Davko Bakowski, thanks for clarifying. Iβm such a fool not to recognise the distinction. When I have Β£5 and need food to get me to next week, Iβll put down the butter at the supermarket and keep it in my pocket. Maybe Iβll save up the money and pay someone to feng-shui up my living room.

Correct. Only Dave started the day brewing coffee. I'm a minimalist and I'd go with instant coffee any day
We were all thinking the same thing
Honestly, the "decluttering is a chore.. who wants to do a chore? Oh wait, you do" is soooo relevant. I'm also a minimalist/organizer and a while back my husband was answering a question about what I like to do and he said "you like to organize" and my immediate reaction was "no, it's a necessity!" but I kept thinking about it and... I realized... I *do* like to organize O_O
It's such a refreshing feeling to reset your space or optimize your routine (which has inevitably shifted or changed in some way over the course of a few months)!
About 6 months ago I went through my closet to get rid of stuff. I gave myself 20 minutes to do it so that I wouldn't overthink each item. If it was stained or too small or I just hadn't worn it in the last 3 months, it got pulled out. I gave myself about 15 minutes to do my dresser drawers. When it was all piled in my floor I didn't fold it and neatly bag it. I stuffed it in bags and put them in the front seat of my car (which would force me to donate them to a woman's shelter or else my kids wouldn't fit in the car lol). I knew if I sat and folded them, some of them would have ended up back in my closet. I HAD to set these parameters because I def get overwhelmed with the task of decluttering.
Minimalism has really fascinated me the last 7 or so years.
Good job! Taking notes
Time limits are great cause they actually make us do things. I've given myself a year to read all of my "newer" books I've gotten and watch all of my movies and shows so I actually consume them and not just leave them on a shelf for another decade... If there's stuff I don't get to in that time it's either getting donated or sold. No buts about it.
I never thought about putting a time limit on it. I spend hours debating whether i should keep something or not. This has helped so much thank you !!
No one wants your stained items, unless maybe they are being given away for free by the organization they're being donated to.
@@suewarren4486 Of course I didn't give them the stained items. Of course those went into the trash.
Am i the only one who actually wanted them to show us the actual days going by as she enjoys or dislikes this lifestyle, not just the decluttering process?

I find it so interesting how a minimalist and a nonminimalsit can live together seemingly harmoniously. I love it! I assumed that Matt as a minimalist would be super agitated by Nats things around him at all times. Do you just kind of block them out since they are not yours?
nat doesnt use that much stuff compared to other people + she has her own areas so it doesn't affect matt at all

Well, they probably already did. Before they became minimalists.
You're fucking everywhere.
Yeah I was a huge materialist before I wanted to become a minimalist. I haven't met my goal as a minimalist yet but I'm working on it. My goal isn't to have the least amount of items possible in total, but to get rid of the unwanted and cluttering items, and appreciate the items that serves a purpose.
Ugh no π€’ why? We see that in a everyone every day
Holmes245 About 20 years ago, our next door neighbours were this married couple and their teenage son. The wife was always dressed immaculately. One day my four year old daughter locked me out of the house so I ran next door to use their phone quickly. When I walked in...it was like an episode of hoarders. Only enough room to walk a tiny path to each room and the phone was sitting on stacks of stuff piled up. I was stunned. She used to walk out the door looking gorgeous every day yet the inside of the house looked like a dump. I felt so sad for their little family. π₯Ί

People often think that minimalism is just about having less stuf. It's really about keeping only what you need and use.

I loved this approach! Self reflection and learning are the best takeaways in any experiment.
I absolutely loved this. Your wife is fun and I enjoyed her chipper personality and seeing how patient you are with each otherβs different views.
Natalie is so refreshing! Although minimalism and self development is important and improves the quality of many who practice it, sometimes people get addicted to looking for something sub par in themselves. I love how Natalie is so unapologetically confident in her characteristics and it's refreshing to see an example of someone who is happy with themselves. Thanks for brightening up my day, you guys are awesome!
Sarah Erickson, I felt the exact same way! So many UA-cam minimalists come off βholier than thouβ because they make it seem so effortless. I loved this video,I've tried to declutter for years,I'm tied of being made to feel Im a hoarder because I can't live out of a backpack full of stuff.Yes Im starting my journey but I'm doing what works for me.
I think Natalie is already a minimalist because she only has stuff that she finds joy in π Minimalism isnβt about having the least things possible, itβs about only having stuff that βsparks joyβ βΊοΈ
Essentialist
Dancing Swords it actually is minimalism is about only owning items that spark joy and happiness.
Esencialismo... no es lo mismo que minimalismo.
I think thatβs more of the konmari method of downsizing.
@Nessi Drky Hoarders don't find joy in their things. They're afraid of letting them go. That's the difference. You can own any number of items and still be a minimalist. It's about taking the time to go through your things and choosing what to keep or toss. Hoarders struggle with going through their items and struggle even more with letting items go.

This was definitely fun to watch! I tried minimalism too and I relate to Natalie. I love my stuff! I enjoy life more with it. I got bored with only a few make-up items and outfits.
