Thanks for the very instructive video! I was able to replace the control motor on a 2018 Kia Sportage. Everything went well except I dropped the 8mm screw/bolt that goes to the hose bracket never to be seen again.
You are amazing! This was one of the best, if not the very best, instructional video I have watched. You didn't waste any of my time with needless jabber. You spoke clearly and you worked at a pace that could easily be followed visually. You explained some of the final points that the average nonprofessional might've overlooked and you saved me a great deal of time and money! Mark you now have a new subscriber and a tip coming your way!
You may be able to fix it without replacing anything. The problem is something gets stuck - either the small VCM links, either the air flaps inside the manifold. You can slightly toss the VCM and start wiggling it to create the actual movement in the links and air flaps - keep doing this until everything moves easily. This did fix the P200A code for me. However, if something gets too stuck, the plastic gears inside the VCM will strip - you can remove the VCM cover (T10 torx screws) and slide out the two plastic gears and swap them from another VCM that you get from Ebay or a junkyard. To removed the 3rd bottom gear you need to remove a C clip and the small metal arm, then slide out the gear.
Great video! I just did a replacement today after watching your video. It was a little more of a challenge than you had but, without knowing the process in advance it would have been much more difficult! As a side note, I discovered I could have fixed my P200A error with no parts required because the "actual" problem was related to the pivot arm being locked in place due to rust, where it attaches to the output arm of the motor. I made certain to clean it up before transferring it to the new motor.
Great video my wife's car just had the same problem and I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to fix it myself. You made it look really simple. Thanks
Well did mine on 2020 Kia Sportage with 25,000 miles. But I found when I took it off. The rod was rusted to were it goes on. Had to use pentrenting oil to loosen it. So I could get it off. I had to break it loose just to rotate on the shaft. I'm assuming that what caused the issue with mine. Nice to live in the rust belt.
I had P1326 code on my 2018 Kia Sportage. I replaced the VCM and now I'm getting P2017 & P2008 codes. I noticed when you installed the white piece with the clip, you didn't look to see if the indicator goes to the left or right of stop. Can you verify if it matters which side the white tab belongs to?

How much time from start to finish does this take for a seasoned Mechanic?
