    Gary Ellis’ career is just remarkable. At the top from the mid 80’s, racing some of the pioneers from the 70’s, to the late 90’s racing guys like leveque and purse.

    Mind blowing.. i remember reading the coverage of this in BMX Plus back in 85' . And to finally see it .. 💯💯💯💯 .. whats even more amazing is one soon to be dominant rider Gary Ellis still had Stompin Stu and Brian Patterson competing in which they were both fading from the sport for various reasons around 85 and 86 .. like some of the previous comments these riders were definitely your BMX heroes ..

    When i raced BMX in 1984 , BRAIN PATTERSON had a 5 bedroom house 3 car garage. He won the ABA championship 2 years in a row . They gave him a TRANS AM , i think both years. I was reading he got hurt the next year and he had to give one back. I guess they got a rule you go to compete the next year to keep the TRANS AM

    This is Bicycle Motocross a where you have to PEDAL most of the track. The new style BMX racers are awesome too, but it's more like bicycle SX where timing and jumping are more critical.

    • @breddary
      @breddary 2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah, I feel the same way about this too. Modern racing is great but it seems way more sophisticated (just like basically everything else, sadly) but I like the fact that there's no overly tight gear, it really keeps real to the Motocross roots in racing like this. Tires are actually knobby, seats are high, they race in the mud, it just seems more entertaining and fun. This is BMX racing to me.
