    Installed HKS the other day as my first install upon which to build from. I got mine from BMS and also purchased the gapping tool and the magnetic socket. It was very easy to gap them correctly. The install takes about 1.5 hours due to the center passenger plug issues but all the others are super easy - as long as you have the right tool for the job. I noticed you were in a dimly lit garage. You’ll want to have a good headlamp or friend to hold a bright LED flashlight. Just follow the various UA-cam videos and you’ll be good to go.
    Note: my aFe intakes have been shipped and can’t wait to get them installed.

      Yessir, already got them gapped! Hopefully will only take about 45 minutes tops. Bank 5 is really the only difficult one to get to. And you will love the aFe!!

    I installed the JB4 + plugs + ethanol analyzer + Pedal Commander on my G80 TT and run map 3 using straight E30 fuel = a completely different car. My 300k mi F150 in 4x4 gets better MPG, but I didn't buy the G80 for fuel economy.

      Also since you have E30, you should check out map4!

    What's the benefit of this type of tuner over a standard ECU tune without the plug and play additions of JB4? Thanks

    • @-kjlifestyle-
      @-kjlifestyle-  Рік тому +1

      Very easy to customize and change maps without having to remove the ECU, or plug in a computer. Not planning on doing anything too crazy and this tune still ads over 100hp when you get into map 4 on E.

    • @rbjohnson78
      @rbjohnson78 Рік тому +5

      @@-kjlifestyle- The benefit of having an ECU tune though is a much better driving experience. I've never worried about the map switching ever since I got my Lap3 tune. It is more refined than other ECU tunes currently, and my personal opinion is it's better than a JB4. The power delivery is so much better. JB4 really helps the most at WOT. It doesn't seem to do to much normal driving. Pair the ECU with a TCU tune and you have a whole new beast. The biggest benefit is the price, for the JB4. You can find a used one pretty cheap now days. Lap3 ECU tune is expensive, but depending on what you're looking for, it's worth it. So, if you just want to wake it up a little, JB4 all the way. You want to push the car, ECU tune.

    Is there a burble tune map for the Jb4? Not like those obnoxious pops and crackles ricer sounding stuff. Like the German car quality burbles

    • @-kjlifestyle-
      @-kjlifestyle-  Рік тому

      Unfortunately not. I noticed some slight burbles once I had my exhaust and more so with downpipes. Nothing like a German b58 bang though

  • @jedi7158

    Here's a question. When you install JB4, can you install it and leave it, or do you have to download the app and use the map every time you drive e?

    • @-kjlifestyle-
      @-kjlifestyle-  Рік тому +1

      When you install it, it will automatically be in map 1. You could leave it but at that point there is no benefit to running E until map 3. It only takes the click of a button to change. I also wouldn’t reccomend leaving it in map 3 to daily for the sake of the HKS plugs you should have installed for map 3 and higher.

    have you seen the amount of hp it kicks out with the JB4 yet? maybe on the dyno im just wondering how much hp i can expect out of it.

    • @-kjlifestyle-
      @-kjlifestyle-  Рік тому

      I have yet to put my car on a dyno, but there are lots of other videos of singers with the JB4, Intakes, Exhaust, and downpipe‘s on the dyno out there. From a videos of other dyno charts, I can make an educated guess of around 430 wheel.

    How has the car performance after the JB4 install? I ordered the EWG wires as well. I found one comment on another video that said it’s easy to install those from the bottom after removing the slash guard below the engine. I’ll do that when I install the FMIC. Planning on the Lozic TCU once I get all this complete. I’m just haven’t decided what settings I want yet. Waiting to see if TWN2RBO gets another and posts a video. Seems like -13% is good for folks who have this as a daily driver. My JB4 arrived today and I’m planning to install this week. Actually I have a lot to install this week - FMIC, VT (w/lit kit), aFe, and MBRP. I haven’t been home in over a month and there’s lots of parts sitting in my living room right now. My wife will be happy when they’re gone. I’ve been reading the JB4 tech forums for the past week and watching install videos on UA-cam to get ready for this project. Any experiences with the JB4 so far that you said “I wish I had known x before the install.”? Nice job on wire management. I’m probably going to copy that setup. Thanks for the in-depth install video. Best yet and updated for the current product. Saved it to my UA-cam folder for easy access.

      Thanks Mike! Here to help. It was pretty straight forward. Make sure no wires are tucked behind anything that could move, ensure the rubber seal on the fire wall does not pop out and lastly triple check all hous connections and OBD plug before you start it. It has been performing awesome!! I’ll be posting videos going over map 2, 3 &e30 shortly!

    • @mikem9047
      @mikem9047 Рік тому

      I’m going to install mine today. My only hesitation/concern is the method of getting the OBD wire through the rubber grommet. I saw the TWN2RBO video where he stated water came into the cabin thorough that gap created by putting the wire through the grommet. Do you ever look to see if there’s another way through the firewall? If that’s the only method then that’s what I’ll do.

    • @-kjlifestyle-
      @-kjlifestyle-  Рік тому +1

      4 installs complete one to go. I did the exhaust and JB4 today. Definitely copied up your wiring. Used 1/4 and 3/8 conduit. Contrary to what I read, installing the EWG from the bottom is a real challenge. I was able to install the driver side wire (after more than a few 4 letter words) but the passenger is impossible from the bottom. Tomorrow, I’ll remove the aFe airbox (I just installed yesterday) and turbo intake to reach the passenger EWG plug. Frustrating but the only way I can find to do it.

      I serviced mine recently it got 2 years left on warranties. I only unplugged the OBD-port and put it into map 0. I asked when I came to pick it up about warranties and they said I still have all warranties. They even plugged it back into the OBD-port.
      If you care about your warranty it's probably safer to just remove everything though, you never know what your dealership is like.
