Love this channel! Its funny how different people can react to the same thing, Meowth being able to talk made me love it as a kid and he's been one of my favorites ever since. Perserker was my favorite Gen 8 Pokemon too.
I honestly think Normal types are the "humans" or the monster world, so they can learn more elements unlike the other types that are usually stuck with their elemental and Normal/Fighting. Humans in most RPGs have access to more classes/moves etc. than other races do.
Every time I watch your videos, I realize how clueless I was when I used to play these games. It is so fun to watch and the quality of the videos just keep getting better! Keep it up!
Your patience and enjoyment of the game is much appreciated, Scott! The way you think about things and go about your playthroughs and analyses feels good!
I’ve commented this before, but I want to say that your challenge play throughs are by far my favorite! Usually I get bored after watching a few mins but I always watch your all the way through. It’s been so fun seeing your channel grow!
Man your videos are just getting better and better! I discovered your channel a few days back and I've honestly been binging all your content. As you've mentioned in one of the videos, I put it as "background noise" while working, but you're so engaging I really often find myself re-winding to focus on watching :) Also your rhythm, elocution and wording are spot-on. When I write documents while listening to your videos, it actually helps me getting my point across better because I kind of "sync" on your rhythm and it makes my sentences flow more naturally, awesome life hack
That’s a really cool use of the videos. I’m striving to have clear delivery of information and I put a lot of thought into how to do it in a natural way. It’s tough, glad the work I’m doing is being passed on! Also, yes I try to very hard to make these visually engaging! I’m glad that’s working too!
If you get a cat, train it to be an indoor cat. You'll need to provide enrichment with play (toys, cat furniture, etc.), but there are several benefits: 1) They're nicer, as they don't get into fights on the street. This is actually huge: most kid's crappy experiences getting clawed by cats relate to this, as well as (2). 2) They live longer, act less like prey, and become more social. Likely because they have a stable and secure environment. 3) (Most importantly) they don't massacre native bird and small mammal populations. Less of an issue if you're living in a city full of invasive species anyway, but most cats don't do well in roads. Great videos!
Seconding this! Studies have shown that even if you don't see it, cats absolutely decimate local bird and small mammal populations. They kill more than they need to eat. Keeping them indoors also keeps them safer from parasites and illness, makes them less likely to be (accidentally, usually) poisoned from eating poisoned mice and rats, and keeps them safe from any neighbors who have their own ideas about to do with your cats.
Looking forward to this one. I'm curious as to whether we'll see Pay Day getting used. On the one hand, by the time Meowth can learn Pay Day, it will have already had access to a more-damaging move for a while (namely Bite). On the other hand, being able to generate money might open the door to some useful things, such as being able to buy more vitamins than the run would normally allow for. The amount of money generated per use of Pay Day isn't that huge (it's 2x user's Level), but if Pay Day can remain on the move set for long enough, that could add up.
These videos keep improving, better and better every time. The production values increase, the skill of play increases, and it really seems like you're not getting bored with them. So proud of you.
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon you talk about improvements but I consider Sabrina in yellow a massive nerf actually She had a much better moveset in red n blue and in yellow she's free setup while in red or blue you can't cheese her In addition ERIKA is terrible in yellow while she's a rival five difficulty in red n blue
Ah an optimization of a previous run!!!! How exciting!! It's a great way to measure your own growth and how much better you've gotten and the ways you've refined your own methods. Great!
There’s a run coming very soon that will showcase the growth way better than this imo. It’s so fun revisiting Pokémon and seeing how much a year of practice can really change
Wow Scott Meowth is such a great Pokémon! Despites not having great defenses, it has great speed and consequently great critical hit ratio! That made the run much easier no doubt! Meouth did fare well, had some big challenges but was able to overcome them all, really impressive! Honestly, I have to say, Persian would be excellent as well! It's one of my favourites! But Meouth lives up to its speed! Man, great job with meouth! Can't wait to see the next challenge! Really glad to see your channel growing more and more! Thanks so much for all the entertaining!
I know it's the default speedrun pokemon, but I think the Nidos (both king and queen) deserve a playthrough. Also I commented a few months back saying the Exeggcute line definitely needs some love as potentially the best grass type in gen 1. Keep up the good work!
26:35 you need to consider that slash also attacks with meowths superior attack stat, in comparison to ice beam which is special. Still I think rest was the best play here ;-)
Well Scott I have to agree, Meowth is rather strange in the anime but it did pretty good overall considering it's base stats. Another great video, keep it up!!!
I was blind sided by losing my job 2 days ago. It sounds weird to say but your positive personality has been nice, keeping me company while I think of my next move. I'm going to enjoy seeing how Meowth does, thank you for the upload.
Sorry to great about the job loss. Glad my love for Pokémon yellow can bring positivity to you while you think of your next move. More content on Sunday!
Very cool. Meowth is one of my HM mules for gen 1 but is also the pre-evolution to one of my favorites. Am glad it managed to do so well. Looking forward to more, and tell your inner Sean Connery to shut his meowth.
2 videos in a row, when Scott goes to live audio at the Nugget Bridge Rival fight, he’s called it the “Optional Rival Fight”. I’m not the only one who’s noticed this, right?

I like the idea of re-ranking, after all it is your list. Excited for what we might get in the future. I’ve said it a lot but your routing/strategies have really taken pokemon that might have otherwise had poor results and elevated them to very workable. Great video
I’m sort of shocked just how much the times I got a year ago can be improved. Makes me wonder if the times I’m currently getting will see a similar improvement. However, I’d like to think that I’m getting pretty close to as good of results as are possible without doing each run 10+ times
I'm a dog person, but I absolutely love my cat! There is something different about owning a cat yourself versus seeing other people's cats. They are fun to play with, can be super snuggly, and will definitely bring you joy!!
Love the idea that all these runs take place in the same universe/timeline and Brock’s just really tired of Scott. Like he’ll see Scott fighting the light years junior trainer and Brock is like, “ah shit that guy again, what kind of crazy run is he doing this week?”
Is it weird to be proud of a man I´ve never met in person? Because I really have to say: I´m proud of you Scott! You take great care of the channel, you´re passionate about the games and just want to improve on every level. And best thing is it really shows. Love the little details like the Pokemon Art that changes depending on the run. The little beat up Smogon was just the cutest thing
Gen 2 challenge runs are less entertaining in general due to the level curve and the fact that movepools all start at level 5, even though it's also my favorite generation. Whitney and Jasmine are tough, then it's easy til Red. RBY has a lot of possible walls for bad Pokemon and a lot of Pokemon with no good moves for several levels. Crystal Clear runs might be more interesting for Gen 2 although it's necessary to standardize the runs (maybe do it in GSC order?)
Cool finally early enough to catch this up.. Surely gonna be an super fun run. Good luck buddy, this cat is pretty awesome. Looking forward to this one.
I love your videos and the dedication you put into getting all the data. Keep up the awesome content! Also, there is a way to skip the rocket stuff in Crystal, it's called speed choice I believe and people use it to set up randomizers and other stuff. Maybe take a look at that
Its cute watching this two years ago before Scott had a cat - i cant imagine a modern video without the occasional background intrusions. Im glad your fiance won that battle.
You probably don't like being compared to other UA-camrs but your editing, overlay and animations are unluck others. Keep this up you're on to greatness!
"Hey Meowth" "Yeah?" "What's a 60 base power normal move with a 10% chance to cause a flinch that was changed to dark type in gen 2?" "Meowth, that's bite!"
"Hey Meowth" "Yeah?" "What's it called when you're feeling or expressing remorse at the recognition that one has done wrong?" "Meowth, that's contrite!"
"Hey Meowth" "Yeah?" "What is the name of a fossil marine arthropod that occurred abundantly during the Palaeozoic era, with a carapace over the forepart and a segmented hind part divided longitudinally into three lobes?" "Meowth, that's trilobite!"
Super glad you gave Meowth a second shot. I was honestly so bummed that you ripped on him so hard in your original video because I think his design is super cute and, like a lot of early Pokemon, based on Japanese culture! In Meowth's case, he's based on manekineko or the beckoning cat. Which are the cat statues with the one paw raised in a waving gesture; they're supposed to bring good fortune to businesses. Its a super cute take on that design, even if they didn't make meowth the classic calico coloration that's common for a lot of manekinekos. Seeing a regional variant that made Meowth calico would be cool though! Even if it means that most of them would have to suddenly be female. Edit: Also, I agree with your girlfriend that you should get a cat!
Oh no a normal type for brock, other than that stab crit slash should hit really hard and require no set up. Can't wait for the run Meowth has some surprising coverage moves too that might help out
For your point at 25:41 , if the difference in power between slash and a normal ice beam is the difference between killing or not, or 2hko instead of 3hko then i agree, but because it was going to be a 2hko with slash anyway, and cause it always crits, you should have gone for icebeam for the extra crit chance/freeze chance, which would effectively ohko the dragonair. Love your videos
I only ever watch pokemon runs from either here or JRose and I feel like they provide a good contrast to each other in how they're done, I like no saving in between elite 4 members but counting resets and doing multiple runs is a good way to do it as well
We have really different styles. It was fun when Jrose did Dugtrio the same day I did Diglett. That was a great way to compare and contrast our approaches to challenges!
I adore the utter contempt for Gen 1 Trainer Formerly Known as Bruno. Even when I was playing red and blue at the age of ten I realized Bruno was basically a gimme unless is Machamp got lucky.
Scott Thoughts Pokémon Lunch #17: I’ll make a catfish for lunch. Now this would be amazing if the Pokémon was Whiscash for Hoenn. Maybe I’ll throw in some parsnip seasoning cause it sounds like catnip. Let me know what you’re eating during this video, comments are good for the UA-cam algorithm I think Meowth will do deceptively well. Scott you’ve had some difficult past runs so I predict this will be more tame. Love the videos Scott.
Oh trust me... it always happen whenever a couple gets a cat. You'll end up getting attached to the darn thing just as much as your fiancée if not even more. Just make sure you take your time picking one you think you'll both connect with. For my personal anecdote, I ended up forming a bond so strong with the kitteh that even when my ex left me for her coworker, the cat made it clear it liked me a lot more and she ended up letting me keep it once I moved away. Just remember. Cats chose their human, not the other way around.

Honestly I love the quality of Scott’s videos. It’s just phenomenal, he has a great speaking voice and he makes smart game play decisions.
Thanks RC! It’s taken awhile to get here that’s for sure!
It’s amazing how I used to struggle to win with a full team and now we are over here running the game in a matter of hours with some of the worst Pokémon and while not using items. It is so fun to watch and the quality of the videos just keep getting better! Keep it up!
I love your channel dude. I started watching it during quarantine and it's got me through some pretty hard times.
Your patience and enjoyment of the game is much appreciated, Scott! The way you think about things and go about your playthroughs and analyses feels good!
I love these games so much. I’m so grateful to be able to share that with everyone here. So thank you for watching!
I’ve commented this before, but I want to say that your challenge play throughs are by far my favorite! Usually I get bored after watching a few mins but I always watch your all the way through. It’s been so fun seeing your channel grow!
Thanks AJ P, I’m looking forward to the next stage of growth. Got a lot polishing planned!
Man your videos are just getting better and better!
I discovered your channel a few days back and I've honestly been binging all your content. As you've mentioned in one of the videos, I put it as "background noise" while working, but you're so engaging I really often find myself re-winding to focus on watching :)
Also your rhythm, elocution and wording are spot-on.
Been here since 2k subs! Really enjoying the content! You put so much work into a game I’ve played and loved since I was a kid!
Another excellent video! The power of that stab slash really surprised me, way to go Meowth!
If you get a cat, train it to be an indoor cat. You'll need to provide enrichment with play (toys, cat furniture, etc.), but there are several benefits:
1) They're nicer, as they don't get into fights on the street.
Mm doesn't seem enough to push towards substitute, it's really not much money. But it did play a small role for proteins!
You literally gained 200 subs between me clicking on your Abra run earlier today to this video now! Congrats on the channel growth!
Thanks! There has been a lot of growth lately!
These videos keep improving, better and better every time. The production values increase, the skill of play increases, and it really seems like you're not getting bored with them. So proud of you.
They are getting more interesting as I get better
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon you talk about improvements but I consider Sabrina in yellow a massive nerf actually
She had a much better moveset in red n blue and in yellow she's free setup while in red or blue you can't cheese her
In addition ERIKA is terrible in yellow while she's a rival five difficulty in red n blue
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon koga and Blaine n Giovanni are massive upgrades I will admit in yellow
Love this videos. Thank you for ur dedication and can't wait for more. Also Meoth got C rank and cat starts with C lol
The dig meme killed me lmao. Didn’t expect to see a litter box haha. Nice run overall
I think meow is staring into my soul. Nice video and the Luna cat was so cute
You’re welcome Anderson! I was so surprised that meowth did this well. An outstanding performance for a first stage Pokémon.
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon yeah I definitely agree! But since I saw this video's theme I knew it would be a good one!
I know it's the default speedrun pokemon, but I think the Nidos (both king and queen) deserve a playthrough. Also I commented a few months back saying the Exeggcute line definitely needs some love as potentially the best grass type in gen 1. Keep up the good work!
The nidos do need some attention!
26:35 you need to consider that slash also attacks with meowths superior attack stat, in comparison to ice beam which is special. Still I think rest was the best play here ;-)
Strictly, you compare the attacking defence stat ratios, but Dragonair has 65 and 70, so again, slash is slightly better
@@tsawy6 true, didnt think about that as well, thx
Well Scott I have to agree, Meowth is rather strange in the anime but it did pretty good overall considering it's base stats. Another great video, keep it up!!!
keep it up Scott! remember watching back when you only got 2k views. you are crushing it
I remember when I got 25 views per video. Then the first video to hit 100 views blew my mind! Haha. Good to have you here for the journey!
Lucky Cat! ☺️ One of my favourite Gen 1 sprites of all time. Meowth is so cute.
I work night shift and I love waking up to a new video! Keep up the good work!
I will
Love the fact that you gave Bruno some happy overworld music instead of an actual battle theme.
The Meowth line is one of my favorites! I swear, base Kantonian Meowth and Persian get so slept on
Very cool. Meowth is one of my HM mules for gen 1 but is also the pre-evolution to one of my favorites. Am glad it managed to do so well. Looking forward to more, and tell your inner Sean Connery to shut his meowth.
Always a treat, and always great work in these vids! Here's to 40k!
I REALLY like how you have the stats in the bottom left. Super cool addition to the video
2 videos in a row, when Scott goes to live audio at the Nugget Bridge Rival fight, he’s called it the “Optional Rival Fight”. I’m not the only one who’s noticed this, right?
I guess if you can beat Misty and then trade for a pokemon with cut, then you can skip this rival fight making it optional?
More likely just a slip of the tongue
@@maximillionpegasus5160 probably a slip of the tongue, but I was just giving Scott a hard time more than anything. I’m a huge fan of his content so I’m definitely not bashing him. Plus, as MDB says, comments are good for the UA-cam algorithm 😂
I remember hearing cool things about Meowth’s voice actor. Also, I love Galarian Meowth, it’s one of my favorite Gen 8 Pokémon! I hope we keep getting new Meowths!
I just recently found your channel and I dont really play pokemon much anymore, but I still like pokemon so your videos are fantastic. I like your style of content very relaxing you're doing a great job.
Thanks Ashton, glad you're enjoying the videos!
It was fun to see all 3 team Rocket’s pokemon so close after one another! Great videos all of them
I planned it as a series :)
After two days the next Video, wow thats amazing Scott!! I really love you videos
Scott, you really have gotten popular the past few months. I'm happy to see you've grown a lot!
Yeah. The last couple weeks have been wild!
Scott: "I'm gonna need to solve the Brock problem."
Me: "Ah yes, the Broblem."
... why am I like this
Lol Broblem. Amazing
Solid rerun! Seems like a sure fire strategy is to name each opponent couch. Even a full team of six couches can’t stand up to crit slashes.
10k views in 5 hours! That's good numbers Scott. Keep it up man you are built for success!!!!
Yeah, this last week things have been on fire.
Every time I see he uploads a video my day is instantly better
This comment made my night better (can’t sleep, might as well play some Pokémon yellow haha)
I'm a dog person, but I absolutely love my cat! There is something different about owning a cat yourself versus seeing other people's cats. They are fun to play with, can be super snuggly, and will definitely bring you joy!!
Thanks for being a man and picking the Dome Fossil.
Omg the expression that you made for meowth are so cute!
Love the idea that all these runs take place in the same universe/timeline and Brock’s just really tired of Scott. Like he’ll see Scott fighting the light years junior trainer and Brock is like, “ah shit that guy again, what kind of crazy run is he doing this week?”
Omg I love that idea too. Thanks for sharing it.
Great video! Loving that your channel is growing!
@@AlexS_983 I know, I know. My heart just wants to tell me otherwise ;) I like the Crystal Clear run idea. Would love to see it
Gen 2 runs are returning very soon. Been a software limitation holding me back.
“My fiance wants to get a cat, but I’m a hard sell.”
A couple of years later: “Churro is the best cat”
Cool finally early enough to catch this up.. Surely gonna be an super fun run. Good luck buddy, this cat is pretty awesome. Looking forward to this one.
I had to do a double take: we also have a neighborhood cat named Luna who likes to wander around! Great video 😁
My mother has the same. It's interesting.
I love your videos and the dedication you put into getting all the data. Keep up the awesome content!
Also, there is a way to skip the rocket stuff in Crystal, it's called speed choice I believe and people use it to set up randomizers and other stuff. Maybe take a look at that
Fianceee oooo congratulations! And yet again another fantastic video
Thank you so much for another entertaining run. :) I love watching your videos!
Its cute watching this two years ago before Scott had a cat - i cant imagine a modern video without the occasional background intrusions. Im glad your fiance won that battle.
What happened to the Hypno vs Poliwrath video??? I was looking forward to watching it tonight :(
You probably don't like being compared to other UA-camrs but your editing, overlay and animations are unluck others. Keep this up you're on to greatness!
Well, I do like compliments on the things I work hard on! Thanks so much :)
Nice teeth against Brock, Meowth 😅
This editing is so slick!
Get a cat, Scott, you'll enjoy it
thanks for another great vid, overlay is always my fav
Good speed, good STABS, useful coverage. Meowth might run into some hurdles but it definitely has the tools to beat the game with reasonable ease.
"Hey Meowth"
"Yeah?"
"What's the opposite of left?"
"Meowth, that's right!"
"Hey Meowth"
"Yeah?"
"What do you call something that isn't heavy?"
"Meowth, that's light!"
"Hey Meowth"
"Yeah?"
"What word do you use when something isn't loose enough?"
"Meowth, that's tight!"
"Hey Meowth"
"Yeah?"
"What's a 60 base power normal move with a 10% chance to cause a flinch that was changed to dark type in gen 2?"
"Meowth, that's bite!"
"Hey Meowth"
"Yeah?"
"What's it called when you're feeling or expressing remorse at the recognition that one has done wrong?"
"Meowth, that's contrite!"
"Hey Meowth"
"Yeah?"
"What is the name of a fossil marine arthropod that occurred abundantly during the Palaeozoic era, with a carapace over the forepart and a segmented hind part divided longitudinally into three lobes?"
"Meowth, that's trilobite!"
I love it when you cut to live audio, adds a pinky out feel to the video
People said hyping up the battle sometimes felt fake, so I figured I out just show exactly what happens in the moment instead!
The attention to details such as the math part is amazing. I love your videos and your editing is great but do be careful with burnout man
Super glad you gave Meowth a second shot.
"By the way, that's how it works in real life." That hits hard. XD
I think slash rolls and Ohko sometimes, but ice beam does not without crit. I’d have to test it again to be sure though
Ah yes the Brooklyn accent cat who chucks coins at you. Iconic choice good sir. And as an owner of 2 cats I hope this funny cat helps the decision!
I only ever watch pokemon runs from either here or JRose and I feel like they provide a good contrast to each other in how they're done, I like no saving in between elite 4 members but counting resets and doing multiple runs is a good way to do it as well
I like watching JRose, but I prefer watching Scott and MDB.
We have really different styles. It was fun when Jrose did Dugtrio the same day I did Diglett. That was a great way to compare and contrast our approaches to challenges!
Scott.... Get. The. Cat.
I was also a super hard sell but I'm glad my wife convinced me. Didn't know my heart could grow like it did.
I adore the utter contempt for Gen 1 Trainer Formerly Known as Bruno. Even when I was playing red and blue at the age of ten I realized Bruno was basically a gimme unless is Machamp got lucky.
"... and I finally don't use the heal ber because honestly, even if it existed..."
Scott Thoughts Pokémon Lunch #17: I’ll make a catfish for lunch. Now this would be amazing if the Pokémon was Whiscash for Hoenn. Maybe I’ll throw in some parsnip seasoning cause it sounds like catnip. Let me know what you’re eating during this video, comments are good for the UA-cam algorithm
I think Meowth will do deceptively well. Scott you’ve had some difficult past runs so I predict this will be more tame. Love the videos Scott.
Catnip is a member of the mint family, which includes classic food spices such as marjoram, oregano, thyme, and basil.
You gave it eyebrows!!! Meowth got angry when it fainted!!!
Yeah Meowth was one of my favorites even in gen 1. Back wen red and blue came out it didn't matter how hot garbage a pokemon was, for my team
So happy you do Gen 1 vids
I missed the little joke at the end of the title. Feels nice.
Meowth is armed to the teeth. Let’s goooo
