That's a weird take, for the reason that Metallicas melodies, arrangements and harmonies are way better then Megadeaths, especially looking at their 2,3,4 albums... if Megadeth is for Musicians then why is Metallica the most covered band with classical orchestras?
@@MiguelGarcia-vj7oo Metallicas early arrangements satisfaction comes from mostly Cliff who was a fantastic inspiration to james and kind of kirk since he also had a decent bit of musical knowledge. The word "megadeth" is used to describe an event killing one million people. It's a term used to describe the affect of a nuclear bomb. Dave read it on the bus ride from New York back to LA after being fired from Metallica. He wrote a song, originally called Megadeth, but eventually took to the name for the band and renamed the song 'Set the World Afire.' Two songs you will eventually need to react to are, 'In My Darkest Hour' and 'Good Mourning/Friday Friday'. Two classic Megadeth songs off two different albums. The first four albums had three different lead guitarists and three different drummers. Each of their styles are different and is reflected in the early Megadeth sound. Max Norman is insanely good, a genius. He built Megadeth a studio to record Youthanasia. He mixed my favourite punk record too - Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues by Strung Out (not the reissue)
I find the verse riff of this song is absolute insanity from a compositional standpoint, I love it. He covers more ground on the fret board while singing than he does during the rest of the song 😅
Dave was playing the riff you reference 6:00, I think he called it the spider crawl riff. Friedman does the very melodic solo's, the flamenco style one, also Friedman at 10:21, Dave is mostly blunt force, does the last solo. You should watch the vid, it shows who plays what.
You guys are my favorite. I’ve watched this many times but had to watch it again because I LOVE Megadeth and LOVE to see those hear them for the first time that also LOVE it. Please do Ashes in your mouth next! My favorite Megadeth song and a compositional masterpiece.
@@StormbringerMMRust In Peace is not as creative as Master of Puppets, nor does it have as much variety. Every member shines on MOP, ROP just has Mustaine and Friedman showing off mostly.
Marty Friedman and Dave Mustaine are both great players! If you want more of Dave’s work some of his best work are the solos Wake Up Dead, Devils Island (second solo), My Last Words, and Five Magics (last solo). Marty Friedman has been in a bunch of bands and has many amazing solos, but his best Megadeth solos are probably Tornado of Souls, Lucretia, Hangar 18 (this song has 11 solos, a mix of Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman), and The Killing Road. If you do check out his solo career stuff, in my opinion his best song is Dragon Mistress! :)
I don’t understand why some people can’t accept that both Megadeth and Metallica are phenomenal bands. Each band has their place in the world of music.. As a drummer, it hurts to see so much hate in the comments anytime these two bands are discussed. I see music as a healing and uniting experience.
I've ragged on Lars plenty of times, but he is/was a good drummer who made some very memorable contributions to the world of drumming that modern bands are still emulating to this day. I've come to appreciate Lars more as I've gotten a little older, Metallica wouldn't sound like Metallica if you replaced Lars with someone like Dave Lombardo or Joey Jordison (RIP🙏). I'm a big fan of both Metallica and Megadeth, they are foundational bands in my metal journey and I appreciate both for what they are. They are legendary bands for a reason!
Wasn't what I expected I'm wondering some real inevitable headbanging in my friend with the explosive riffage. I said to you five magics would be better 😅.
I'd love it if you guys did a reaction to "OPETH - Ghost of Perdition (LIVE AT RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATRE)" I'm curious to see what Judson (?) thinks of the song and the band. Plus then we'll get his little rendition of it next video or something. haha Also side note about Megadeth. The band isn't nicknamed "MegaDave" for no reason. lol
Dave does the intro lead live and plays the fast, main solo. The solos between the verses before that fast solo are all Marty. For radio style hits, Megadeth had Countdown To Extinction and Cryptic Writings
Was looking up the lyrics to this song a few days ago and now UA-cam is giving me all these reaction-videos. Looked at a lot of them just out of curiosity and I don't think I have found a single one where the person listening to them had a negative reaction. I guess Megadeth is just one of those bands that we can all agree is great, no matter what genre you normally subscribe to. Next time you should react to the video as well while you listen to the song. Their songs are great on their own, but I feel like it's taken up a notch when you can actually see Dave and the guys playing as well, particularly in a live-video.
I saw them back in september. This song is played live almost exact! Few things different but I think because it's their closer and dave introduces each member. Interesting note. Guitar player has only with this band for short amount of time. I think his 3rd show was when I got to see them. They were awesome!
This is by far my favourite Megadeth song by a mile I love it and it was great to watch you discover it and really like it. I can tell you there is no better way to feel alive than to be right in the middle of the mosh pit at 135lbs soaking wet when Megadeth play this 🤘🤘
Totally agree 100%! Testament and Avenged Sevenfold would be seconds for me when it comes to thrash! I feel that way about Led Zeppelin and 70s Aerosmith for classic rock!
Wow this man should react to some Rhapsody, mostly from the first pentalogy (Legendary Tales, Symphony of Enchanted Lands, Dawn of Victory, Rain of a Thousand Flames, Power of the Dragonflame), as it is orchestrated (Symphonic Power Metal), and has a lot of classical influences. Surely one of my favorite bands ever.
I too always saw Dave as a guy who wouldn't step out of the spotlight until Dystopia (Megadeth's 2016 album) came out with a song called Conquer or Die, an instrumental song where he plays only the rhythms while Kiko Loureiro, current Megadeth's lead guitarists plays a masterpiece. I highly recommend it, and not just because I'm Brazilian such as Kiko and a fan of him hahah
15:32 i love his body language Reaction there to the giant whaling guitar drone after the solo ends. (u know which one im talkin about;) such a mind-bender Great reaction as always !
The first reaction I ever saw on YT was this song by the Lost in Vegas guys (the OG reactors). I'm not a big fan of Mustaine, but that album is a perfect album.
If you wanted a more radio type of song, check out the song “I’ll be there for you” from the concert “that one night” live in Buenos Aires. Dave is phenomenal.
This song just became more relevant in the last few few days… God help us! Dave has been “awake” to how the world works, for quite some time. Fortune teller metal..
I love the concept! Loved the video, watched every minute. I have two gripes. The first one, you played the 2004 remaster for him, which is universally derided by die hard Megadeth fans as an abomination lol. Especially late in the video when he mentioned how much he loves that older style metal production. On the 2004 master, Dave went in, scooped the mids out, cranked up the volume on everything (killing the dynamics), blasted the vocals in the mix, and even had to re-record some vocal tracks where the originals had been lost. The 1990 master is just so much more balanced, with a lot more room to breathe. Regardless, he was still able to get the picture musically as far as what was going on, which is ultimately what you’re gong for. My second gripe is how you explained to him who Marty Friedman is. “One of those 80s shredder guitarists” just comes across super reductive when you’re talking about someone as universally lauded as one of the greatest lead guitarists in metal history. But that’s a pretty minor gripe lol. If he gets in to metal big time, he will know who Friedman is in no time. I’m being semi facetious in the second gripe lol. But going forward, if you do more Rust In Peace, please do the original master! lol I’ll be checking out more of these for sure.
Mart Friedman is way more than a metal shredder. Absolutely a legend all around. Even blues guys know who he is.
Big time!
He "winged" all his solos on Rust in Peace album 😅 what a madman

@@MegaASMRmetal I hear ya.... but good luck trying to convince millions of folk that this is better than Pastor of Muppets! ;)
80s thrash is the shizzle. When I'm an oldtimer a tear will come to my eye if I hear any.
Bought this album on cassette the moment it came out and still have that cassette and still listen to it all the time. MeGaDeTh til death.
This album was produced by Max Norman who made some incredible records. Blizzard of Ozz and Diary by Ozzy osbourne , also did Pantera too
Max Norman is insanely good, a genius. He built Megadeth a studio to record Youthanasia. He mixed my favourite punk record too - Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues by Strung Out (not the reissue)
The album was produced by Mike Clink. Max mixed the album, but he was heavily involved in the production.
No lie, i love this composer guy for some reason. You guys have funny chemistry in a good way.
I think musicians throughout history would love and be impressed by metal for the instrumentals
God, this whole album is just epic. Perfect 😎
Marty Friedman and Jason Becker were in a band together called Cacophony. Might be worth checking out. They were both very young at the time.
I find the verse riff of this song is absolute insanity from a compositional standpoint, I love it. He covers more ground on the fret board while singing than he does during the rest of the song 😅
That last guitar solo is Daves chaotic handywork.
I was 21 when this album dropped. It totally changed the way I listened to music. It's sonic perfection for the entire album.
Dave was playing the riff you reference 6:00, I think he called it the spider crawl riff. Friedman does the very melodic solo's, the flamenco style one, also Friedman at 10:21, Dave is mostly blunt force, does the last solo. You should watch the vid, it shows who plays what.
One of the best, visceral reaction vids I've seen. Nice!
This album is one of the greatest thrash metal albums ever. My top3 definitely
You guys are my favorite. I’ve watched this many times but had to watch it again because I LOVE Megadeth and LOVE to see those hear them for the first time that also LOVE it. Please do Ashes in your mouth next! My favorite Megadeth song and a compositional masterpiece.
The last section of this song just melts your face off. That minute or two is the pinnacle of thrash metal.
Best metal album in metal history... only master of puppets can touch this... this is just the pinnacle of metal music..
Megadeth has many albums which are not worse of this. My favorite Megadeth album is "So Far, So Good... So What!" and second probably... "Youthanasia"
Master of puppets tries to touch it, misses and rust in peace takes the finish
@@StormbringerMMRust In Peace is not as creative as Master of Puppets, nor does it have as much variety.
Every member shines on MOP, ROP just has Mustaine and Friedman showing off mostly.
In an absolutely non-shocking turn of events, musicians love Megadeth...
Megadave's best song.
Here's a suggestion
Annihilator - Crystal Ann/Alison Hell.
Losta classical/Thrash in that one.
Think he'll like that one.
classic
Their singer sounds like a pirate though lol. 😂 Great song though. 👍
This album is quite the workout for any guitarist
One of fav albums ❤ and love the album cover too.
I don’t understand why some people can’t accept that both Megadeth and Metallica are phenomenal bands. Each band has their place in the world of music.. As a drummer, it hurts to see so much hate in the comments anytime these two bands are discussed. I see music as a healing and uniting experience.
Lars come from your main, we won't troll you.
Lars? Is that you
I've ragged on Lars plenty of times, but he is/was a good drummer who made some very memorable contributions to the world of drumming that modern bands are still emulating to this day.
Five Magics would be great. That's probably my favorite MD song. A technical marvel of metal music
I'd love it if you guys did a reaction to "OPETH - Ghost of Perdition (LIVE AT RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATRE)" I'm curious to see what Judson (?) thinks of the song and the band. Plus then we'll get his little rendition of it next video or something. haha
Also side note about Megadeth. The band isn't nicknamed "MegaDave" for no reason. lol
Love it.
I will admit I'm a larger Metallica fan. But my god this album....every single song gives me goosebumps at some point.
Marty played for Cacophony with Jason Becker. Both phenomenal musicians! Check out The Ninja by Cacaphony for some amazing technique...
Must listen -- Tornado Of Souls from Rust In Peace! One of the best guitar solos ever. Go, Marty!
do home by dream theater i’m sure he’ll love it
Went and listen to “Ms. Ohio” and Judson’s not lying. That is a great song! Can’t believe I’ve never heard of Her!!!
I feel bad for the people whose first exposure to Rust In Peace is tarnished by the god-awful 2004 remaster.
I get the Sabbath thing, but I'd say Blue Cheer were officially recognised as the first and pioneering band of the Metal genre
The opening of this song is like a barrage of consistent military fire absolutely intense and scary yet a beautiful symphony
This one of there best albums and Megadeth talks about wars and other things on this album
Motorhead is pretty funky
I saw them back in september. This song is played live almost exact! Few things different but I think because it's their closer and dave introduces each member. Interesting note. Guitar player has only with this band for short amount of time. I think his 3rd show was when I got to see them. They were awesome!
Love this reaction, He picks up on a lot of the song for just hearing it once.
Holy shit! You guys are amazing.
This is by far my favourite Megadeth song by a mile I love it and it was great to watch you discover it and really like it. I can tell you there is no better way to feel alive than to be right in the middle of the mosh pit at 135lbs soaking wet when Megadeth play this 🤘🤘
To be able to experience this album for the first time again... man
Great band, Awesome album. I love everything from this band.
"World Targets in Megadeaths"
The words on a binder on the table in the President's War Room in the film Dr Strangelove.
I would love to see his reaction to primus, something like tommy the cat, DMV or Jerry was a race car driver would be awesome
Marty Friedman and Jason Becker use to be in a band together.
It is Mustaine following the chord changes at the beginning after the intro riff
Masterpiece.
This has and always will be my favourite album ever created
That album 💿 duuuude, that’s just one of my most beloved albums
15:32 i love his body language Reaction there to the giant whaling guitar drone after the solo ends. (u know which one im talkin about;)
such a mind-bender
Great reaction as always !
That entire album is phenomenal
This song just became more relevant in the last few few days…
God help us! Dave has been “awake” to how the world works, for quite some time. Fortune teller metal..
I was thinking about that too. Sad.
Seeing your subs grow daily is so awesome! Great channel
Thank you!
my favorite metal song of all time
I love the concept!
One of the best Albums ever. Marty is a beast.
