To be honest, given how we’re all used to living with social distancing nowadays etc it didn’t feel empty, there was still atmosphere but it was very safe! And lots of fun!
A group of us booked a three-night out of Port Canaveral for October and even though the website says you can upgrade your basic drink package to Plus, MSC is telling the TA that you cannot do that on a three or four-night cruise - what's your experience this cruise?
U.K and U.S cruise terms do differ. At the moment U.K sailings are including the premium drinks package but I have seen on various forums people upgrading to the premium plus. We had the premium plus on our cruise which was only 4 nights. 🤷🏼

Beautiful ship it's like the MS Meraviglia. Love that pub. Can you tell me about how many people are on this ship? Did they require a vaccine mandate and when and where do you wear a mask? Thanks
Very similar to Meraviglia! There were 900 passengers on this cruise- but max is 1k. Crew are 1300! So you get spoilt! Lol 😂 Vaccine proof is on the NHS app I believe, but you don’t need to be vaccinated you just have to take a lateral flow test (NHS) at least 72hrs before your cruise/ the negative result email or text is used as proof- you then have another test at the terminal before boarding. Masks are worn in all public areas- except when sat down, or eating or drinking or outside if you socially distance yourself. Hope this helps! ❤️⚓️
It wasn’t that bad, a few waves on the first day but it soon died down. It was a great cruise in the end, we managed to use the water park and pools too! 👌🏻❤️⚓️
Hopefully things will turn around! It was very safe onboard! I think it’s a safer way to travel at the moment not mixing nationalities etc and Australia is an island - if the U.K can do it you’d think Australia can 🤞🏻 hopefully this is the beginning of cruising restarting permanently ❤️⚓️👍🏻
Sorry we’ve only just been able to reply to everyone it’s been a very fun few days! 😅 we didn’t use the machines this time. I think they either work by using your card/wrist band and deducting/paying out via your onboard account. There was a desk so I’m assuming that’s where you would buy your chips? Not entirely sure though, sorry 😞

It somehow works- we’ve experienced MSC Bellissima (before covid) it’s busy, but still easy to navigate and enjoy. There’s so much onboard the full passenger capacity never congregates there all at once. ❤️⚓️👌🏻

I can’t say we ever noticed. We didn’t come across anyone smoking inside. Outside now and again yes, I think by the amphitheater. There must be designated areas, but we never came across them. Sorry 😞
With the significantly reduced capacity, I would also assume that the service crew is reduced accordingly. Do you know, therefore, if in that regard, every onboard crew member - as a health protocol - is living in a single occupancy cabin? The one concern I have always had about cruise ships is that crew members, for the most part - including dining room waiters and cabin attendants - live in multi berth cabins. The biggest complain I had often heard from crew members when I worked in the cruise business with V.Ships (among other things a major crewing agency) was lack of privacy and the limited opportunity to ever be alone. Hospitals, which used to have only shared rooms, have in many cases been able to create space so that they only offer single occupancy from, without significantly reducing occupancy. There is no reason from naval architects could not do the same thing with cruise ships. Indeed when my boss at V.Ships, its Chairman/CEO Mauro Terrevazzi, spoke at a Miami Seatrade Conference I attended with him, he announced that the forthcoming Silversea Cruises ships we were developing would only have single occupancy crew quarters, but he knew that was a bold face lie as its owner (who had recently gotten out of an Italian prison where he had served time for fraud & bribery),would not allow it.
There was more crew than passengers on this particular cruise. 1300 I believe and the ship didn’t sail full so I think I saw somewhere 900. As you could imagine the service was 👌🏻. We spoke to crew, they have their own cabins at the moment (passenger cabins as well as crew ones) and they’ve all had at least 1 vaccine too. We felt very safe onboard, it was a great cruise
@@CruiseMonkeys That's helpful. MSC is able to keep crew safe now because of the reduced passenger capacity they can use guest cabins to provide single occupancy and social distancing,. What is concerning is that as they increase guest numbers, the crew will not be able to socially distance and will have to share.
@@StuartFalk true, but they’ve had their first vaccine and MSC have paid for them privately so I’m assuming they can have the second dose sooner. By the time passenger capacity increases to anything pre pandemic all of the guests would have had at least 1 jab and the testing will still be being conducted prior boarding 🤷🏼 these cruises are all just U.K and U.K guests atm that also helps.

A group of us booked a three-night out of Port Canaveral for October and even though the website says you can upgrade your basic drink package to Plus, MSC is telling the TA that you cannot do that on a three or four-night cruise - what's your experience this cruise?
U.K and U.S cruise terms do differ. At the moment U.K sailings are including the premium drinks package but I have seen on various forums people upgrading to the premium plus. We had the premium plus on our cruise which was only 4 nights. 🤷🏼

Very similar to Meraviglia! There were 900 passengers on this cruise- but max is 1k. Crew are 1300! So you get spoilt! Lol 😂
Vaccine proof is on the NHS app I believe, but you don’t need to be vaccinated you just have to take a lateral flow test (NHS) at least 72hrs before your cruise/ the negative result email or text is used as proof- you then have another test at the terminal before boarding.
Masks are worn in all public areas- except when sat down, or eating or drinking or outside if you socially distance yourself. Hope this helps! ❤️⚓️

It wasn’t that bad, a few waves on the first day but it soon died down. It was a great cruise in the end, we managed to use the water park and pools too! 👌🏻❤️⚓️

Hopefully things will turn around! It was very safe onboard! I think it’s a safer way to travel at the moment not mixing nationalities etc and Australia is an island - if the U.K can do it you’d think Australia can 🤞🏻 hopefully this is the beginning of cruising restarting permanently ❤️⚓️👍🏻

Sorry we’ve only just been able to reply to everyone it’s been a very fun few days! 😅 we didn’t use the machines this time. I think they either work by using your card/wrist band and deducting/paying out via your onboard account. There was a desk so I’m assuming that’s where you would buy your chips? Not entirely sure though, sorry 😞

Good question- but if we’re totally honest we didn’t use it on this cruise, we just popped in to have a look at it on embarkation day. Sorry 😞

It wasn’t too bad a few wobbly waves on the first night, nothing too serious though, the second day was I bit windy but it was a good cruise, we managed to swim in the pools - even in the outside ones, and use the Aquapark & Ropes Course! ❤️⚓️

The hall in the shopping and bar district seem very narrow. I cannot even imagine a cruise with 6000 people going through there.
It somehow works- we’ve experienced MSC Bellissima (before covid) it’s busy, but still easy to navigate and enjoy. There’s so much onboard the full passenger capacity never congregates there all at once. ❤️⚓️👌🏻

In the sky lounge is the smoking area a separate room?
I can’t say we ever noticed. We didn’t come across anyone smoking inside. Outside now and again yes, I think by the amphitheater.
There must be designated areas, but we never came across them. Sorry 😞

With the significantly reduced capacity, I would also assume that the service crew is reduced accordingly. Do you know, therefore, if in that regard, every onboard crew member - as a health protocol - is living in a single occupancy cabin? The one concern I have always had about cruise ships is that crew members, for the most part - including dining room waiters and cabin attendants - live in multi berth cabins. The biggest complain I had often heard from crew members when I worked in the cruise business with V.Ships (among other things a major crewing agency) was lack of privacy and the limited opportunity to ever be alone. Hospitals, which used to have only shared rooms, have in many cases been able to create space so that they only offer single occupancy from, without significantly reducing occupancy. There is no reason from naval architects could not do the same thing with cruise ships. Indeed when my boss at V.Ships, its Chairman/CEO Mauro Terrevazzi, spoke at a Miami Seatrade Conference I attended with him, he announced that the forthcoming Silversea Cruises ships we were developing would only have single occupancy crew quarters, but he knew that was a bold face lie as its owner (who had recently gotten out of an Italian prison where he had served time for fraud & bribery),would not allow it.
There was more crew than passengers on this particular cruise. 1300 I believe and the ship didn’t sail full so I think I saw somewhere 900. As you could imagine the service was 👌🏻. We spoke to crew, they have their own cabins at the moment (passenger cabins as well as crew ones) and they’ve all had at least 1 vaccine too.
We felt very safe onboard, it was a great cruise
@@CruiseMonkeys That's helpful. MSC is able to keep crew safe now because of the reduced passenger capacity they can use guest cabins to provide single occupancy and social distancing,. What is concerning is that as they increase guest numbers, the crew will not be able to socially distance and will have to share.
@@StuartFalk true, but they’ve had their first vaccine and MSC have paid for them privately so I’m assuming they can have the second dose sooner. By the time passenger capacity increases to anything pre pandemic all of the guests would have had at least 1 jab and the testing will still be being conducted prior boarding 🤷🏼 these cruises are all just U.K and U.K guests atm that also helps.
