Imo. The tcus don’t launch that well. My tork tcu auto shifting best I’ve saw was 3.8 0-60 11.8 1/4. With the brake snip to launch and tcu to shift I was running consistent 11.6-7 1/4 1.7-8 60ft. Best I saw was an 1.70 60 ft 11.54 1/4 at 2800rpms. Now with cpi on E30 still I run a consistent 11.5 1/4
Make sure to read the guide on the LAP3 page. If you don't have a LAP3 ECU tune, max RPM you should be using is about 5000RPM in the first few gears, and upto 5500RPM from 3rd and on. Revving out past 5000RPM is going to lose a lot of power. ECU tune has better powerband, so you can rev it up to 6000RPM. You also need to launch it while in D. Click the paddle around 4000-4500RPM in 1st gear, so you can get it to shift around 5k. If you have a LAP3 ECU tune, 0-60 in 3.5 sec, and 11.5sec 1/4 mile is easily doable.
Awesome video! would have to completely agree with everything on your pros and cons. "dollars to donuts"! made me LOL for sure! Sourcing out an Extea TCU unit for my car was a big pain in the ass , TORQ said it had to match exactly what was in my GT2 . I think I spent 1100.00 in total shipping and getting a spare TCU including the Tune.😢 keep the videos rolling , much appreciate your time making these ( especially canadian content 😊)
Thank you! I really appreciate the comment. I try to be an average guy trying regular products. I’m no expert and I’m sure a lot of people can relate. I want to show what gives value vs what doesn’t. Things are expensive for these cars. I try to help where I can.
I was referring to cost when I said mid range. Lozic is the middle of the Pack for price point. I wasn’t knocking their quality, because I have never used one, so I can’t form an opinion.
I have a Tork ecu and tcu tune with my jb4 running the wmi kit from bms. It's FBO. My best draggy 0 to 60 (awd) was 3.7, and I had a passenger. I tried again recently and held the boost a tad too long and got a 3.5. I love the setup, it's stupid fast but hard launching a lot, I think will break something. It's violent! Definitely much cheaper than going lap3 and I've had no issu..I'm not gonna say it.
Just went to the track this weekend using the Lozic TCU 1.71 60ft 12.1 quarter mile JB4 map 3 definitely more in her if had the time to let the car cool off
That’s an awesome time! What rpm did you leave on? I was able to get my best quarter mile time this weekend on map 5. I had a 3.87 0-60 and an 11.89 quarter.
Lol sometime I have heard that. It’s tough listen back to yourself in the edit. I’m just stating to get use to it. I’m not sure much people actually like their own voice when they hear it back.
Awesome content brother! Keep it up. I have been on the fence about which TCU tune to go with too. My logical side is telling me if I keep the JB4 set up as my primary tuning option.. Go with the least amount of cash TCU option! (prob TORK at this time in life 😂) If I plan on a complete ECU/TCU combo deal. I will need to find a matching company set. Again, thanks for the great and informative info in your videos! 👍
Thank you! I really appreciate the kind words. I have tested every possible map on the jb4 except customizing map 6. I have tried every rpm range to shift and I can consistently do 4sec 0-60. I think to get faster I need cpi or an ecu tone or both. The tcu just doesn’t make the car a ton quicker with a jb4, but my expectation were probably to high, because from the factory launch I was able to shave a lot of time off in retrospect.
i just purchased a lozic tcu for my G70 it is a learning curve on how to launch but one thing is when paddle shifting, shifting in 1st at 4800rpm keeps you you in the boost, sounds crazy but it's been proven
I agree, and off camera I’d pull the paddle at 4800 and it would shift just before 5500. I think lozic is a bit more aggressive. Lap3 is a bit more on the tame side I feel. It shift super smooth when cruising around. I want to say it’s smoother then the stock tcu.
When I was running JB4, I found the stock ECU pulling things back on launch. It seemed the higher the map, the more the ECU intervened. I would be curious to see your results with JB4 set to map 0 (stock) and then Map 1.
@@OVRBoosted The main thing I am worried about it running into issues later on and then pulling up in a health check that the tcu was replaced at some point and the miles don't add up or something like that. Otherwise I trust it for reliability.

@@EverydayZach hmmm I did a 3.7 on a jb4 post your numbers. I dont claim to be a race care driver. Make your channel and school is idiots how to launch star
@@EverydayZach Sorry, not offended. I’m under the understanding that if you’re on the pedal to long that you risk stalling the torque converter. I also have been told to bring it up quickly to around 5psi boost then let go. The reason behind this is because the transmission in these cars can’t handle to much of a beating. They are the weak link. I have confirmed on the jb4 that I do build about 5psi when I do it like that. It’s all good and I apologize. However that’s my reasoning
@@OVRBoosted Great explanation! I personally have a 2019 Kia Stinger GT2 on stock tune. I drag every Friday night and personally have had no issues with the transmission or the TQ converter stalling out. (personally haha) I have noticed it takes a second or two on RPM's for my car to build boost (and this could just be a tune difference honestly and more then likely is) so my comment is more based on my own experiences with boost. I have had other cars that take a moment to build boost as well but I was running 8-12 pounds at launch. The way I personally think about this is, when you slam the pedal down and the rpm's rise, the BOV(Diverter valves) close and it takes a moment to fully charge the entire system and if we let off the brake while the system is fully charging to that 5 psi, yes the PSI will continue to build as the RPM's rise after the 1.5-1.9K launch but we loose torque and HP due to it not having the charge pipes, intercooler, and intake fully pressurized. but this is just my take on it. I noticed a harder launch and faster 0-60 when you held the RMP's a little longer (This was the 4 wheel burnout you did) and is really the only reason I decided to comment. I have not heard that the transmissions are the weak link in these cars but now you have me a little worried and I will be doing some much needed research as If this is true, how terrible my transmission is after I have beaten the crap out of it for the last 9 months hahaha.. One would definitely think and maybe it is. I just find I’m a bit quicker when I shift right in the power curve.
How rough is this on the transmission
It’s really safe for the transmission as long as you don’t use the hyper launch over what’s recommended.

They only produce 1 stage now and I believe it’s the stage 2. You cannot buy anything else. I think they did that to save transmissions on cars.
