- ⚓🛳️Today we check into the Holiday Inn, in Southampton, which is metres away from the City Cruise Terminal.
🚗Parking here is £15 per night.
🪟🛳️Our room number was 601, so on the 6th floor with the category being standard harbour view.
👎🍽️So the restaurant!! I ordered the “Classic Beef Lasagne” this is something I often eat when I’m out and about and while it was perfectly edible, it tasted like no Lasagne I’d eaten before, maybe just the herbs the cook had used.
👎🍕But the biggest issue was my husband's “Hand Made Pizza” well it looked like the cheapest readymade supermarket pepperoni pizza you’ve ever seen and an overcooked one at that!! He ate about half, but it was pretty inedible. The waitress asked if everything was ok and we told her our thoughts on the pizza and she just took the plates away. The cheque was for the full amount, so £16 for a poor show of a pizza and over £50 in total. 👎👎👎👎
👎💷We just paid what was due (no tip) and left. We won’t be eating there on future stays.
💜💜Regardless of the negatives which the high price is one, we loved our stay there, the comfy bed, the proximity to the cruise terminal we were sailing from and the view from the window. We will stay there again and have in fact booked a stay for our next cruise.

The Holiday Inn in Southampton looks nice and convenient to the cruise terminal! So cool to see the ships. Nice room tour! Love the usb ports by the bed. Awe the seagull at the window, too cute! Nice there's a restaurant but good tip on others to go to. Love the views of the water. Too bad there are some negatives but glad the bed was comfy and a great price point. 20,000 passengers wow. The pink and purple shades of the sky with the Queen Mary 2 pulling out is such a great shot. Yay for Anthem of the Seas pulling in! Looks like such a lovely ship!! The night before a cruise is always so exciting! Thanks for bringing us along Nettie :)
It was a great location, not cheap but worth it for the views alone. I am pleased I booked it early for our cruise next year (for a similar price that we paid this year), as the price as now doubled as there is a big concert in the area that night 😲😲

Good review of the Holiday inn that was a nice bathroom looked new. Nice reasonable meal. Great shot of the seagull up close. I would have also loved just watching all the ships come and go especially at night with all the lights! Enjoyed this video I would want to stay here too. Its unfortunate how these convenient hotels are so expensive! Nice video!

Fabulous room tour, and very useful insights about what you discovered.
We've cruised twice in the last 2 years from Southampton, travelling in on the actual embarkation day, but would certainly consider this as an overnight option after seeing your video 👍
To be honest whether cruising or flying somewhere, we like to stay over the night before, it reduces the stress and adds another day to our holiday 💜. Even with its downfalls we have booked this hotel again next year in the hope we get the same awesome views.

Wow, 5 cruise ships in port all at the same time. That's a lot of people embarking and disembarking! I remember being in Southampton years ago, I think we stayed a night there before exploring the southern coastline. It didn't seem that busy then so must be very different now.
I suppose on our full day there, we got on a ferry up the coast for the day, then on our embarkation day we got on the ship early, so luckily we didn't notice the crowds. But yes I bet you would in the middle of the day!

Great hotel review! The Holiday Inn is in one of the best locations in Southampton for pre cruise stays but it’s expensive.
Your room was lovely and the views were spectacular. The food looked great too.
I usually park in the WestQuay multi-storey car park for £5 a day so maybe take a look at that if you want to save some money?
We've booked it again for next year and the price has since doubled to over £400 a night, presumably as there is a Take That concert in Southampton that night! That's really cheap to stay at West Quay, so certainly worth us considering for the future.

Great review, how did you manage to film it without the flickering i always get when doing indoor lighting? Spotless classy shower. Yikes, not a fan of the restaurant! We looked at staying here next year, love the fact you're SO close to the ships, but how was the hotel parking? First come first served? Parking is a BIG thing for us
For our weekend this year, during the 48 hours we were at the hotel there were always places. We are the same with parking, so on the day of our arrival, we got there at around midday, to increase our chances and left our car parked for the next 48ish hours, before moving it to the cruise parking.
We stayed here in July and could NOT find a parking space. We were told
To park on the grass. Next morning it was a case of sitting in the car waiting for Someone to
Leave. It was awful.
