter of the soul implements way more tempo changes and utilizes way more complicated techniques and such than any song on master of puppets
Most Metallica fans don't even know essential albums like Slaughter of the Soul lol@@wyzlight2028
Or songs from dilinger
I suggest Helloween 'Keeper of the Seven Keys', Blind Guardian 'And Then There Was Silence', Riot 'Thundersteel', Accept 'Fast as a Shark', Arch Matheos 'Neurotically Wired'.
Pnioooooouuuu 😂
"One of these days" ❤
Sense that Judson is already more deeply connected to metal than Richard. Love his take on the solo.
Putting in my request for "Intro to Reality/Belly of the Beast" for Judson's initiation into Anthrax's music. I think it would be a great reaction for him because of the switchups and tempo changes. Great lyrical content, too! Have a great weekend guys!
Melhor disco de thrash metal da história 🤘
Recommend the band Night Verses for future videos. Specifically something off of their latest album. My favorite is probably Karma Wheel.
Interested to see where Richard goes next on the Slayer journey 🤘
I really enjoyed your version of "One"!!! Too short. 😁
As a pianist, Judson should hear the Tori Amos version of this song. 😄
Score !!!! I think I got Judson's piano intro this time around the 5th note. 🎵🎶 Not too far off joking about the Carole King bit, Judas Priest did cover Joan Baez's Diamonds and Rust . That would be a great one for Judson to hear 🤘
Some Sepultura thrash too? Inner self
PLEASE do Dream Theater!
"Under a Glass Moon" is incredible and has one of the best guitar solos you will hear.
You should do "Straping young lad" one day. Song "Love?" Would be good choice 👌
And Deadhead
@gtrplyr67 i think they allready did deadhead 🤔 "aftermath" is super cool too.. or " the new black"
@@valentindonkov9585 thank you. you are correct, and, I saw the video I clicked like on it. I guess my old brains memory has a less than 3 month lifespan.
Slayer is the Stephen King of metal.
I’d say the Clive Barker of heavy metal
I'd bet Judson would be blown away by a Sepultura song from the Arise album. Along with that in the more extremes, the riffier bands like Necrophobic or Deicide might be good picks too.
This song was in GTA Vice City, and I'll be DAMNED if it's not in GTA 6... Well... I'm already damned. But You know what I mean!
Not a fan of thrash but heard this song for the first time playing Vice City just as the hurricane weather came on and nothing could be more perfect
Way to show respect to the national anthem of thrash metal
Dead Skin Mask should be next
S.O.D.
my fav part of this song has always been @ 7:45
You guys should give Heilung - Krigsgaldr a listen.
000 000 headbang incoming
FUCKING SLAYERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! i started metal with iron maiden at 12 then discovered this album and it blew my mind.any chance of a nose at some classic metal, kings x "pleiades" living colour "memories can't wait" or any of the absolute belters off voivod's "dimsension hatross".as for slayer pls do "mandatory suicide" great reaction chaps have a good day
S E P U L T U R A Dead Embryonic Cells, please 🤟
U2's One in the intro? That's some tonal shift :D
