@@iamlazy4886 Hi, I am not a dietician but eating 900-1000 cals as a teenager is extremely dangerous for your growth and development. Rather than focusing on calories, you should eat as much as you want to truly feel full, and then some. It is sad that teenagers (especially teenage girls) find issues with putting on "fat". Fat is where a lot of your hormones are produced! Fat is your sustenance! The body is happiest when it has a bit of fat on it. The only way you will gain your period back is if you let yourself put on fat, since that is the only way your body will start to produce hormones again. In absolutely no way will gaining 5, 10, even 20lbs of pure fat be unhealthy for you at the moment. Your body needs to grow. The more you restrict it, the more you are letting disordered eating and body-image ideas propagate. Please please be kind to yourself. Allow yourself to eat healthy amounts of protein, carbs, and especially fats! I am speaking from experience.

While I believe you are right, most eating disorder and HA recovery coaches do not recommend eating whole food in recovery but say we should eat anything (fast food, etc.) in the quantity we want. I would like you to explain why you differ on that point! While I believe your position is probably more intelligent, I often struggle justifying why it can be possible in recovery since it comes from such a restriction mindset and often orthorexic tendencies. For example, Halloween is coming and I prefer to stay away from candies because they are very addictive and bad for the health. They don’t make me feel good. Most recovery coaches would say that’s a restriction mindset while I believe candies don’t really have a place in my life. Desserts like homemade brownies or muffins on the other hand, are totally welcome for me.

I completely understand your concerns and it's essential to clarify that recovery from Hypothalamic Amenorrhea (HA) is indeed different from recovering from an eating disorder. Not all women with amenorrhea have a troubled relationship with food, and recovery approaches can vary.
The idea that you should eat anything without restrictions is a common approach in some eating disorder recovery programs. However, the approach I recommend is based on a holistic perspective that emphasizes nourishing your body with whole, nutrient-dense foods while still being attuned to your body's needs. It's not about consuming anything in excessive quantities; it's about providing your body with the essential nutrients it needs for recovery.
Your preference for staying away from certain candies because they don't make you feel good is valid. Recovery should be about finding a balanced and sustainable way to nourish your body that aligns with your values and health goals. Homemade brownies or muffins, as you mentioned, can certainly be a part of this approach. It's about creating a positive and individualized relationship with food that supports your well-being.
It's important to recognize that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to recovery. Your recovery journey should reflect your unique needs and values. What matters most is that you feel good about your choices and that they contribute to your overall health and happiness. 💖✨

Is eating within an hour okay if you stay in bed a while before going day?
