Everyone hates on the chambered bodies. I like them. Nice and light.

I bought Gibson 2008 Les Paul in 2013 - new from Best Buy of all places. Being a lifelong Fender player I wanted a Les Paul Standard in my collection. I had played Gibsons before but always seemed to have trouble controlling the intensity of sound...I guess because I wasn't used to the power of humbuckers. This was the first Gibson I had that just fit somehow. I loved it from the outset! It's just plain sweet - yet powerful. Hard for me to describe sound in words - but I just feel so fortunate to own such a great instrument. The lack of a pick guard adds to its beauty as well. The only detraction is the output jack lock. It's a pain and fortunately was dropped in subsequent models.

I've had a 2008 plus in honey burst since 2010. Bought it as a demo model. She's an all around beauty.

These are sooooo underrated, I owned one and it was amazing!
    STORY TIME!
I had purchased one of these in 2009,I finally was able to get my first Gibson!
I immediately went to share it on the Gibson boards forum, I thought I was part of the Gibson family now..Well I instantly got called a bunch of names and was told my modern lp was trash and wasn't anything like an original 50's or a reissue, and it continued for day's and day's, it got so bad that I couldn't even look at the guitar anymore without feeling sick and hurt..I sold it,and it's the biggest mistake I've ever made instrument wise, because I absolutely loved that guitar..
And now I realize I'll never be able to get another one because the prices on these are going through the roof... I'll never forget about that and I'll hate Gibson and their fanboys all the day's of my life..
Gibson could have stopped the whole thing, but they didn't, they let me be bullied and I'll never forget that..

I have a Gibson Les Paul 2008 EB, and I bought it in 2010. I have been playing EVERYTHING with this guitar, and it sounds amazing live. Now I have changed the pickups for a neck for a Seymour Duncan Invader (passive) and I play from blues to death metal...

I own a 2011 Standard Plus in Honey Burst. It rips and sounds like it should. My fiancee who doesnt play guitar at all says that the sound of it reminds her of old Metallica. Forget what all the stupid dudes say who haven't recorded a song ever and just grab one. You will not regret it. Forums are the enemy. Playing and shutting the fuck up is the answer.

I have never really understood what the issue is with chambered guitars. I bought an 08 standard in 2011. I tried the traditional and the standard back to back. I knew very little about chambering at the time. I based my buying decision on which guitar sounded best to my ear and felt best in my hand. It was a fairly easy decision. The standard and traditional really don’t sound to far apart. At the time the standard sounded a bit more aggressive and sharp to me. I think this has far more to do with pickups than wood. Choose a guitar based on how it sounds to you, not what other people think.

What put some people off is that they don't feel or sound like a Les Paul when you play one acoustically. But when you plug in, it's just as it should be. Most who are critical have never plugged one in....

I have a 2007 Std, chambered with an asymmetric neck profile, but no tonepro hardware. Must be a plus top cause it looks identical to that one :) You're right on with the tone assessment. Compared to my other two Lesters I feel it has a bit more of an open tone which I personally dig. You can totally hear that with this demo. One thing to add is its lightweight... probably around 8lbs and so comfortable to play standing for long periods. It's a great Std.

@@MrRockstar1968 I didn't have any money for guitars and amps. I was born in an ultra poor country. My parents didn't have any money either. No one had money in that country...I'm 41 now and I can afford to buy amazing guitars and amps now. This is my example. I didn't want to stay poor so I moved countries...2 times.
