  • The PATS system in my 2001 Ford Ranger was malfunctioning, this is what I did to get it started. Thanks for watching!

Took the chip outta my key and glued it to the side because I installed a new ignition from ebay that fits but keys were not chipped but with the chip glued in place it starts. Although on real hot days it gives me some problems at times so I have to take my finger and press on the chip to get started but all in all it works

Thank you so much I was ready to junk this f150 4x4 standard, I use the truck for many things around the farm . The ignition wouldn't turn and I beat out the ignition. Trying to bypass the security in the back woods was impossible but with your comment about the key ring being the entena I was able to get security shut off , ignition was destroyed but on this ford there is a white box under the dash that I can start and stop truck with. I was ready to give up until your video .

I think this video is helpful, thanks for posting it. Any time you have a functional PATS system and it can read the chip from the key that's close by, that will satisfy PATS. Some guys will tape the chip out of a good key to or near the ring (transceiver module). Those remote start alarm systems do something similar. They add a box that acts like a transceiver module, and you put a spare key in the box, the box reads the key, and is wired into the PATS system. The problem with that is the "magic box" always fails after a couple years because they aren't OEM quality.
FYI, I can delete PATS permanently from the PCM so any key that turns the lock cylinder will start the truck. The service (at the time I wrote this) is about $100, and you just send me the PCM. When you get it back, PATS is gone... permanently.

That is awesome, if I ever feel the need to have it removed from a vehicle I'll comment again and reach out.

@Tommy Meader even if I told you every detail of how to do it, you still wouldn't be able to do it without special software and hardware that costs a lot of money. Just send me your PCM, and I'll do it for you.

Would you do a deal if I send 2 pcms? Like $150?

@@dragradialperformance3540 I don't get it... so $100 each flat rate, seems worth it. How do i initiate this?

You have the key so you're not bypassing anything

The truck wasn't reading the key before I made the video and experimented.
