Respect to this man, i used to work as a mechanic up to 16 years ago, i found some clutch jobs to be a nightmare even with the luxury of a 2 poster lift. Theres not many people out there that would even attempt this on the ground. Great video 👍

Not only is it entertaining to watch, but if you were to have any complaints from the clients you can pull up the video and prove that you were showing due diligence with the install. Your work is truly inspiring in a special way. I used to let your videos play on the TV whilst working in the home office here in germany (most people would possibly watch a music stream or something), it kind of has a calming effect to see the clean and concentrated work and hear the wrenches and spanners in the background. Also telling a lot of friends about this "crazy guy that does mobile clutch services for a living" - highly appreciate your work and videos ! Even more after having done the clutch on my UK import E46 M3 last week. All the best from a foreign petrolhead mate !

I've seen a gearbox fall on someone's chest before.
usually the risk outweighs the reward.
you must have good paying customers.
I find that customers are happy to pay £100 labour for a 30 minute job (brake pads & disc) rather than £200 for a 4 hour job.
that's some of the reasons why I don't take on these type of jobs unless its in a garage with a good Ramp(lift) and gearbox jack.

its good money to work like this. no overheads, apart from tools - but once you own them they're yours forever. drive to clients and do the work, keep all the labour costs for yourself. when you take a car to a garage, the overheads are huge, they are vat registered so vat is 20% there's markup by the garage owner who makes a profit on the labour.
But not every job goes this smoothly, work on a 18 year old car, and it's going to be a stringgle. I remember on my golf mechanics cam across stumbling blocks at every step. draveshaft stuck on the spindle, 10+ different things to undo/remove to get access to the gearbox, lots of seized bolts.

@@mrhaltstop2294 no, just a normal garage with mechanics as employees. If they charge you £200 labour to do a clutch job. How much of the £200 is going to go to the mechanic? Probably half that goes on wages, the rest is taken by the garage as profit and overhead expense.

Great Job specially doing it solo! Zen and Clutch replacements. Really soothing to watch a Master at work. The way he inspects and cleans. grease dabs at the proper spots. proper torque of every bolt. the prep work before the day. The eye on safety because he IS solo. My Respect to You Sir!

I ran a mobile pre-purchase vehicle inspection service while studying, after doing the same at the AA. Working unassisted in someone's driveway is not my idea of fun: not all jobs are straightforward, parts may be incorrectly supplied or break during removal/refitting, no thank you. Respect to you for taking this on. I love the interlocking thermal mat.

Now mate have you ever had a customer accept the price you have given them for a clutch replacement and then once you have completed the job have they tried haggling you down on the price or have you ever done a clutch and they have refused to pay if so what would you do? Would you strip it back down and remove the clutch or do you get paid in advance, only asking as with me if they try haggling or refuse to pay they aren't taking their car out of my unit where as you can't hold their car as you doing it at their home or place of work.

The part i worry the most is getting the transmission housing back in place. I dont think i have the strength for that, a bit old. But nonetheless the difficulty level is high to do this at the sidewalk and to do this day in and out is indeed one that is insane or gifted.

    The Clutch Ninja strikes again.
Your parts supplier must be superb as you always seem to have the right parts with no issues. You must weigh in a lot of scrap. Never seen so many knackered duel mass flywheels.
