    Just finished a complete clutch change on my 2008 Polo Cross 1.9 diesel using this video. Drove it and it works perfectly. Bought the clutch on Autodoc and paid 250€. Asked a workshop what they would charge me for a clutch change and they said around 1500€😳😳 So thanks man you are a true inspiration and make amazing videos with perfect angels.

      Honestly. It was great reading your review. As that’s the main reason i shoot the videos. To help others with minimal skill to have a go. Glad it went well. 🍻🍻🍻

    Sir I applaude you,. It took two of us over a few bottles of beer to accomplish this task and you did it on your own, in the outside, with rain, and a crappy floor! whilst taking footage! We started at 10am and did not finish till 6.30pm but we did take a 3 hour break down the Coach and Horses.

    Another quality job Kev I’ve been using one of those clutch alignment tools for a good few years now they work every time nothing worse than struggling with a heavy box and having to put it down again because of miss alignment.

      @@WMCS ive built cars an motorcycles the last 35 years, never had a guard on a grinder in my life. No serious bodily injuries from it either, a few battle scars lol nothing super glue with reactor spray can't fix. I must say my days of working on the pavement like yourself are over. People have no idea the extra difficulties it creates. Ask new young mechanics todo a gearbox on the pavement and they will not even have axle stands. I did build myself a set of portable ramps that split in half for back of van. Lifts the vehicle up just under 3 feet level by using a trolly jack. Ive retired but have enough cars and bikes to tinker on round the house. Mostly my work was bodywork and fabrication along with paint. I find people try to haggle to much now, want the best mirror finish but are not willing to pay for the extra hours it takes.
      I am very impressed by the level of work you show while making videos also, thats impressive buddy as I'd get confused and mess things up lol

    wow! that clutch was in a bad state, great idea for getting at the bolts on the DMF, had a similar problem on a ford ranger, but luckily there was two of us, my mate managed to wrench the face plate around while I got the socket in to undo the bolts, a big problem on your own but you got round that easily. Brill job keep 'em coming...

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 роки тому

      Before I graduated onto the grinder. I used to hammer it back round with a chisel. It does move but about an hour of constant hammering.
      It’s always great to get feedbacks from someone that’s done the job and know what it’s like.

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 роки тому +2

      Hey Jem.., they are usually a pain when it gets to this stage .,, the centre spacers at this point has been completely obliterated and the top part of the DMF goes out of alignment and seizes itself together

    • @jemmace2586
      @jemmace2586 4 роки тому

      @@WMCS Yes, I had a good idea that that was the problem when I saw the bolts out of alignment with the holes through to access them. I also noticed the small lift you gave the car, with the planks you used under the wheels to help with the lifting of the car, you know to reach the height you needed to stop having to use the jack, to then get the jack right under to the the most central position giving you the best point of lift at the sub-frame, right at the very end of the video, TOP TIP!! :)

    Hi Kevin. Gave you a thumbs up. Do these motors also have a pilot ball bearing on the motor side, behind the flywheel, or it’s not the case here? If there is, they say it should also be replaced with this occasion. Also many would argue that since your at it, one should use the opportunity to also change the gasket on the crankshaft. What’s your take on this? Would very much appreciate a somewhat thorough answer. 10X.

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  3 роки тому +1

      Pilot bearing is a bit of a thing from the past. If it still has one it’s usually pre mounted in the flywheel already.

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 роки тому

      Yes. The flywheel had turned from dual mass to solid and seized itself.,, it happens when the DMF goes and you carry on driving on it., if it goes off centre there’s a good chance the spinning force will crack the bell housing.

    Cylinder "A" 72,00-72.01 /// Piston "A" 71,965-71,97

    I have this car with same engine, my dmf is a little bit noisy when idling in neutral with clutch out, the clutch plates were replaced at one stage, but the mechanic never replaced the dmf when he was doing it, will it cause damage eventually? thanks

    Do you just specialise in clutches ? How many one average do you do in a week ? Sorry for the questions I admire your work my friend.

      No probs at all northernman..🍻🍻.,,
      I’ve been doing it for nearly 8 years now. The first 5 years I used to do two a day Monday to Saturday .,, but I had to start really early 05:00am and finish late about 07:00pm.
      Since I’m now in my mid 40’s I only do one a day Monday to Saturday.,
      So I leave home about 08:00am and usually back by 2-3pm..,
      How about yourself. I take it you’re in the trade 🍻🍻🎄✨

      Yes you’re wrong .,, it’s a sealed unit ., unless you’re releasing the pressure then there’s no need to mess around with it.

    so good but why remove inside in joints u dont need to remove that

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 роки тому +1

      Otherwise the flange will anchor itself at the back of the flywheel and may cause a lot of hassle in getting the gearbox out.

    2:43 why there is a hole? what can be accesed there?

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  2 роки тому

      That’s to access the back panel in case it needs to come out to replace end bearing from main shaft. Great idea

    Why cut the flywheel like that ?

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 роки тому

      I suppose the emotional cut didn’t work. So I had to resort to a mechanical ⚙️ one ☝️🎄✨🍻😁

    whats the most clutches youve done in a day?

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 роки тому +1

      No more than two a day. I’ve cut back to one a day now. I think I’ve nailed that work vs life balance.
