I thought I had accidentally switched channels, then I realized it actually WAS you playing with all that distortion and fuzz! Not used to seeing or hearing that from you, but you kicked butt. Well done!
This is one of the most beautiful Les Paul I have seen 💙 plus it sounds amazing, that demo was unreal, the guitar to copy! What a great song you played, elegant yet with incredible tones! ✌️🤩👍🎸
Jon’s playing was simply amazing and demonstrated the great tone that can be achieved with these iconic Gibson guitars. The way the finish on that guitar shimmers is incredible.
I own 4 Les Pauls. All of which weigh 10-10.5 lbs. and I wouldn't have them any other way. I've sold off 5 others that weighed around 8.5-9 lbs. because they didn't have the right feel. I get that it's not for everyone, but that sound is worth it. I play for 3-4 hours almost every practice or gig and no back problems. 🙂 That's a beautiful guitar. Period. Thank you for sharing it.
I've been the same way since I bought my 1979 Standard in 1981 brand new off the shelf for $600. The guitar FEELS like a guitar, everything I've touched since has barely felt the same. I've had a couple of studio's, hated them, found an Epiphone I can tolerate weight wise, and an LTD that needs stripped floyd rose II saddles. Nothing touches the feel of a solid hard piece of wood with a tight grain. Does need a fret job though, maybe this winter I'll finally get it done.
Hi Jonathan, ‘Traditional’ for a good reason. They never fail to deliver in tone & grunt. Great review & playing showcasing this stunning model. Cheers ✌️🎸💜
I've never been a fan of the blue Les Pauls of the past but that particular model looks gorgeous. P.S. I've watched a number of your videos and think you're a truly gifted musician.🎸
Dude, did you get that guitar from Guitar Center in Allentown? They had one there that I had my eye on...and now it's gone! 😖 I snooze, I lose! lol - Enjoy the guitar - it looks and sounds great!
actually, the one I played was light...so I'm sure it's not the one. And I just heard you got it from a friend, so...Anyway, it's a nice looking guitar.
I have a 2011 cherry sunburst traditional which has the 57 classics and I might be wrong but a rich light fretboard I believe. All modern les Pauls have some form of weight relief as I believe my traditional has , not chambered but smaller holes in the mahogany body underneath the cap. Again correct me if I’m wrong, but some years back I saw a graphic of the different weight relief Gibson does on the Les Paul model. Regardless a very nice guitar a little bit brighter and snappier on the bass end than some Les Paul’s I have played. There have been some hardware changes to these guys over the years, and I’m wondering if they didn’t discontinue the traditional all together? I really like the finish btw, I would almost consider that over the cherry burst, great playing and very informative review 😊
great playing , great review ,great video. After looking at dozens of clips like you are doing now and testing on the fields , I personally choose the classic out of the traditional for the versatility of the split coils and weight relieve over the sustain and the tones,, witch is no biggies for the amateur that I am ,just the feel of it in hands is worth every pennies and I also have a Harley Benton SC 25th anniversary just purchased 2 months ago , I'm having fun comparing the two ,don't know if the feel of the Les Paul is due to knowing the price gap but I can barely sense the amount of quality material, maybe it's a mind f*** but they are both great playing instruments , no doubts different in many points but both enjoyable to play .that been say,,, if I have some money to spend one day ,, I would still shop for a 59 bourbon burst in a heartbeat ,,, and a couples of more Benton's ... and maybe another Fender or a PRS....Thanks again and have a great day
Dear Jonathan, You presented and tested the ESP LTD TE200 in white, I was so excited and bought the guitar as TE-200 Maple STBC, the color: See thru Black Cherry is a dream, but especially good is the super modern telecaster-like finish and the sound of the two humbuckers. I tried to buy the pickups separately, through Thomann and also directly from ESP, unfortunately without success. The ESP guitars are produced in Indonesia and probably the pickups too, maybe you have a contact who produces the pickups from ESP (ESP designed) and also sells them. I would like to upgrade my Yamaha Pacifica with it, as SSH. Pickups: ESP Designed LS-120N (neck), ESP Designed LS-120M (middle) single coils and ESP Designed LH-150B humbucker (bridge). I've seen this setup on an ESP LTD MH-203 QM STB, so the parts should be there with no problems, but I'm missing the contact. Maybe you have an idea, thanks in advance. Franky jr.
@@JonIsJustTooLoud This is what I had expected and feared. I had thought Indonesia was more in your catchment area than mine. It would be really interesting to know where guitars are produced in Indonesia for well-known manufacturers. 👍👍👌👌
@@frankyjr888 ESP Designed ones, should be only on guitars, so people may sell them in used market. But you can find better pickups also on used market, or maybe other brands.
Just so you know, you could review a Twinkie, I would come to watch the demo and that's it, just to hear you play, so I don't usually watch the specs or anything after you play. I'm a fan of yours, not necessarily the guitars.
I'm a sucker for a single cut guitar, my favorite....Curious though, you've done a lot of reviews on Schecter's but, have you ever done one on the Solo II Custom?? As always, love your channel...much respect. 🤘✌️
Shame is has those daft raised nibs on the neck binding. I find the E string catches between the fret ends and the raised nib all the way up the neck. Sent two Flying V's back to Gibson because of that.
Nice review. I have a '19 Les Paul Traditional and I love it!! Yes, it is so heavy. Do you think that since it has no weight relief, it has more sustain than other weight relief Les Paul?
Hi Jon, beautiful playing and guitar! I have a question I realised you hardly ever use your pinky even when playing fast solo parts, is this a general preference or due to your note choices? Cheers from Australia
Those differences between Standard and Traditional are from what it was before JC era. Late 2019 Gibson changed management and started new way of building stuff that is more streamlined and more true to the old models. Traditional is no more. But current Standard 50's is the Traditional with Standard truss rod cover. There is no more weight relief in Standard both 50's and 60's. 50's has Medium C and 50's has Slim taper neck profile. 50's has Kluson style tuners and 60's has Grover style tuners. Quality of woodwork increased and wood selection is better now. Standards are often lighter than 10 pounds. Actually my Murphy Lab R7 is not lightest Les Paul but it is 8,6 pounds heavy. From 2019 to now they are getting nice wood and doing good woodworking job. Electronic though on Gibson USA models often sucks. I have seen so many mistakes and bad soldering jobs. Custom Shop stuff is bit better but still not using proper braided wire. I am glad they are improving stuff. Before the JC QC was not that great. You needed to check like 100 guitars to find a good one. Now they are more often good.
Why does this guitar have the look of an Epiphone? Does it have chrome hardware instead of nickel, or is it the blacked out back? The white pickup rings don't help. Probably a great guitar but I don't like the look.
" The Les Paul Standard features the new Ultra-Modern Weight Relief, whereas the traditional has no weight relief" I hate to be that guy with this information is outdated. Since 2019 The standard now has No weight relief and the traditional/classic has nine hole. The Les Paul modern now has modern weight relief and a sculpted heel
@@JonIsJustTooLoud I didn't say you were wrong About that specific guitar. For a couple of years, the traditional did, in fact, have no weight relief. When the Henry J era came to an end, they made some changes. For the first time in decades, the standard would have no weight relief. Modern weight relief would go to a specific collection of Les Paul's called the modern.
