I’m not sure where I got the idea that there’s a difference in the song and album title. “The” is in both of them. I blame The Mandella Effect.

I wonder if you’re thinking of the album As Daylight Dies and the song just Daylight Dies.
@@danielcooze4022 that might be it!
Howard will always be one of my all time favorite metal vocalists. Dude's range is out of this world!
I have a similar relationship to this song as Richard. Song came out at the end of my senior year of high school. Emotions were high. Spring/early Summer in the northeast. Getting laid for the first time. Getting betrayed for the first time. This song and drinking lots of beer went hand in hand. Cruising around at night with the windows down, smoking a cig, blasting this tune.. good times haha
🤘
Man early-mid 2000s was such a great time for this melodic kind of Metal. In Flames, KSE, Soilwork... and metal/rock in general now that I think of it. Slipknot, SoaD, Korn, Trivium, even Bullet for my Valentine showing up. Good fkn times I'll tell ya! As a teenager that was a great time to come into the scene!
No doubt! The good ole days
Soilwork just kept getting better until their most recent album, which was a bit of a disappointment. If you haven't kept up with them, I recommend checking out some of their newer albums.
The real version with aaaall the heavy, just the way I'd expect it from this channel.
So glad you didn't go with the edited, lighter music video version.
🤘
Indeed the correct/superior version...the only version as far as I'm concerned. 🤘 Same applies to so many other great metal tracks in the 2000's that had those pointless edited/censored music video or radio versions.
Seems like a lifetime ago now when I had first heard that song. Well it's been 20 years so yeah i guess so.
I had been married the first time for about 4 years with 3 kids,2 were from her previous relations and then our 4 yr old daughter.
I was in my car on the way to the store to get something to go with our dinner. I turned the stereo and I heard this awesome guitar riff backed up by what I could only describe at the time as machine gun rhythm in perfect syncopation, which I now know was the beginning of the second verse right after the chorus. I was blown away. That made a lasting impression on me. Fast forward 6 months, and my wife left me, took the kids, and moved out of state and I was in my feelings, getting hammered drunk, listening to the radio, and I wanted to hear that song. Problem was I didn't know who it was or the name of it or anything, inhad only heard it that one time,so my drunk ass calls the radio station trying to tell the DJ what I could remember describing it the way I did with the syncopated rhythm and the only words I could remember which were, "you know me,you know me all to well." And it being heavy af.
That DJ,I wish I could remember his name, sat on the phone with me for 30 min going through all the newer heavy songs they had in rotation, putting me on hold to do his job on the radio, then getting back on the phone continuing until he finally found it.
That was the perfect song that i needed hear at that time in my life. It absolutely helped me get through a very dark time in my life. Hats off to that DJ,whomever he was for taking the time to help me find the end of my heartache. I've been a huge fan of KSE since. \m/
Thanks for sharing that. Helping someone through heartache is no easy feat, i’m sure that encounter might’ve meant something to the DJ as well.
Greetings from Finland, I have bee enjoying your channel for quite a while. I hope you could do a Nevermore song. Warrell Dane (R.I.P.) was a unique vocalist and I think it was an underappreciated band with their own sound and great guitarmanship by Jeff Loomis. No bad albums in their cataloque. I would suggest a song from Dead Heart In A Dead World (2000), Narcosynthesis or The Heart Collector, for example, or from the This Godless Endeavour (2005), the title song. But trust me any song by them would do the band justice.
I’d be very interested to see how Judson feels about Alive or just Breathing. That’s definitely my favourite KsE work. Jesse’s vocals and lyrics are powerful to me and that album was poignant for my early recovery. For something fun, their version of Holy Diver is great too.
Fixation on the darkness is probably my favorite song by KSE
@@AKmumu yeah, great track. Mine is probably the title track or Numbered Days.
@@thetrentmeister Numbered days is a really close 2nd to me
Just barely breathing (title track) is 100% my #1 favorite track been following them since the beginning
Will always love this song, but I also see where Judson is coming from. Would love to see more Killswitch on here!
My Curse would be great
Howard Jones (pre-Killswitch) was in an amazing band called Blood Has Been Shed. Their album "Spirals" is incredibly heavy, even by today's standards. I highly recommend listening to it!
Thanks for the share mate ! This is dope ! :P
Yes! Good looking out bro! I'm seconds into She Speaks To Me and sold!
Love that band, current kse drummer was also with BHBS as well. So glad they’ve all come together to create what they have
The more and more I watch these the more I wanna hang out and talk music history and theory with you dudes. Thanks for the great content!
I'm not a big fan of KSE, especially the "anthem" type rock for the most part, but ive seen them twice with both singers and both times they blew my socks off. Seeing a band live really tells the whole story.
Rose of Sharyn sad theme yet my favourite KSE song
Show him “Sexual Man Chocolate” by Attack Attack! It’s a little bit more young teenager MySpace pop hardcore music. But the Synths and Piano’s laid out by Caleb Shomo in this band is amazing, and he was only 15
I think he might really appreciate Agalloch - "In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion" or the piano in The Dillinger Escape Plan - "Widower"
I could see Judson liking Agallochs acoustic work.
Limbs & falling snow from agalloch are also good choices, I love those two songs
Widower is such an amazing song
@@Abiogenesis666 100%
Agalloch!
There’s already a Judson like interpretation on UA-cam titled Chillswitch Engage for anyone interested
I've been listening to that for years. It's great music to work to.
i love this band and especially this song!
classic from my childhood nice one! great stuff
I love the conversations between you guys so much. It's a true friend discussion. 🤘
I forgot how much I love KSE. Will be a binge day. Would love to see his reaction to This Is My Goodbye or Break The Silence!
One of my favorite metal band, Howard's clean as so good
Judson analyses music very well
Oh yeah, i would’ve been deep in my feelings with this song about 10 years ago. Imma check them out!
You need to do a Wintersun song. Their timings are wild. Sons of Winter and Stars or Time.
As a longtime KSE fan, this song is great as an anthem sing along but they have some really in depth musicality on many songs. Try just barely breathing, the arms of sorrow or beyond the flames!
The breakdown in this song tho had me the most hype I've ever been !!!
I would love to see Judson hear/see Rivers Of Nihil ..Where Owls Know My Name.
Just saw these guys live 2 days ago in Sao Paulo, Brazil at Summer Breeze. They are the metalcore masters! Not a bad song in 25 years of career!
Don't know if this would be Judson's favorite, but I was always partial to Just Barely Breathing
Howard is awesome!
When Darkness Falls is my favorite on that album
"This next song is about Howard (Jones) trying to ice skate"
-Adam D., every time I saw them in the Howard era.
@@michaellorenz7177 this song is about Howard riding a skateboard. lol.
@@michaellorenz7177this is a song about Howard taking his pants off
This Band is awesome. You said you try My Curse, bit I think he Will be more interested on Rise Inside.
Rgds from Brazil
You guys should check out "Chillswitch Engage"
Piano covers of their best songs 🫡
Classic song. Good choice :) Erra - Skyline should be on your list!
My Curse is such a good song
Resonator + Bottleneck, Judson, you've just risen even higher in my esteem. Cheers :D
Thanks for tuning the lapsteel (or not playing those high strings), Judson
Am I breathing?
My strength fails me
Your picture a bitter memory!!!
All right!!! Mr. J and I share the same infatuation for Milla. 🤘🏻💥🔥🙏🏻💯
please do IN FLAMES
yes!
You guys got any requests for Wintersun yet? This is the first video of yours I've seen, but if he dislikes the musical simplicity of this, he'll probably enjoy something off of Wintersun's Time I album. It's the best-written album, from a musical perspective, I've ever heard.
Let's go. Have a feeling he might be a little bored by this one but I absolutely would have shared this to him first. Hopefully he likes something about it
After he seemed to kinda like Archspire, I've got two band recs: Ophidian I - "Spiral to Oblivion" or "Diamonds." They are up there with Archspire in terms of technical insanity but with a surprising dose of memorability, but they are a bit more melodic. "Spiral to Oblivion" has a lovely insane opening and a video of the band playing, but "Diamonds" is probably overall a better song but has a music video about a story rather than the band playing, if it makes any difference.
The other band is First Fragment - "La Veuve et Le Marteur" or "Gloire Eternelle." Along with Archspire and Ophidian I, they are part of the 2021 tech death trinity in my opinion. Very neoclassical and beautiful but also a bit frantic I suppose. "La Veuve et Le Marteur" is about 5 minutes long and has a guitar/bass playthrough video to use. It's a fun, almost playful song that opens with a pretty acoustic line that is revisited later on electric guitars, has some groovy fretless baselines from one of the best bassists in the business. "Gloire Eternelle" is a bit more of a full picture of the band, has more flamenco-y acoustic guitar intro and changes up pace more and squeezes in more solos over its 8 minutes.
Do some Faith No More stuff - the clean hook on this song made them (Helpless track) come to mind. Stripsearch, A Small Victory, Ashes to Ashes, Kindergarten are all nice songs
Totally see where Judson's coming from and I much prefer their riffier stuff. I was a bit older when they got big but know of a lot of people for whom this was their gateway band into metal.
Ps. Judson needs to listen to a slide playing Australian called John Butler. Doesn’t need a reaction, but he needs the album Sunrise Over Sea in his life.
I almost mentioned you in this video. You told me in an email that we should start with “My Curse”. I almost said “LAURENCE WAS RIGHT!” 😂
@@Greatmeasures haha! I'm not always right, but when I am, I really am.
Rose of Sharyn is my fave Killswitch song
@greatmeasures Can we get a list of Judsons favorite songs that he's heard on the channel?
I would love to see you guys do a human abstract song, preferably horizon to zenith. The human abstract is hugely classical influenced so it would be interesting to see how he would react to there music!
Howard was in a band called Blood Had Been Shed that killswitch had toured with.
That "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" Soundtrack, and "The Punisher" (with Tom Jane) Soundtrack have been SO important to me over the years.
Should have him check out Rose of Sharyn. The song about his mom
You should make him react to some old Parkway Drive! Idols and Anchors, Romance Is Dead, and Horizons would all be great!
Boneyards 👀
@@Greatmeasures fire breakdown on that one! He might not be as impressed but he’ll definitely feel their insane energy
@@zeedexo 🤘
Show him All That Remains or The Haunted or Fear Factory or Threat Signal from that era. Much less "boring" songs, he probably digs it more.
My curse and all in due time are good ones
👿🔱😈 tardigrade Inferno Clockwork God 😬😬😬
I discovered them from that resident evil movie lol I went straight to limewire once I saw the name in the credits.
Please consider reacting to live versions of some songs. Specifically, this one has an awesome live version and I thought it may be cooler for reaction.
The live version of this song with the crowd singing is incredible
Milla Jovovich was Alice in Resident evil. The ost was a big part in my journey to metal back in the day.
Funny how the AC/DC comment led to Adam D. He’s like our generation’s Angus Young, with his show, short pants, no?
Should do a reaction to the shadowing by Orbit culture. I think youd enjoy it
You have to get him to listen to some Bullet for My Valentine!
If he loves Milla Jovovich so much, play him The Mission (M is for Milla mix) by Puscifer. She sings on the song with Maynard
Arms of Sorrow would have been another good one to show him
Just went through all of your Megadeth reactions and can't believe you haven't done "Tornado of Souls" yet! That's heresy!
Coming next! Weeeeeiiiiird that you said something
Bullet's 'Hand Of Blood' or 'Tears'
If you really want to be impressed listen to The Signal Fire by Killswitch Engaged.
Please do Dimmu Borgir but the stuff before Deathcult Armaggedon
i was never into Killswitch, it was always 'a lil too clean' for my taste, i do appreciate them as a Metalcore band tho, but i always preferred stuff like All That Remains or Trivium , they just had more energy which came out as less 'cheesy',
'My Last Serenade' by Killswitch was a Banger tho!
There is a radio edit and I do believe it was on that soundtrack. Most reactors listen to that one but I can’t stand it because of the change in vocals which, I get at the time where still a bit harsh for radio play. Video channels would play it but not radio in the Cincinnati area where I am from.
OM - State of non return
It would be interesting 😊❤
Great song choice. The only thing I don't like is how many times they repeat the chorus. But still an iconic song. I usually turn it off after it says You Know Me All Too Well lol. I'm glad Judson didn't enjoy it that much 😂 maybe heel like Woe Of Tyrants better lmao
Such a good song. Y'all should at least check out 1 of the big 2 Dragonforce songs. They're entertaining if nothing else
Rainbow vains by bullet for my Valentine would make a good song
Big fan since 2002. Jesse>Howard for me but Adam is the daddy
Unearth Zombie Autopilot
How about Bullet For My Valentine, plenty of great tracks especially Tears Don't Fall and Scream Aim Fire.
You need to play him some Ulver.
👿🔱😈.. is Linus is going to keep strumming Blues on us then we better see some reviews of Johnny Winter songs... SONG..DINT MEAN NOTHIN TO ME 🤘🤘🤘
Its the best country song ever written..i promise yall
ayyy they're still alive
Okay nvm apparently UA-cam deleted my sub?? Dafuq
It was Resident Evil. I preferred the Jesse era and and they were on the map before Howard joined in terms of metal core bands at the time. Just not as popular
Having no history with this song, I feel pretty much the same as Judson. It's kinda easy to listen to but I also have the feeling the lyrics could be served better in pretty much any other melody. For me this kinda of music doesn't really qualify as easy listening either, and neither is it very complex or musically interesting in my opinion. Very much how I feel about five finger these days.
There's no deeper meaning to the title track of The End of Heartache.... "the" is present both in the album title and in the title track lol.
This is their most boring song but still a classic.
The Holy Diver Dio cover they did was amazing, highly recommend that.
Hurts my soul hearing it when someone dislikes KSE lol. 🤦 Usually on his side too. But y'know Simpsons did it, comparing KSE to acdc 🙄 judsong dude..
I find The End of Heartache a mid album and I agree with Judson, the chorus of that song is so annoying, I can't bear to hear it...
Alive or Just Breathing is a much better album in my opinion, all the songs there are great and even the "hit" - "My Last Serenade" is very good. I would argue that My Last Serenade put them on the map, at least where I live, they played it like every 1 hour on MTV2. The End of Heartache made them even bigger for sure but they were big already after Alive or Just Breathing.
That album is classic, so good it's hard to top. I do appreciate the bands ability to be consistent all these years
Don't forget, Killswitch Engage is a better live band (especially Howard's vocals).
Killswitch latest albums are sooooo good musically. The song writing composition and skill interwoven is much better and they still keep it melodic metalcore for sure. They are fantastic musicians
mmmmyeah, mid song from a mid band. I think that Judson is beyond that level in terms of expectations or in his metal journey. He needs more prog or extreme metal, or both. I vote for Akercocke - Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone.
Guys you gotta react to the new Slipknot lineup with Eloy Casagrande!
the album is a masterpiece but this song is weak
allright we need gojira the smart guy is bored with these corny ass songs
Please show Judson either "Red Soil" or "Obscure" by Dir en Grey. Kyo's vocals alone oughtta trip him up. Let alone the instrumentation
