Now that you mention it, I can totally see you're a teacher, you have the same way to explaining things (my wife is one too). Great video with some actionable advice! I think often people just get bored of doing the same thing with 1 civ, even if it's technically better. It starts eating into their "fun" of the game. I know you caveated in the beginning to do what's fun which is fair. For me, I found the best way to overcome this is to actually play a civ that's flexible. I started with Delhi, like you, but doing the same thing every game quickly got me bored and I just couldn't stick to the civ. However, I've now started playing Rus and it's a civ that has a ton of options in-game, like going feudal aggression, 2 tc, fast castle, etc. This way my learning load is significantly smaller, but I still get to have variety in my gameplay based on the matchup and situation. It has allowed me to stick to Rus longer than any other civ I have before and I see myself getting noticeably better because of that.

sounds good, doesnt work. this is why the ladder is filled with plat/diamond 1 trick ponnies that are hardstuck. if what you said was true, there would be no 1k+ one civ games player that isnt at the top of the ladder. climbing is limited not only by knowledge which you insist solely on, but by creativity, decision-making, adaptability, critical thinking, etc, skills you can only teach yourself by constantly having to adapt, constantly being in new environments, on top of not being limited cognitively, which is the real reason people dont climb. what you propose is called cheese and is short-sighted. not all people are conquerer level. if everyone applied your strat, then the same people being gold would be gold in that world as well, only at a more tighter gameplay. this is compound mediocrity
Hi! A few things 1. All those things you mentioned (creativity, adaptability etc) come from Reps and the process of growing through practice. Part of the video is about how you teach yourself things things by either breaking down your own play constantly or learning by watching others. 2. I could easily suggest strategies/ that are considered cheese and tell people to just play those strategies. That’s not what I said. Playing one civ to help get better is not cheese, it’s part of the learning process. Many civs you have to be extremely adaptable to make work which is why people struggle with them (China is a great example). People can help speed. Up their learning process by focusing on one civ at a time for the reasons I laid out in the video. 3. You are never going to have the entire player base at the top of the ranked ladder, it’s not possible. If people are hard stuck it usually comes from a few things -they’ve reached the level they can reach without dedicated introspection on strengths and weaknesses and focused attempts at identifying things to fix - They are currently at their skills ceiling and need more reps to build the muscle and mental memory to reach the next level (they are improving even as they are hard stuck it just takes time) -They are not improving faster than the general population is improving through their own gameplay - the average gold player is significantly better then then the average gold player a year ago But overall I think the average person isint going through the steps I suggest. Self taught growth of a skill is difficult. Imagine if you had to teach yourself how to play the piano just by playing. It would take time! A long time! But if you had a teacher or a series a videos on chord structure your practice becomes a lot better. I am not suggesting a quick fix, in fact my suggestions will take way more time because I am telling the player to be consistently looking at their play with a critical eye, seek out information from others, and play the game consistently.
Criticize without offering your own "better" approach does nothing. You may not agree with his take, but at the least he is actively trying to help the community grow, and that in it's own is a big W. Great video keep it up.
@@codisius9204 there is no good approach. the point obviously was not everyone is smart, not every is special. most are monkeys, cogs. those that can and should succeed, succeed. very few are exceptions. dw about it, stay simple
