I'm a windows user and have been contemplating the Mac switch for a long time. With iPad Pro and iPhone in hand, I'm moving closer to the decision.
I made the same decision a few months ago and it was actually worth it. It was actually the first time I had ever owned a Mac and I love it! Especially with my iPhone and iPad. :) Would recommend.
@@nathanstevenson100 Great Thank you. I'm a heavy Adobe user so that's a big one for me. I almost purchased the new 2020 iMac and then stopped because of the impending, now here, silicon. Then I thought, maybe a laptop with a monitor for when I'm home. Appreciate the input.

@@mallorydurrick I would say it’s likely coming sometime next year with the 24in iMac but who knows when that will be. So if you could wait for up to a year I’d say wait. If not, I doubt the 13in will let you down

And he is among the more 'famous' persons who appear on keynotes because he is typically the funny guy. You see craig federichgi funny clips comilation videos on youtube.
You guys always forget that an iPad can act as a second screen for the Mac, and this already IS a touch-screen. So may be this is what the controls are somewhat bigger than before. Not for the Mac itself, but for the side-screen.
You can't use the touchscreen when using Sidecar, it only works with Apple Pencil.

I don't really notice 4k on my 13" MBP. Anything above 1440p on such a small screen is just useless.
Old start up sound always has been in the system, you just had to turn it on. This new chime sounds very questionable right now.

No, you're right)
They were added to safari in Catalina after being introduced biting WWDC during the BigSur announcement. It was flagged as a Big Sur feature but released early because privacy is apple’s main concern.

Yeah, I think safari updated awhile back for everyone running recent versions of macos. I'm still running mojave, but I have this version of safari.

@@Mon-gx9xe they say that since the m1 is so efficient and the ram is unified(in the chip itself), 8gb is more than enough for casual users. But then again they say that if you upgrade the ram, the gpu will also “get better” so if you want better graphics performance go for the upgrade

@@Mon-gx9xe yup exactly, I mean look at the iPad Air 4, only 4 gb of ram but handles video editing way better than many other laptops with 8 gb. So just imagine the MacBook Air as a more powerful iPad Pro with even more ram (I think that’s appropriate 😅) and you can have infinite tabs open haha

1. Launch Terminal either by using Spotlight or going to Finder → Applications → Utilities and double-clicking on Terminal.
2. Copy and paste the following command in the Terminal window and hit
enter/return:
sudo nvram StartupMute=%00
3. It will ask for your password. Enter the password and hit enter/return.
4. Restart your Mac, and the startup chime will play.

For those holding off on Big Sur, I am currently on the latest Catalina. I notice it has a couple of the Safari features outlined: tab preview and trackers with the privacy report under the security icon.

I feel like the UI is kinda bad, especially the folder icons.... I get they want to unify ios and mac os but I don't think this is it
at 5:39 Luke pointed out you when to point out the arrow to get them all appear, i have found a way to get them to appear all the time, you must go to settings - keyboard -i’m the keyboard section it will display ‘Touch bar shows’ Quick actions, you will need to change this to ‘Expanded Control Strip’ and then you have all your function keys 😁👍🏻

I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro and it says “an error occurred during the installation”literally like 2 seconds after I click update, guess it’s not going to let me do it.

Big Sur has been an OS for over 2 months now. He's just doing a video about somethings that people didn't know about.
@@SuitedMoose but some of the features he mentioned came with the last version of Catalina. I think that's what they meant. Because the background on safari, the tab previews and the thing about website trackers and the "sheild" icon in safari here all there since the last version of macOS Carolina.
‘Mac are shit’ say some people, yet 2013/14 macs still receive most recent updates. And someone I know with a iPhone 6s got IOS 14.

You would only be able to install iOS apps if you are using the silicon m1 macs.

Mine was doing this too, I restarted my computer and went to the apple website, under Mac->Big Sur->Upgrade Now, I did that and then it started downloading

FYI the new startup chime is now in standard A440 hz tuning - and is a "F" chord. The old startup chime was also a F chord but was slightly sharp of an A440 tuned F, it sounded about 2 or 3 cents sharp of an A440 "F".

It seems that we can no longer have actual "FLAGS" directly next to our emails,... but are subjected to someone's random idea of 'organization' by having to go to a 'Flagged' folder to see what was flagged.
Am I missing something? Why would Apple rescind our ability of actually seeing what is or isn't flagged?

I have numerous performance issues on a 2015 MBP 13". It's been that way through the entire beta for me. Even my 16" still does weird stuff on it. I am definitely rolling back the 2015 into it's TM backup of Catalina. I'll ride it out on the 16". I have a sneaky feeling my new M1 13" coming Nov 24 will run it flawlessly, though.
Is it working fine now? I have a 2012 MBP running Monterey smoothly.
The chime has been transposed down by one semitone and converted to stereo. I like it.
Keyboard brightness adjustment in the menu will be useful on the new macbook air which doesn't have those keys

My MacBook Pro 16 2019, won't download but instead says installation error occurred for some reason and I've restarted the mac 2 times and the same thing with my wifi router
same for my 2 month old mac mini.
@@AlwaysLimey it did stated on the Apple System Status website that many users were downloading the big file at once and caused a huge blocking traffic that slowed the update down or even broke it for many users and I guess it affected a huge amount including us.

The new start up chime seems to be sounding like a "techno" singer that just couldn't get the right tune. Given a choice I prefer the sound of the old chime.
