I know I'm pretty late to the party, but I'm trying to move away from Adobe (if anything for the money) and learning GIMP and Quixel, so while there arent many tutorials, I appreciate the ones here!
wooo really awesome. I'm just getting started with mixer and I've been experimenting a bit with rocks, tiles and bumpy materials in general combining them. Didn't really know what solid layers could be useful for, well, now I do! Thanks for everything, and keep going!
To anyone else who almost had a stroke trying to figure out how to 'append' a layer... it's not called 'appending' it's called layer clipping. .-. Why it wasn't refered to such in the video, we'll never know. Alt + Click on a layer.
7:00 into the tutorial...so informative and straight to the point on sculpting and getting the stylize mesh ready in zbrush....So great so far...like starting at the base color in mixer now...background music is awesome!!! ✨
I think would be awesome to have something like this built from scratch. Not every project is hyper realistic. Would have loved to see how the sky was approached, grass and many others. Would be cool if you guys could do it with this similar to the others you put out
I was hoping for such a video for a long time :). Is it possible to get an extended breakdown like 2 hours long? I would love to see how the foliage system works, especially trees. Amazing work neverthless.
It was exactly this style of texture that I wanted a tutorial and still in Mixer, I have been looking for a long time. It seems to read my mind, thank you very much, but if you can make a more elongated tutorial, style those of 1 hour, ty.
What an great tutorial. I'd love to see more Mixer tutorials, and Mixer + Blender setups. Texturing custom assets, both organic and hard surface would be interesting to see. What did the artist here use for baking and UV-ing, Zbrush? Also, do you need UVs for the procedural texturing, or only if you are painting on the asset?
Great tutorial. This may be less specifically about Mixer and Megascans but I would love to see a breakdown of how the whole scene was put together. Just sayin' :)
When I go to add the scattered tile map component (11:21) there are no files shown in my local library tab when the type dropdown is set to 'Atlas' - am I missing something?
this would have been great to follow along, perhaps project files would be a great addition. Its nice to learn by doing or have an opportunity to explore as we are working through a tutorial or small project
MY KINGDOM for a part 2 (or 3, 4, and 5)!! How did you rework the megascans grass assets, the trees, and your environment set up? We need to know! Please let this become a multi-part series. Please please please.
Do I need to be connected to internet to use quixel I know that I've to connected to internet to use megascan library but what if I don't want to use megascan library?
You need to make a video on how you export things from Zbrush to work in Quixel Mixer because I am hella lost. There's no option for me to add occlusion, for example. Like, the option in the Quixel Mixel app is not there.
Hey, I used S. painter anf now that mixer is free and well integrated with ue4 I wonder if I should jump to it. Can you tell me which are the main features I'd miss from painter or what are the extras mixer has? I know I can't bake high poly to low poly in mixer. What about: having triplane projection, paint in uv space, paint by geometry/uv island, having good mask generators? A feature i liked in SP is that I can make height/normal details with painting/stamps and use that details directly in generators without rebaking the normals? does it work here? Anything else? Thx.
does anyone know where i could find assets that look like this for ue5? such as foliage rocks land textures and so on? alot like how you can just download the mega scans and drop them in?
You can get the Zbrush orb brush pack for Blender, which has an extreme polish and trim border brush to achieve a similar effect :) You should be able to find on Google or UA-cam. Grant Abbitt has a tutorial "Make game assets - Sculpting stones" where he uses them.
I think it best to call the ''Mask Stack" Modifiers, That's would really help us familiarise with this term . Most of us nowadays are using Blender and I think is better to make the terms in Mixer to march that of blender. That would lower a lot the entry barrier for Mixer.
I want a separate tutorial for the foliage haha. That grass and the cute little shimmery wind shader is just so prett.
Second that! edit: trees look like simple cards tho?
@@StrayVertex I'm pretty certain they are- since they're not moving at all xD
That's not going to be Quixel tutorial though, but UE4. And there are tons of tutorials on grass on it.
Collateraldebris that’s called ‘billboarding’ if I understand you correctly
make it happen
Oh wow the quality of these scene is outstanding!
Guys, this is awesome. Thanks so much for sharing this.
You were probably waiting for this
Really glad you like it!
How are you not verified and why dont you have more subs!?😆
@@tjseries3057 Pretty much. A ton of great tips I'm going to use in future videos.
@@teddybergsman5358 You go Glen Coco!
i was about to start a Stylized Environment with megascans ... lucky day
Can I make Megascans with the photos from my Samsung M30 16mp Camera??
That landscape is absolutely gorgeous!. I would pay a good penny to see the entire process.
Thank you been waiting on this one for a minute since you guys teased it a few months ago
finally something about stylized design!
Man the environment at the end, freaking beautiful
I've been using Substance painter.... but this... it's so sleek, so clean, so organized!! my gosh I need this.
If only i had this half a year ago.. Great stuff as always!
What impresses me is that you can save as a smart material and apply it to other assets and it works.
I know I'm pretty late to the party, but I'm trying to move away from Adobe (if anything for the money) and learning GIMP and Quixel, so while there arent many tutorials, I appreciate the ones here!

Very helpful tutorial! This was my first time using Mixer, and I only had to look up how to "append" things. (Hold alt and click!)
I dont even make games or anything but damn this was interesting as hell.
same lol
Sweeeett! Exactly what I needed, right for my birthday haha. Thanks a lot Quixel.
Happy Birthday!!
@@gdavis3d Thanks man =). Great tutorial btw.

Substance Painted: *sweats nervously*

TYSM for this tutorial! I've been thinking about getting into blender and this makes me want to try and learn it so much more.
Just what I was looking for
So Awesome! Hoping to see a tutorial on how the foliage is done!
The final enviornment looks so much better than all the hyper-realistic ones. God I love stylized styles
this was amazing! thank you galen !
Glad you liked it, Michael!! Hope you are doing well
This video was beautiful

Would love to know about how you did the foliage too.
Look up Woodbound Grass, the guy who made that game wrote many articles on how to achieve the wind highlight and that style of grass.
We definitely need more of that!
Wow Really Cute Quixel
More stylized assets please!!
Damn! looks awesome

The environment look like the game “Children of the Sky”
Superb models and ideas
I want more of this!
Coming right up!!
How do you generate the the rawk_ao and rawk_curve 6:11?
I wast just thinking “man I wish I could use the megascans for stylized scenes”
I want your guys playlist..The song's you use are so relaxing
This is so incredible. Thank you so much.
Amazing stuff!

17:00 - So good...it's like from that mononoke hime reference.✨
Hey Quixel fam, would LOVE to see a download for that UE4 environment. SO many things about it I want to pick apart and learn from!
this would have been great to follow along, perhaps project files would be a great addition. Its nice to learn by doing or have an opportunity to explore as we are working through a tutorial or small project
Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial on how to make a studio ghibli dirt foot path underneath the stone steps like that?
Amazing tutorial. I hate sculpting 10000000000 different rocks, this should speed up my process
Nice vid
Holy smokes, I had no idea I could use Quixel in this way!
stylized vegetation next!
When you say check out the video where Josh does a deep dive into each of these elements at 7:45 , which video are you referring to ?
its incredible! thanks
MY KINGDOM for a part 2 (or 3, 4, and 5)!!

ua-cam.com/video/C63K77TFzm0/v-deo.html - I thought to find in projection modifier of mixer fundamentals
does anyone know where i could find assets that look like this for ue5? such as foliage rocks land textures and so on? alot like how you can just download the mega scans and drop them in?
sketchfab, but mostly not free
Looks like fun
a step by step on how to make this would introduce so many new people to the art
NICE WORK!!! Thanks a lot
You guys Rock! =)
Downloaded it and crashes immediately on loading a project...
So we can't use the content I make from mixer to other game engine for commercial use?
Please do make a tutorial for the glass.
Wonderful!
Do you have a tutorial how to make these kind of environment?
