Us guitarist can easily tell the difficulty of a piece simply by looking at the lips' movement of the person playing... we are a different breed of musicians lol

Tosin actually does a 'thump down-up' twice during that intro thump riff. It's a subtle difference but makes it much more difficult to play than the way this is done.

@@tettsuo91 Hm, yea he seems to be doing muted up-thumps actually (not including the longer strikes on the 1 beats). That actually makes the motion easier than what I played though, 😁as it forms a long continuous phrase of 32nd notes. The hats disguise this sound well, which is probably why I missed it before. 😂

Vedi nice, I have no nails so I’m having to attack a bit more with flesh so it sounds different and lacks attack but I wanna get there one day
You can do it! It will feel awkward in the beginning but if you persevere it becomes second nature, and of course a nail helps a lot too. Good luck!

can u get the same sound with cut nails?
Sometimes I clip my thumbnail, sometimes I just file it down a bit. The method seems to have very little impact.

Do you recomend having long thumb nails?
Yes! Although not very much is needed. A longer nail can produce a heavier sound, but a relatively short nail (extending just slightly past the edge of the thumb) works fine too.

Really hard to say... but maybe I spent about 40-50 focused practice hours total getting this up to tempo cleanly? Transcription took a Saturday morning + coffee.
