Im right there with you Bro my family was to Poor as well✅I was born 1977 in South Central Los Angeles California As a Kid I would go travel 35-minutes down the road to Santa Ana Orange County California Disneyland to watch the Old School 80’s GT Freestyle BMX show’s❤️man I miss those Days✅
@Brandon Duhon, I know the feeling of all my friends owning GTs and Mongooses and us not having enough money to fork out 600 bucks for one of these. Eventually my dad found a way to get me a decent bike but we still couldn't afford the GT Pro Performer so I ended up getting a General which itself was a great bike. Only to have it stolen a year later. I still haven't gotten over that :O(
@@kevinclary1522 I believe I have to many memories with the bike to sale it. I took it to a bike shop a few weeks ago and they were amazed of how well it has held up. Thanks for asking though.
When I was 13-14 years old. I had one of those mongoose m1. It was like I had a Mercedes around my neighborhood. Wish I still had it. I think my parents sold it in a yard sale for 20 bucks.
Simply nice thanks for the awesome share , miss those late70s early 80s teen years ,my Schwinn 😘 competition was my baby, till someone stole her back in 82 ,👍💪✌️🤙🙏🖖😊😎
Those GT's literally brought me back to the early/mid 90's when I was a kid. I would go to the bike shops and want so many of the bikes. The nostalgia!
Love it. I can still remember the day my mom bought me my first bike, a 1990 Jr interceptor my first pair of wings, she was a beaut. Thanks for sharing.
This brings back memories. When we where teens we treated these bikes just like cars. Saved every week to go and get the latest tricked out parts for our bikes. I remember getting a kuahara after the movie ET came out.
@Eric Kelly.. And that is exactly why I STILL modify and customize my cars to this very day.. It all started with my BMX bike! There was no way in hell, that my parents were spending $300-$400+ on a bicycle for me, so my Dad took me to Caldor's (Target equivalent) and bought me a Huffy Stu Thompson for my birthday. We had a Schwinn bike shop a few blocks away, and I lived in that store, and gave them all my little bit of money. By the time I was done with my Huffy, I could've bought a Mongoose or something outright.. My Huffy was chrome, I bought white Skyway Tuff II wheels, white Dia Comp rear brakes, white Tuff Neck stem, white Zeronine number plate, CW Racing handlebar and laid back seatpost, black and white ODI Mushroom grips, Bear Trap pedals, I had a chrome and white chain, don't remember what seat I had on it. The worst day in my young life came, when after buying pizza up the block (I lived in the Bronx) I rode back down to my house, put the bike in my yard to go inside and eat my slice of pizza, and someone came in the yard and stole my damn bike, never to be seen again! 😥 A freestyle Kuwahara was definitely on my radar, but I started driving cars, and I got too tall for BMX bikes, so I had to let my BMX dreams fade away.. Until I got into Mountain Bikes! LOL
Summer of ‘85 I mowed many many lawns to earn enough money to buy my 1985 Predator Qualifier. I was so excited to upgrade my old beat to hell Huffy lol. God did I love that damn Predator. Blue with white mags and blue tires, it was sharp. Wish I still had that damn bike 😔
My sister and I had 2 matching BMX bikes hers was a smaller one because she was younger. I remember the pads were checkered white and blue on one and red and blue on the other. You brought back so many memories.
I had all those gt’s and mongooses back in the late 80’s early 90’s …..wish I would have kept at least 10 of them…..my favorite was my 1985 mongoose loop tail I removed the brakes to make it lighter…… lotta memories this video brought back….thanks man
Sweet collection. I bought a mongoose Californian for 9 bux at a garage sale about 9 yrs ago with a hutch neck. At the time i didnt realize what the market was for these bikes. I also have a chrome Vector M4 with all original parts im restoring now- Tuff 2's with metal flange, Redline STR Series Bars Tuf neck, dia comp brakes, Kash seat, that was/is my original bike from 1982. I had a chrome thruster tribar back then which was the absolute sweetest bike in the world - I traded my YZ 80 for the thruster! Then after about 1 month it was was stolen from my front porch- Ugg.. I bought the vector with the ins money my parents filed for. I still cant get over that bike being stolen! Anyway- great vid and nice collection.
What a video and a bike collection! It made me feel all pump by seen all those old models. I am from Tepic Nayarit, Mexico, small town where it was extremely hard to find these kind of bikes, even just to get the BMX magazine, thats how my friends and I knew about those bikes. In my case I saved every single penny that I could to get and used GT pro series frame, until now i remember that bike like it was yesterday, but in 1995 i had to sell it to be able to continue school, so I totally miss that bike, and now I saw your collection and you don't have idea on how cool made me feel. Thanks for sharing it, i totally appreciate it.
Loved this video. Reminds me of being back in the 6th grade when me and my friends would ride the bus across town to the west side where all the rich kids lived. Those kids used to leave there bikes out and we used to steal some serious hardware. PK Ripper, Hutch, Diamond Back, Panda, Mongoose, et al. Would even snag a few decks on those nights. Damn I loved those Powell Peraltas.
Man. 2:22 That performer Was a Beast ! I mowed many lawns to pay $327.77 back in late 94, for this same identical Rig! Got stolen in 7/98, broad daylight, Nottingham, Pa.
I had the 1985 mongoose Californian pro. That was and is still my favorite bike I ever had. Second Is the 2012 cannondale Jekyll 4. Now I’m on a trek Roscoe 7. I’ve had lots of bikes in my life. I’m about to be 48 and I still feel like a kid when it comes to bikes. As a matter of fact I just got some pedals in the mail today. Haven’t even opened the package yet.
I built a GT PRO (frame, fork, handlebbars, laid back seat post) when I was 14 in 1983. It was a close replica to Greg Hill's bike at the time. I couldn't afford the Profile cranks and hubs but it had original Shimano DX pedals, seat post clamp, Kashimax Aero seat and MONGOOSE Pro Class rims. I miss it.
Thanks for sharing your collection. I still have my '82 Schwinn Predator bmx with blue mags. My good friend asked me at the time: "Why not get the z rims?" I want mags, I said. I was never bummed out about my choice. Though through the rest of my school days, others would talk about z rims like they was the best in the world. And that was even in high school. So long ago.
My youth was an amazing this is a blast from the past!! I had a goose, red line, and a quadangle! Stayed away from the Ripper didn't want a trip to the welding yard every week!! Nice collection
I had that EXACT Schwinn Predator. I lived in queens NY and I kept it in my parents dining room! Yes they let me. I swapped out all the Black on it for Blue. My friend had one and he made his RED. So I had blue tires with black mags. Blue Mushroom grips and Blue California Lite pads. Goosneck seat pole and blue Viscount seat...Blue Pegs...man that bike was awesome
HOLY SH!T!! You just brought out all the memories of the bikes me and my friends had!! BMX, Mongoose frames, WINNING!! Thanks for posting this, PLEASE keep them ALL in the man cave! 🥳👍🏾😎🤟🏾😆
OMG when I seen the dyno air and the GT performer I got chills. I haven't seen one of them in over 20 years. When I was a kid they were the bike to have. The diamondbacks are sick too. Great video
Nice collection Scott. Time warp looking back at all those bikes. I was lucky enough to have JMC Racing bike 2x. 1st one got stolen. Also had a Diamond Back. Such fun times racing back in the late 70s early 80 when all these bike were in their prime. Thanks for the look back down memory lane. Wish i still had my JMC. 2nd one got stolen as well.
I always wanted a Skyway T/A, chrome frame, white tuff wheels. A friend had a Torker, another had the VDC Changa and another the PK Ripper. Great times riding around the skate parks.
Man you brought a tear to my eye on that schwinn predator.. I got one for Christmas and literally had it for a couple of hours before it got stolen at my local arcade.. my friend had a lime green diamond back that he gave me as a replacement though...🤣😂😂still wasn't as good as that damn pradator that my mother saved up all year to get.. 300-500 bucks was a lot back then.
I feel you. I had one in Queens NY and got jumped for it taking it to Green Acres Mall. I was able to get away but was really pissed. I worked in the mall and used to ride my bike there
Super nice collection . reminds me of going to the bike shop as a kid just to drool.got a GT and a GT dyno That have sat around for years. Gonna fix em up a little along with several others. Gotta get my Takara road bike going and start ridding again . getting old and flabby..
Extra nice collection you have there. In 1984 I used to race a JMC Racing at Westlake in Indiana. Bike got stolen end of racing. 2 years later, traded a crappy drumset for a Haro Freestyler. By that time, I was driving a car. Didn't have that for long. Sold it...Both were awesome bikes. Would like to see you aquire a JMC. The Vans trick team used those for awhile
Man I wish i could go back and tell myself to hoard all my cool 80's stuff....dammit lol. Thanks man, brings back alot of good memories. Great collection!
You got some sweet bikes! I had that old three wheeler when I was a kid, lol. I'm currently building a 1982 Schwinn Predator, hunting for some forks, but I just picked up a 1995 Haro Group 1 CI. It's almost complete and original, didn't come with the stem or the sprocket, but luck would have it, my 1989 GT Performer had the stock Fusion sprocket and cranks on it. Now I have to get the factory ones for the GT, or something higher end, lol. I'd like to have a room in a house just dedicated to park these in, next to my 1995 Redline PL24 and my 1999 Schwinn Pro Stock Team 24, and any other ones I can find along the way. Thanks for the tour, I appreciate it.
Memory lane. Started with Huffy Pro Thunder, then Moto mag Mongoose, GT, ended with a PK. Today I’m 50+ and for grins, picked up a 29” Big Ripper, Travis Barker model. Long live Rompin Stompin Stu, Harry Leary, Greg Hill, Mike Buff, RL Oz, Andy Hill, the Vans trick team, and the SE Bus driven by Scott B. RIP, Scott.
You made me miss my BMX bike after watching your video. I had a chrome DG, with blue tuff wheels (I think that’s what they were called), blue fluted alloy handlebars, seat stem, so the chrome really popped. I begged my Mom for Christmas, I remember it cost around $300 in 1979. I polished the hell out of that chrome, wish I would’ve kept it.
Just refurbished my 1977 20”DG Racer w/ DG Forks , Shimano Dura Ace 44T Crank and ⚙️ Sprockets, Dia Compe BullDog rear brakes. FMF Handlebar, Pro Neck, Araya & Ukai Rims, GT Hubs , AME Grips, GT LaybAck SEATPOST WITH AN ELINA super light seat.
Awesome collection. I'm reliving my childhood ,about a week ago I was able to get a hold of what I believe a 94 gt interceptor still trying to figure out the correct year.
Aahhh memories!!! I had a black bmx gt as a kid and had no idea what I had. When I repainted it I went over the stickers. I thought my older cousin was gonna kill me. Lol good times
I had a couple Diamondback when I was younger always loved my bikes. I would take they apart paint them het centerline mags. If I was a lot smaller I would still ride. Me and my friend did so BMX racing only a couple years. Then I got my license and started taking cars apart. The 80's were great.
I loved bmx years ago but never rode seriously, just a fan. I had a Dyno and that’s when Redline and Mongoose were popular, good bikes. Started on a Schwinn (?)
Sweet collection. Man I used have a couple of those bikes, I was fortunate enough to have a few frames and forks and wheels etc. when I was a teenager. I would build different bikes often and do different things with em I had a flatland bike, one I used for vert and another I would use for racing or dirt jumps. It brings me back, man I loved those bikes. I have a 26 Haro and a 20 Redline there new school bikes, but I enjoy them.
Thanks for collecting these childhood memories! Just turned 44 and had the '83 5 year old version and two redlines, the white in '85 and a chrome with red an black decals Not sure.
Heck ya old school baby!!🤙couldn’t afford these bikes but I ripped harder than any of my friends with the good bikes.now I ride my Dj P3,DJ Felt,P3 slope.I’m very satisfied. Bike Life
Lots of vintage parts! But no mention of the “epitome of funkiness” grips as rated by BMX Plus! Mag, the Oakley 3 grips! I saw a couple pairs in there. One blue and one white, I think. I had the yellow ones. Sadly, I had a cheap Huffy that weighed probably 30 pounds or better so I was always trying to get the cool parts. Araya rims, SR pedals, DK stem, Comp 3 tires, Dia Comp brakes. It was a struggle to get that bike decent. Thanks for bringing back some memories. Quick question; who remembers those quirky Quad Angle racing bikes?
Wow... This brings back so many memories! So much info on stuff I had forgotten about. I had a Webco and loved it! Saved every penny I could and spent it on my bike! Lol Never raced, but was all about trails, jumps and wheelies! I didn’t see any JMC’s, Cooks Bros., or Race in your collection. The bike I always wanted wanted was a RedLine Proline. I had the white forks though on my Webco. Don’t remember much about Webco...someone said they were made by Cooks Bros.? Anyway, I enjoyed this video! Thanks!
That's a cool collection, the words 'Dia Compe MX' took me back, I had a basic Ammaco back in the day. I have a set of original 'Odyssey type' grips (as you called them). They are in yellow and have the Mongoose logo on the ends.
I was too poor to own one of these , I’m 44 so I know every bike . The Diamond back with the white mags ...... that was my holy grail bike ....
That Redline and Hutch ...SCHWING!

Specialy the sticker of Motomag Magazine on the bike...

Just got into bikes recently I got a modern bmx right now but then I discovered these old school bikes and now I’m so obsessed with old bikes 😂
I had a 1987 Visage GT one of the dopest bike ever made...
Awesome man cave sir. Nice collection. My fav is that 95 gt! I wish I had one still.
Just turned 44 and had the '83 5 year old version and two redlines, the white in '85 and a chrome with red an black decals Not sure.
the diamond back silver was my first BMX and Mongoose motomag white s I always wanted one of those .very good collection
Heck ya old school baby!!🤙couldn’t afford these bikes but I ripped harder than any of my friends with the good bikes.now I ride my Dj P3,DJ Felt,P3 slope.I’m very satisfied. Bike Life
Very nice. I missed the 90s. Nice collection, i have bmx, my hi school days. Nostalgia.
I still have my GT Pro Series BMX Bike from around 1983!
Really cool collection. That mongoose M1 is dope.
I love that 79' Motomag 👍
Just found a picture of my old 87 baby blue GT performer w/ the white mags.... I have never seen so many Chicago bars in one place! Lol.
Killer goose collection thanks for keeping the history alive and in such good shape
The 87 Hutch Exel really stands out!
Thanks!
I was still in training wheels but I remember seeing the big kids riding these around town
The Diamondback was my dream bike back in the day, my friend had one. The Redline was another favorite, but I never actually seen one in person.
Nice collection. Thanks for sharing. My personal favourite is the GT interceptor. I have an 85 GT Pro Series all original that I've had since new.
That's a cool collection, the words 'Dia Compe MX' took me back, I had a basic Ammaco back in the day. I have a set of original 'Odyssey type' grips (as you called them). They are in yellow and have the Mongoose logo on the ends.
