As others have mentioned, bassist John Paul Jones is playing the keys and using the foot pedals for the bass parts. On the studio cut, John Paul Jones played an actual recorder. You REALLY need to react to more Led Zeppelin.
On the studio cut, JPJ played *several* recorders--which is why he used the Mellotron (he called it "the Dream Machine") in concert. This is the soundtrack of my teens, I still listen to new music but I find I'm never surprised by music anymore , the songs always end up just the way they start, with songs like this they start one way and take you on a journey to God knows where and that was exciting.
Led Zep had that perfect blend of blues and old English folk music. They were very influenced by The Lord of the Rings books, too. I was blessed to see them live in San Francisco in 1969. You must now react to the Wilson sisters of Heart covering this at the Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Led Zep with the Obama’s and Led Zep sitting together in the audience! You are very musically sensitive- keep exploring!
Ann and Nancy Wilson did this song for Led Zeppelin when they were honored at the Kennenedy Center for Arts. TheY had a huge production that was AMAZING. Their drummer had passed but his son played and they all wore the drummers signature hat. It's worth seeing Dude
Back in the '70s when I was a teenager, this was my favorite song for dancing. Mostly because it is such a long slow dance, lol, but it has a great high-energy finish.
I love seeing these videos. This is a sharing of the last and cultures. It creates an understanding for all. Music is soul. Motown was an awakening. This was a great time in life for us. And we were heading to a positive place. Our generation pushed love and peace.
It’s not a flute, it’s a Mellotron. It’s a keyboard instrument. You see John Paul Jones playing it in the video. It’s the same instrument that gives a similar flute like sound in the Beatles’ Strawberry Fields Forever.
Dude, you’re the 1st reactor that I’m aware of that mentioned the “flute.” It’s actually John Paul Jones playing the “recorder” on the keys. JPJ was the quiet genius behind LZ. Loved your reaction, you nailed it!
Great Reaction "KB".... Great to see the younger gen delving into the classics.... Probably one of the greatest live performances ever.... Zep was definitely at their apex... performing their magnum opus ! Jimmy Page's playing was otherworldly at times....! God bless
Omg I was just thinking about you doing a reaction to Led Zeppelin couple days ago! This is awesome that you did! Should check out "Bonzo's Montreux" I think you would like it
Actually the intro is done on the 6 string until he switches to chords. The 12 string gives it that fuller sound. You can tell the difference if you listen...
"I can hear the solo coming; I can smell it!".."And the drums hadn't even dropped yet!" You really listen to every sound in these reactions. Love the reactions. Proud to be a new subscriber. :)
Robert Plant write the lyrics and he’s got one of the best rock voices ever, Jimmy Page is a guitar God. They are all masters of their art. Page wrote the music. This was voted the best rock song of all time. John Bonham does a a 3/4 and comes back to a 4/4 which makes it sounds like it’s a different beat.
I "started" to watch this movie in Palm Springs, CA back in 1980. I was so tired from being awake for way too long that I fell asleep in the theater. I know, unbelievable right.
Jimmy Page definitely one of the best guitarists of his generation. Robert Plant has a very unique voice. When he came on the radio, you knew EXACTLY what band was playing. What sounds like a flute is actually a recorder (I thought it was a flute, too). The beauty of the 60s, 70s, & 80s was that every band had their own sound, so you could always tell who was playing. I love watching the younger generations listening to and REALLY getting in to the music I grew up on. Love your reaction.
Oh man yes! I had always wanted to request this during your live streams but it's too long, and there was no way you can only listen to five minutes of this masterpiece. I feel like I may be quite spoiled if you're really doing old school week lol! Much love y'all!
It is SO gratifying to see another generation still enjoying music that is just defying time. We had some classic bands “back in the day”, lol, I’m 56 and music back then was so lyrical. There was meaning behind all songs and it was all genuinely sung, no auto tune, you knew when you went to the concert you were going to hear the song that sounds just like it did on the radio. well done for opening your ears to a “new” genre for you, keep exploring, there is so much talent in the 70-early 90’s. @@zosomoso oops that's right, I didn't see the time there to reference the proper song, my bad. Yes Moby Dick is a masterful performance
They were and are the greatest band ever!
The most iconic legendary band. Legendary iconic 🎸 solo.
Thank you!
Appreciate your reactions! This song was, is, and always has been an entire concert in itself.
RIP to John B too he went out ruff 💔
🙏🏽
@@KINGBLITZ you want to see the best craziest assault on a guitar...watch Dazed And Confused from this concert 1973 Madison Square Garden...Jimmy murders that guitar! You will LOVE IT!
RIP Bonzo🙏🏾🙏🏾
Great reaction, welcome to the greatest rock band Led Zeppelin ..Plant and Page, singer and guitarist extraordinaire....
One of the most incredible rock songs ever written. I count myself lucky to be born in 1960 and in high school when this music was being written!
I really love how Robert Plant, as the lead singer, starts playing the tambourine to give credit and attention to the guitar solo. Great team player.
That solo makes the hairs on your neck stand up . Absolute mastery
I think this is still my favorite song ever and it has to be close to 50 years old! There's a treasure trove of music from them, try: Dazed and Confuzed, The Immigrant Song, In My Time of Dying, Trampled Under Foot, The Rain Song, Thank You and Black Dog for starters. All their songs are fire!
It's not 'does anybody remember last year', it's 'does anybody remember laughter'
Roberts voice is now and has been for years and years absolutely mystifyingly tempting and beautiful.
just 4 guys creating a sonic wonderland
this is a perfect example of why you should do Zeppelin live! You don't get these Page solos on the recordings. LOVE!
🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
Since I've been loving you from this same concert is amazing!!! The guitar solos are even better
Thank youuuu
This is one of the best guitar solos ever played on guitar! Nobody can copy it the way he plays it! (Specially this live version is the best)
This shit right here.... This is Real Music!
This was the 70's, no music video, this was recorded at Madison Square Garden in the summer of 1973 and released in the film "The Song Remains the Same" in 1976. "Does anyone remember laughter?"
I love the blank stare at 12:02 during Jimmy Page's solo. Disbelief. Shock. Awe. Jimmy Page inspired lots of shock and awe. That's why he is a rock God.
✊🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥
Best song ever writen. Stayed on the number one charts forever.
He said does anybody remember laughter 😂🤣😂🤣 Not last year😘 I dig it
Welcome to the world of Rock and Roll, brother!!!
Went to see them during this concert tour. Absolutely awesome
ME AND MY 1ST GIRLFRIEND ULOVED WHEN ZEP CAME ON THE SCENE. REMEMBER WHEN YOU WALK BY US GUTS IN OUR LATE 60'S AND EARLY 70'S THIS IS HOW WE ROCKED.
I’m new, curious to see what “ old school “ songs you chose.....meanwhile this masterpiece will take you places......let it.....trust me. 🎼🎶🎹🎸🎤🤘😎🔥🔥🔥🔥 there are no bad LED Zeppelin songs, facts. John Paul Jones on keyboards, plays bass with foot pedals when he’s on keys.
4 talented geniuses = Led Zeppelin. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is the soundtrack of my teens, I still listen to new music but I find I'm never surprised by music anymore , the songs always end up just the way they start, with songs like this they start one way and take you on a journey to God knows where and that was exciting.
Best way I can describe this song, it should have been in the "lord of the rings" movies
🔥🔥🔥🙏🏽
Well Robert was a huge fan of lord of rings
Listen to dazed and confused. Zeppelin is great . Glad your on board with old school week lol thats me !!! Thank god !
Thank youuuu!!
There's something missing in your life if Zeppelin is missing from your life bro. MORE Zeppelin!!!
There is a reason this song is 50 years old and most guitar players still strive to be able to play it well.
“I can only imagine what the guitar solo is gonna be like” Me: Yeah you just wait :)
It’s not a flute, it’s a Mellotron. It’s a keyboard instrument. You see John Paul Jones playing it in the video. It’s the same instrument that gives a similar flute like sound in the Beatles’ Strawberry Fields Forever.
Hadn't heard that live version, but pretty great! I'd also recommend the studio version (and the rest of the album).
Thank You for enjoying these Wonderful Britain bands.I am new to your channel and I Love it❤
Check out "Do You Feel Like We Do" by Peter Frampton! Great reaction to the Rock Gods !
Thank you
Dude, you’re the 1st reactor that I’m aware of that mentioned the “flute.” It’s actually John Paul Jones playing the “recorder” on the keys.
God bless
Thank youuuu
You just witnessed greatness. Best live performance of all time IMO.
Omg I was just thinking about you doing a reaction to Led Zeppelin couple days ago! This is awesome that you did! Should check out "Bonzo's Montreux" I think you would like it
Thank youuuu
You know what I love about radio, you listen to the music . No predjedice , no politics , just true beauty .
The guitar solo is done on the lower neck (6 string), the rest of the song is on the upper neck (12 string)
Got it
Actually the intro is done on the 6 string until he switches to chords.
True they did not steal this from anyone.
One of the best songs ever written. Still number one until this day. Never got a chance to check them out. He really does get down on that solo.
Jimmy page is playing a 12 string & a 6 string combined.
Got it
I "started" to watch this movie in Palm Springs, CA back in 1980. I was so tired from being awake for way too long that I fell asleep in the theater. I know, unbelievable right.
Eddie Van Halen is my favorite guitarist but this solo is just so friggin good..This is live at Madison Square Garden
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It is SO gratifying to see another generation still enjoying music that is just defying time. We had some classic bands “back in the day”, lol, I’m 56 and music back then was so lyrical. There was meaning behind all songs and it was all genuinely sung, no auto tune, you knew when you went to the concert you were going to hear the song that sounds just like it did on the radio. well done for opening your ears to a “new” genre for you, keep exploring, there is so much talent in the 70-early 90’s. I’m happy to see you enjoying this!
BEST Rock band EVER!!! 👍🏽❤
🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
This song was always the last one played at High School dances. Hearts were raised and broken over this song. One of the most solid Rock Ballads ever.
They sound as good live as they did in studio because it's all them
I have heard many times BUNS AND HOSES SOUNDS SHITY LIVE , AND THERE THE BIGGEST COVER BAND EVER
