My favourite anime movie of all time! However the Nausicaans don't seem to share many (or any) traits with the main character of the anime, Nausicaa herself.
I kinda wonder if they have a shared ancestry. The formation of their cranial ridges is extremely similar, as is the way their hair grows. Both of their societies could be viewed as alternate visions of honor, and indeed we see the moral compass of the Klingon Empire decay in the Nausicaan direction. I wonder, is there any sort of lost colony mythic in Klingon history? Perhaps an early space faring mission that was assumed lost?
They're different though. At their best the Klingons can keep their aggressive instincts in check and can be gruff but affable ''boisterous bruisers'' but the Nausicaans just seem to be vicious, violent, uncontrollable thugs.

After watching this, I can't help but think that the Vorcha from Mass Effect would have ended up with a culture similar to this if their planet hadn't been so harsh.
They certainly have a impressive set.
How about a video on the Kzinti? They originally appeared on TAS, but were recently acknowledged by Riker on ST: Picard. Researching this one may be a bit tricky since they originally came from Larry Niven's Ringworld stories.
I would normally not be that interested in Hutts but I know you will make them interesting.
>sees a Studio Ghibli reference in a Star Trek lore vid'<
Me: A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
There are other anime references as well. Nausicaä was produced by Animage, before Studio Ghibli existed.
@@fiveoctaves Technically yes, though the film is considered one of Studio Ghibli's formative works, alongwith the earlier 'Horus: Prince of the sun')
my ideas for future vids:
the predators/Yautja
Ionians and viddian in star trek
sith species and utapau's star wars
Pau'ans or utai?
My cat must have been a Meowsicaan then. =D
Hope your foot is doing better. You’re my favorite Trek channel and I missed it.
Damn I live for this shit ,great job Rick as always
Finally! My favorite species!
Favourite, awesome!
What makes them your favorite 🤔?
@@nathanielbables8652 When I was a kid, they were my favorite because I thought they were basically nomadic klingons XD
@@Tanulis makes sense, correct me if I'm wrong. But I believe Quark refers to them as one of the three most dangerous species in the galaxy next the klingons and Breen.
Nice alliteration at the beginning.
Looking forward for a Klingon Nausicaan war
I told my Nausicaan bodyguards to not stab Picard again.
Was that guy that was trapped with Picard, the completely pacifist guy and the blue ensign chick a nausicaan? He couldn't eat the -glycerine soap- food pucks they were provided from that tube in the middle
A new GI Joe video game is coming out soon and I am a fan of GI Joe so maybe do Cobra-la?
I always wondered if the Nausicans were related as a species to what Esoc was in that Episode of TNG where Picard was captured with three other people, while duplicates played them back home. He always reminded me of a Nausican and actually found him interesting.
maybe you should take a crack at the Kilrati from Wing commander series.
you could always look into the "Greater Terran Union" from The Templin Institute
A criminally underrated species, my STO character is a Nausican
9:40 Imagine if Starfleet did that.
The USS Testicles.
They’re Yautja.
We're heading through naussican space shields up captain we have no shields or weapons time to pray
Now I really want to see a buddy cop movie but with a nausicaan and a Klingon
They're like Star trek's Orks, but a bit more cultured. :)
If you're of a like mind with them, they'd be pretty cool to hang out with.
Can you please make a Cultural Index about Talaxians please?
Thank you nosicans are the only background species I've seen in ent tos and tng I have not seen do but I assume they are there as well.
Nausicaans always feel a little sick, 'cause, you know...it's in their name.
I suspect the language filters in STO would prevent any attempts to name a starship the USS Scrotum...
Anyway, how about a cultural index of the Yautja at some point? Completely unrelated to this video, of course.
Really though? Once I named my ship USS Balls without problem.
@@cmdrtianyilin8107 I once received a ship named the IKS Hor'kuk, which is a word best left out of polite conversations in my native language. I've never tried to give a ship an "obscene" name, but I did try to name a Boff "Wang" in honour of Garret Wang, and that was blocked.
@@patrikhjorth3291 I tried to name my Andorian boff (Tarsi) Th'ot and that got reported.
Super neat thanks.
Their appearance seemed to change between the earlier shoes and ''enterprise''. The changes were not for the better; they looked more alien, terrifying and strange in NG and DS9.
Uncontrolled Klingons? 😆 Good video, thanks... 👍
They listen to Tusk, by Fleetwood Mac. With all the pauses just as Lindsey Buckingham intended.
Torumekia, Pejitei, and the Valley of the Wind?
Can we open this Pandora's Box?
NAUSICAAN vs klingon?
I personally prefer the appearance of the Nausicaan make up in TNG and DS9, but I can appreciate that the Enterprise era make up is far easier to act through (and probably wear). Oh well, I can believe that the Nausicaans have a fair amount of bio-diversity, just like Klingons, Vulcans, Romulans, and IRL humans
The Nausicaans look somewhat similar looking and perhaps sinlar culture to the Chalnoth
of Chalna. I wonder if there some ancestral or evolutionary link between these two groups. Please consider doing a cultural index exploration of the Chalna people.
Have you done a video on the Star Trek Voyager species Horogen? If so I missed it, if not please do.
it's a failure in writing to suggest a species like this could have engineers capable of making spacecraft.
The Nausicans look like what would happen if a Klingon and Predator got it on. And they're just as violent as you'd think
They are in the Star trek Infinite game. I've never seen any shows with them in it.
What about female Nausicans? They were in the artwork, but you didn't mention them.
I think either the Bajorans or the Kelpiens (Star Trek) would make a good Cultural Index.
kelpians are not a good idea, discovery sucks
