Even after hearing this song THOUSANDS of times, to the point of being seriously burned out on it, I still get chills when that solo kicks off.
I'm 45 and in the early to mid eighties, every radio station on the dial seem to play Stairway to Heaven once an hour on the hour. It honestly took until about 2010-2015 or I could listen to this and actually truly enjoy it again.
@@RobwLPOC 52 here and same. I haven't enjoyed this song since sometime in the mid-eighties. This is literally the first time I've intentionally listened to it in decades.
Just as 30 years after my bachelor party I found I could enjoy tequila again, I can finally enjoy this awesome song again. I guess getting old has a few good things about it.
Grew up in the 70's...For a long time, I had that "Oh, o.k., 'Stairway to Heaven' again" reaction when it came on the radio, but I always started getting into it when the drums start...
💯
This guitar solo was the first solo I ever thought was beautiful instead of just intense. It isn’t random notes strung together that just happen to be in one key, it is a work of art.
You just heard one of the most epic songs ever, it's like loosing your rock virginity! Once you've experienced it you can't go back.
thats exactly what hapenned to me pal... this was the song that paved the way for me to explore the rock/metal world
@@inJesusname1992 Well I guess you found the perfect song to spark that interest.
I did. My boyfriend was a Zeppelin freak. Saw them 5 times. Paige killed the guitar solo for 15 minutes. Orgasms.
It was this song and Bohemian Rhapsody immediately after that sent me down the rock/metal rabbit hole. Don’t know which is my favorite of the two, but both are about as close to perfection as a rock song can get.
@@_CRUMP_ Yeah often it's hard to choose between 2 excellent choices and say which is better but having them both is a good thing.
This song was the most requested song of the 20th century.
Sure was and I am 62 yo my fave Band!
Was #2 Freebird? :)
Radio stations overplayed this song so much in the 80s it took till almost 2015 when I could actually enjoy it again
@@RobwLPOC I didn't actually listen to a ton of radio in the 80s as a kid... mostly I got into bands due to MTV at the time. Van Halen and ZZ Top were first fave bands. ;D but yeah, I get that.
The first time I even heard about Stairway was the joke in Wayne's World (about it being overplayed ofc!), I got into it (well, into LZ in general) during HS in the early-mid 90s.
@@gfox9295 a golden era where MTV music television actually played.... MUSIC! To be fair, MTV was guilty at times of overplaying certain videos to the point no one wanted to see them again.
Im 17, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are two of my all time favorite bands, You just listened to one of the greatest musical compositions of all time.....
You, young sir, are scholar and a gentleman.
All time favorite at only 17, I wish I could whisper those words today. Enjoy the journey young man, and teach your kids, we are counting on youth like you.
Kids your age don't even know what they're missing. You're wise beyond your years...
I prefer dire straits to Floyd but I agrees with led zeppelin
There is still hope 🙂
This song has a significant memories for me. In my early 20's (45 now) I was addicted to Herion. Rehab never worked. Guess I wasn't ready or I was just too scared of being without it. Long story short, I ended up incarcerated in prison due to my addiction. I remember getting out to the rec yard and was walking around the track when guards starting playing this over the P.A system. It was an old prison and the sun was going down. Setting was amazing. I sat along the fence like I was the only soul on the planet just thinking about how if I don't get clean in this 3 year bid, I'm gonna be climbing that "Stairway to heaven". Been clean 15 years. Thanks for the reaction video.
dude ... thank you for sharing. God bless you.
I'm someone who has never once used an illegal or recreational drug, but I try to see the human side of this and I appreciate hearing stories like yours so I can better understand what people are going through. I know this is way off topic, but this is why I am so against that the president of the Philippines had done to "solve" their drug problem. They literally send out armed killers with names and addresses who went out into the night and murdered THOUSANDS of drug users, most of whom I believe weren't bad people, but got into an addiction. Murdering them was highly unjust. Go after the suppliers and help the users.
What a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing! Love and brings to you! 💕
Incredible experience. Bravo for your 15 years and may this motivate you for many more. Music is life
Amazing story keep up the hard work in this real 🌎 🕊❤💫
Look up the video of their Kennedy Center honors and watch Heart cover this in front of Zeppelin. Robert Plant teared up and Jimmy Page was all smiles and jamming to it. It’s truly amazing!
That's the way you listen to LED Zeppelin. No pausing, no interruptions, no constant commentary. The music speaks for itself.
I saw myself listening to this for the first time 52 years ago in your reaction. Absolute perfection.
Great job. Thanks for doing this. I enjoyed it as much as you did. It brought back memories from something long ago and made me so glad that younger people still have an appreciation for something as iconic as Stairway to Heaven.
I appreciate that!
This song is widely considered to be the greatest Classic Rock song ever.
Bohemian Rhapsody also used to make the top of the list back in the day I think. Rhapsody is a masterpiece no doubt, but "More Than a Feeling" and "Tom Sawyer" tie for the number one spot for me personally. I must have heard each of them several hundred times or more since they first came out so many years ago.
It's interesting to note that both Rhapsody and Stairway are composed of multiple segments of increasing tempo and intensity, culminating in a heavy rock crescendo and a then a slow coda at the end.
When the drums kick in at 5:03 or so, it's so satisfying as the song starts to pick up speed.
@@i_kill_for_zardoz yeah when the drums kick in! it's perfect! RIP Bonham
Arguably the greatest song of all time
I_Kill_For_Zardoz - More than a feeling and rush are fantastic songs but for me Stairway to Heaven and Bohemian Rhapsody are on a different tier.
@George Duffy it’s voted greatest #1 all-time in practically every legitimate list. What further explaining do you need?
Jimmy Page said the following about Stairway: "As a studio musician, you are taught to never speed up. I wanted to do a song that broke that rule," Notice how the tempo slowly quickens as more instruments come in down the line.
The solo into that climax in this song.....is epic. One of the most touching tribute in rock history ever is when Ann and Nancy Wilson with Jason Bonham on drums performed this song in front of the remaining members.
It is an amazing build up to an amazing climax, damn straight.
I've probably watched that performance 100 times. It's incredible.
This November = 50 years since Led Zeppelin released the album.
RIP John Bonham
I’m new to your channel. You should definitely check out Heart doing a tribute to Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center Honors… singing this song like it’s never been done before. Brings Robert Plant to tears. Truly one of the best covers of this song. I mean who can even come close to Zep right?!?! … HEART! Would love to see you react to it.
Oh to be young again and hearing this for the 1st time! You lucky dog. There's at least 1 more Zep tune you need to hear... All of My Love
I’m 54.... and amen to your point.
Kashmir is a great Zeppelin song too.
@@waltreed2578 so much beautiful songs from Leds, my favourite probably is Since I've been loving you
ONE tune?
Eh?!
Zep II my all time fave, and the heartbreaker/ramble on/livin lovin maid (she's just a woman) are eargasms for me but their catalogue is deep and wide to put it mildly so stick a pin in and you'll probably be blown away by the one you randomly chose.
@@noncicredomamidispiace Agreed. "Since I've been loving you" is fantastic and a fave of mine on the school bus through the Walkman.
One of the best bands to come out of the UK.
"Stairway "is legendary. The excitemant never gets old. It is a masterpiece. The layers and layers of greatness just holds your attention right there.
I really appreciate the fact that you listened, and took in, the entire song without stopping it. That's, to me, the only way to listen to a piece of music. I'm a musician and I would hate for someone, on their first listen, to interrupt one of my compositions.
This is considered the greatest rock song ever written or in the top two....the greatest band of all time in my opinion!
Just tip of the LED ZEPPELIN MUSIC CATALOGUE... 50 SONGS OF NOT TOP 40 WORTHY BUT ALBUM GREATNESS ..
They are fantastic, but I lean Pink Floyd for pure artistry
@@FirstHumanOfficialChannel2024 that's fine but they are two completely different styles of bands, Pink Floyd are a brilliant thinkers band, they are very deep! Love them as well.
the second part of this song had me making a stank face w/o noticing
Love me some Floyd but Zep just takes me to musical heaven and keeps me there
You have no idea how great it is to watch someone listen to this song for the first time. Thank you!
Listening to this song is simple ... one just experiences it. The song steps up it's own stairway and brings you to heaven along with it.
Well said!
The mighty Led Zeppelin....
50 years on.
Greatest rock song ever written and played.
They guitar solo always rips the soul!!!
Best band ever! Live from Madison Square Garden is absolutely amazing!!
Great reaction! So good. You understood it. Heart Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy center is worth a watch. Listen to this version a couple times. Then do Heart.
ABSOLUTELY.... 👍😄👍
Yaaaaasssss
Finally! I thought every other comment would be that he needs to watch Heart at the Kennedy Center doing this song but I actually had to scroll down a teeny bit! Plus one for watching that version!!!
One of the best songs ever made! It’s my mums favourite song and I’ve heard it a million times but it never ever gets old.
Completely timeless.
"Stairway To Heaven" is more than THE antheme of the whole rock history, it's THE revelation at all. Now you have given them your soul and they will never give it you back.
You've done it, you've listened to the masterpiece 👍🏼👍🏼 Now, check out the tribute that the band Heart did to the three surviving members of Led Zep with an epic cover of this song. There are few versions on UA-cam, including an official one from Kennedy Centre Honours channel. The Obamas were in the audience and the son of the late John Bonham surprised the band buy playing his dad's drums on the song, he had time them he couldn't make the show ❤️. This song is amazing and Heart did it justice in what just have been a crazy night for them.
More suggestions from Led Zeppelin:
1. Kashmir
2. The Rain Song
3. Since I've been loving you
4. Babe I'm gonna leave you
5. Ramble On
... and obviously 6. Whole Lotta Love
yeah, I just rec'd Whole Lotta Love to another OP... Ramble On is an underrated one, too. Love their Lord of the Rings-inspired lyrics in that (and this!).
The vocals on this track are beyond world class
EPIC, SURREAL, OTHERWORDLY, STUPENDOUS, SPECTACULAR, AMAZING, FABULOUS are just some of the words to describe this song.........!!! Peace
The HEART version at the Kennedy center... The guys are there and John Bonham's son is playing the drums. Excellent
"I don't even have the words to describe this!" Yep! I've watched several reaction videos to this song. The live Led Zeppelin version and Heart at the Lincoln Center do not do it justice. Studio LP remastered is the masterpiece. And thank you for not stopping it so you could go on their full journey. Yours is the best reaction. Great job!!
For people of a certain age, when this song played it meant the school dance was over.
Damn right
Again for people my age (59) those last 3 songs at the school disco were slow songs and were known as “the erection section” 🥴
Lovely reaction, this song is timeless, I was lucky to see Led Zeppelin in the ‘70’s amazing experience
Listen to all their songs, you won't be disappointed! I'm 59 and I've been listening to them since I was a teen and still love them. You have a lot of catching up to do! Try: In My Time of Dying, Since I've Been Loving You, Thank You, and Black Dog to start , then work your way through all of them. I just can't believe how many people are hearing them for the first time. It's fun to watch though.
Hey.. C. do you remember sucking songs from the radio with a cheap mic ?
D.Mont , you mentioned on War- Low Rider that you were impressed with the people that originally came up with music the first time round that is now thought of as iconic and ubiquitous these days.... this is a whole level above that, can you imagine in the practice room back then Mr J.Paige saying “ hey guys listen to this , what do you think of this chord progression? Can we do anything with this ? “... and THERE was born a moment in time .. right there 😳
You should take some time to watch the Lincoln Center Tribute to Led Zeppelin. That version has become my go to Stairway.
Going to california, ramble on and battle of evermore are always worth a listen to, my favourite Led Zeppelin songs! The lyrics are just on another level, soul reaching stuff.
Your favourites are also my favourites along with 10 years gone.
Now you have to do it live at Madison square garden. It's just epic!
I’ve been a life long hard core Zeppelin fan thanks to my dad who, I’m confident, rocked me to sleep listening to them on his vinyl albums in the 70s🤘🏼🎸 🎶 because of that, I have no memory of hearing any of their songs for the first time! They have always been there - I love watching people experience their magic 🪄🤘🏼🎶🎸 for the first time! Great reaction
This right here is my favorite reaction to Stairway!! I was 14 in the mid 70’s when I fell down the Led Zeppelin rabbit hole and I never left wonderland. Rock Gods, all 4 of them.
A good follow up, after you've listened to this version about 10 more times, is to react to Heart's version at the Kennedy Center honoring Led Zeppelin.
Thanks for the Led Zeppelin ❤
This song and Imagine by John Lennon imo are two of the greatest songs written.
Agreed. While Imagine isn't necessarily one of my top 20 songs, I believe it's possibly the most important song ever written.
i’m so glad i was only 14 when i discovered this amazing music, led zeppelin and pink floyd are my favourite bands.
Just for fun - when you have a chance - tune into Heart performing Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honors. Easy to find. The remaining members of Led Zeppelin are in the balcony with their "Presidential Honors" medals around their necks, watching their song performed and the drumming being provided by the son of their late drummer, John Bonham. It's damned moving, bro.
Bro if you want an experience you should listen to echoes(live at Pompei) by Pink Floyd
YES!! Especially loved when they did Comfortably Numb!amazing show for sure!
@@77Mowers
I think he means the 1972? concert. When they were young.
Pink Floyd in Pompeye is like music from another dimension. Is a real trip. No need any drugs to fly that high
This was traditionally the last song of the night at school dances...back in the day....slow dance, baby...
When Page's guitar solo kicked in, I think I actually saw his spirit leaving his body!
It's been number one on some of the top 100 best rock song lists. Number one in mine too. Zeppelin is the number one hard rock group of all time in my opinion. But my favorite group is YES. Number one progressive rock group in my opinion.
BEST REACTION EVER! Thanks for loving our music!
One of the most requested songs in rock history
Dude ... watching your reaction brought tears to my eyes. Loved that!!! Thank you for appreciating this gorgeous song
D. Mont, your reaction is the best I've ever seen. You remind me of how I felt when I first heard this song. BLOWN AWAY
If you thought that was good, wait till you watch the live version from Madison Square garden, 1973.
It will blow you away!! 😲
The intro to this song came from a group called "Spirit". When the toured London Led Zep heard them and asked to use it on this tune. Spirit said they would be honored.
Seeing your reaction takes me back to my first time hearing it too. Awesome, thank you!
Man…I’m sitting here watching you react to this masterpiece from the other side of the world in Australia and I’m so happy that you’re happy. Wow! The power of music
Keep the Led Zeppelin reactions coming!!!!!!!!!!
The mighty Zep has a song for literally ANY mood you find yourself in!
Welcome to 70s Britain 🇬🇧
That was so fun! glad you enjoyed it so much 😊
Im 48 and have loved Zeppelin since the 80s and I naturally have heard this song so many times that I didn't want to listen to it anymore. But these reaction videos have made me listen again and realize just how amazing this song really is. It's truly a masterpiece. Jimmy Page is one of the few real geniuses in rock. That guy can move you like nobody else
It’s hard to believe, but the live version is even better.
No, its not even close.
It is so awesome to watch someone experience Stairway for the first time. 50 yr ago: Tampa Stadium on the field 50 yd line center stage..and I still get chills when I hear this song...and I listen once a week! Enjoy...you will feel what you're feeling now every time to listen!
I'm new 2 ur channel but man people r NOT steering u in the wrong direction brother. The few videos I've seen people have requested the best of the best songs ever written 4 u 2 react 2. I'm just happy as hell there's still plenty of open minded people like yourself Damon that will give different genres of music a chance even if it might not b what they generally get down 2. Props brother. I'm glad ur diggin these tunes as much as I do. Good work my man
The build-up sets the tone and then everything starting from the guitar solo on is what made this one of if not the greatest rock songs ever.
I've heard this song THOUSANDS of times and every time it still give me goosebumps! It's such a powerful song!
Just found you and I love your genuine reactions. It’s refreshing. But fam, you gotta listen to Jimi Hendrix. Voodoo child, Foxey lady, purple haze are all iconic songs of his that are recognizable. But I recommend “Night bird flying” because I think it’s peak Hendrix. It’s a sound that I haven’t heard from anyone else. Free and bold like an eagle.
You see why we loved growing up in the 60's and 70's. These bands and songs just kept showing up one after another. Every time you turned on the radio there was a new song or a friend was telling you about a new album he got from a new band that you had to hear. It was great - as far as music that is.
If you haven’t yet done so.... Eagles song “Hotel California” and Aerosmith song “Dream on.”
Bohemian Rhaapsody too
And Dee Purple - Soldier of Fortune
Have you ever heard the cover of Dream On sang by Ronnie James Dio with Yngwie Malmsteen on guitar?
It is one of the few covers I like way better than the original.
It's nice to see that someone nowadays can appreciate a song without having to have a video attached to it. You're the man. That's just an expression, not a political statement. 😜
Should search the pink floyd before dark side.... echoes, atom heart mother, if, fearless, saurceful of secrets, etc thats good material to react :P
Britain and America teamed up to perfect rock for the world. What a collaboration ! What a wonderful era. So happy that I lived through it.
Such a great song! I’ve heard this one so much that I’ve actually gotten to the point where I skip over it, but watching your reaction to hearing it for the first time brought some sparkle back. Adding two more Zeppelin to your list: In My Time of Dying and Black Country Woman (the first is soooo smooth and satisfying, and I find the second one pretty funny, I just love it)
I love watching people see this for the first time and you had a GREAT reaction! Loved your facial expressions. I've seen people fall out of chair and one dude left the room. lol Yes, this is a masterpiece and one of greatest rock-n-roll songs of all time. My top fave three (and it's so hard to choose) would be "Stairway to Heaven", "Bohemian Rhapsody" (Queen) and "Free Bird" (Lynyrd Skynyrd). Oh, but I love all the songs from Fleetwood Mac's Rumours too lol As I said, hard to choose, but this one is THE masterpiece.
Best BAND EVER!! My regret I never saw them in concert‼️‼️‼️ This was our SLOW DANCE SONG IN HIGH SCHOOL‼️‼️‼️‼️
"I caught myself making a dumb-face..."
EVERYONE does while listening to this song.
I loved your reaction. I grew up with this group. ♥️👏👏👏👍🇦🇺
Probably the best rock song ever written. Zeppelin is a deep dive because they had so much good music. You should watch Heart perform this song as a tribute to Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center. They did the song justice.
This is my #1. Gonna be at my funeral. So it live. Jimmie Paige is masterful. We were high every night listened to this before going home. It just came out. We were hooked for life. Live you💝💝😍😍
6:41 I can't avoid feeling deeply moved till tears listening to that solo.
Something about it just makes me cry in "understanding."
One of the be at guitar grooves ever man. And these guys like Pink Floyd made their millions based on pure talent alone and didn't need Simon facking cowell
four symbols on the label and inside sleeve of Led Zeppelin IV, represent (from left to right) Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, John Bonham and Robert Plant. ... The idea for each member of the band to choose a personal emblem for the cover was Page's.
Physical Graffiti, Led Zeppelin, All of the songs on that album are GREAT, gives me chills, I'm 65 and still rockin with them, it's so much fun to watch you hear songs for the first time, I can still remember, Oh my, what a GREAT band!! Please listen to for the first time for us!💜
At their live gigs Zep had a habit of turning one of their standards in to an extended version. At Knebworth, August 1979, they did this with Stairway, it running to 20 or more minutes. Jimmy Page did a long solo, including a section playing his guitar with a violin bow. He was standing in the middle of a spinning green cone of laser-light, with a reflector on the end of the bow shooting green streaks across the heads of the crowd. Yes, I was there.
no you weren't ... 😉 just jealous

More than a few of us were dumbfounded upon hearing this song for the first time. Count yourself baptized into Zep. And so, so many bands with crazy talent you'll still get to enjoy. Here's an iconic song most will agree on, Do You Feel Like We Do by Peter Frampton from Frampton Comes Alive album. I envy your first time.
saw them live 1974 i think about it alot I love you love them dig up some early songs they did rock at its best
This is why we just bounce around banging our heads up and down as you don't dance to it you feel it and well you did the same thing.

Fantastic to see the enjoyment new generations, especially those with no background in such genres, get from incredible music like this. Just know, most of the best rock bands in the world are English...and Led Zeppelin are at the top of that tree!
