Just bought one for my wife gave 11k for it which seemed like alot to me but these seem to have no chance of getting any cheaper, now is the time to buy. They are tough to find in good condition in the Chicagoland area.
I used to own a 2001 yellow Jeep Wrangler 4x4 with a lift and a plow she was a beauty had great off road tires on her. Put a lot of work into her and she was a lot of fun. I loved taking all the doors and tops completely off!
Really nice review! Definitely good for someone like me who's looking into getting this specific year model and trim. Also that was 100% Naperville you were driving thru, I'm a delivery driver in that area. Cool to see somewhere I know in a good review
I own a 2001 Wrangler. Bought it new...256,000 miles and that puppy still goes on. Other than normal expected worn parts ( on it's 3rd clutch, water pump, fuel pump, replaced rear bearings twice) never had issues. The straight 6 cyl has torque...torque...and more torque. And you're gonna have to empty a .357 magnum into it to kill it. He's right...its not made for luxury pavement driving. And he should have said " it gets you where you want to go ... and back".
Good review for those who don’t own a Jeep. I was looking more for a review on your mods. Probly all stock anyhow. 3” lift 33 warn winch custom built relay box for all the off road lights you could put on. If it looks pretty then it probly doesn’t go off road.
I had to bring a Jeep YJ into the shop a few months back and it was stick. This was when I was still a bit green to operating a stick shift vehicle. I kept stalling it because I didn't realize that I left the ebrake on. As I brought it in I thought to myself how the hell would someone off road a manual Jeep. It would take skillful clutch work to operate it on such extreme inclines. I'd love to own a TJ or YJ. I can't stand the JKs and the ones newer than those. (I don't care about the newer ones so much that I never took the time to look up the new chassis designation.
@@T3merity no you're the one that confused , from 1997- 2002 4.0 L only come with 3 speed 32 rh in automatic , from 2003 -2006 come with the 4speed 42RLE automatic , if u didn't change the transmission , I'm pretty sure that Jeep have 3 speed RH tranny
Alex Livingston They are still jeeps, Jeep has been bought by company after company but they are still jeeps, the new wranglers are more capable and drive better thanks to technology, which follows the likeness of the ford f-150, I like mechanics too with older vehicles because they are easier to work on but unless Jeep wants to die as a company they have to keep up with the market.
Mr. Unorthodox for a Jeep to be really a Jeep in my mind you have to be able to take it apart and put it back together easy to a point at least. With the new ones you need a technician to take it apart and fix it. In the words of half of America when trump got elected. "Not my Jeep"
Tyler Durden Yeah but the way the media portrays it is if you support trump you're a terrible person and people are afraid to support him in public because of the judgement. Personally I think hes a dick but hes better than Hillary.
Dreddy G. body rust, frame rust, main oil seal leak, check under the floor carpet for rust on the floor boards. run the engine and make sure there’s no ticking, and basically go over everything to make sure it looks good. btw, $10k seems a little steep, but then again, i haven’t seen it but you might be able to talk them down a bit. best of luck man, hope you get the TJ. i’m trying to get my hands on one myself ✌🏼
The best jeep ever made, the best wrangler ever made
elderscrolls Boethiah They sure hold their value. Around here TJs are all around 10k.
Got mine for 13k ... definitely high in price still down in the south
Michael Locy bought my tj for 12,500 expensive but worth every penny
Definitely and I love ur pp

If you ever come to Windsor, ON or Toronto, let me know. You can review my 6spd wrangler tj.

Maybe the transmission been change , because 2001 does not come with 4 speed with a 6 cylinders
4 speed with overdrive, 5 gears in total. Is that what is confusing you?

I bought a 2004 because it has a four speed automatic. Can cruise on the highway.
Great review and great points 👍
You sure is not a 3speed ? 4speed does come in till 2003
Yeah it should be a 3 speed if it’s a 2001 model
Are you saying the steering is loose ?
Great review, I have newer jku rubicon but I kinda wanna buy tj for weekender :)
That’s nice you have AC
Why do they even make automatics
For millennial jackasses like me who don't know how to drive stick but still want to drive a weird convertible off roader 😂😂😂
Kevin Bothwell learn I’m prob younger than you
@@beejel9628 but I don't wanna 😂
i need more subs out of u .... keep pushin
After this review you should try to test drive the new Jr wrangler and compare the way they drive
Mr. Unorthodox Yes, because new Jeeps aren't actually Jeeps anymore. They don't drive like the old ones after Fiat bought them

Alex Livingston Hahaha! Actually most of America supports Trump. Hell, he won the election in a landslide.

how does it drive on the highway? rough?
Harley Davidsons have a similar culture
I saw a 2001 wrangler sport... black one with 98K miles at a dealership. They want $10K for it. Condition looks good. What should I look out for?
