Hey cruise fans and welcome back to Ray and Sue's Travel Channel. We undertook a 6 day British Isles cruise on the beautiful Celebrity Silhouette in July 2021. It was the inaugural sailing of the ship following the lock down of cruising and we were pleased to be aboard her. Check out the pre cruise stay at the Holiday Inn and parking and embarkation here. We hope you find this video informative and helpful. Enjoy.
I’ve used that Holiday Inn pre-cruise before. I also used Uber to get from that hotel to the Mayflower terminal. Uber cannot identify that hotel easily. Thankfully, the driver was good about it and was able to find us and everything went OK. Very convenient hotel albeit outdated.
Holiday Inn is a great place to stay we have stayed many times. We are in Sydney we fly to London stay a couple of days and take the train from Waterloo to Southampton cab to hotel we cruise out of Sydney these days the long trip takes days to recover. Happy cruising from Sydney

Hey Diana. Thanks for the comments. Much appreciated. Glad to hear our Australian friends frequent the Holiday Inn and that you enjoyed the video. Much more to see on the channel including the Celebrity cruise ship series we shared on the Hotel tour. Take care. Stay safe and happy cruising Diana. Ray and Sue from the UK.
Hey Lyn. You're going to love her. She's a fantastic ship. Check out more of her here. Happy New Year. ua-cam.com/play/PL1s3M0opPhVp5D1tSKVmzJSozDv4iAbBX.html
Laurie. If you are at the City cruise terminal (typically royal and celebrity) then yes you can walk through gate number 8. If you are sailing from any other terminal then suggest an uber. Hotel does not do shuttles but check out the video to see how close it is to the parking and terminals.
@@RaySuesTravelChannel I did check out the video that’s why I asked because there was no video of you walking to the terminal. I wasn’t sure if there are sidewalks for pedestrian traffic.
@@Laurie911 Laurie. Thanks for watching. Yes there are sidewalks and the city cruise terminal us about 200 yds. If you are at a different terminal or are at all worried about port entry just grab an uber. What terminal are you sailing from, cruiseline etc.?
@@RaySuesTravelChannel Our first cruise coming in to Southampton is Celebrity Silhouette then we stay at that Holiday Inn and leave on Norwegian Dawn the next day then get off Norwegian Dawn and same day get on RC Anthem of the Seas
I've stayed at this hotel many times and have always enjoyed it. My only complaint is that the health club/swimming pool didn't reopen after the pandemic & is (I hear) due for demolition, if it hasn't already gone.
Please help with this question. I will be doing a transatlantic cruise in April leaving from New York and ended in South Hampton is there an Airport in South Hampton
Hi Carolyn. There is an airport at Southampton but it is a regional airport. If you're US based you would need to transfer to London Gatwick or Heathrow for a return flight back to the States. You could get a coach or train to those airports from Southampton. Hope that helps.
Check out my previous reply Carolyn. Its a regional airport and jnlikely to accommodate transatlantic international flights. Though it may be possible to fly there from London, Dublin or Belfast assuming you fly into there first and get a connecting flight. If I were looking for the easiest option, I would fly into London and get a coach transfer to Southampton coach station which is a short uber ride to the port. Hope that helps. Ray
