I want a separate tutorial for the foliage haha. That grass and the cute little shimmery wind shader is just so prett.
Second that! edit: trees look like simple cards tho?
@@StrayVertex I'm pretty certain they are- since they're not moving at all xD
That's not going to be Quixel tutorial though, but UE4. And there are tons of tutorials on grass on it.
Collateraldebris that’s called ‘billboarding’ if I understand you correctly
make it happen
Oh wow the quality of these scene is outstanding!
That landscape is absolutely gorgeous!. I would pay a good penny to see the entire process.
Man the environment at the end, freaking beautiful
wooo really awesome. I'm just getting started with mixer and I've been experimenting a bit with rocks, tiles and bumpy materials in general combining them. Didn't really know what solid layers could be useful for, well, now I do! Thanks for everything, and keep going!
Guys, this is awesome. Thanks so much for sharing this.
You were probably waiting for this
Really glad you like it!
How are you not verified and why dont you have more subs!?😆
@@tjseries3057 Pretty much. A ton of great tips I'm going to use in future videos.
@@teddybergsman5358 You go Glen Coco!
Substance Painted: *sweats nervously*
finally something about stylized design!
Super cool stuff about stylized materials. Looking forward to see more of that! :)
TYSM for this tutorial! I've been thinking about getting into blender and this makes me want to try and learn it so much more.
What an great tutorial. I'd love to see more Mixer tutorials, and Mixer + Blender setups. Texturing custom assets, both organic and hard surface would be interesting to see. What did the artist here use for baking and UV-ing, Zbrush? Also, do you need UVs for the procedural texturing, or only if you are painting on the asset?
i was about to start a Stylized Environment with megascans ... lucky day
Can I make Megascans with the photos from my Samsung M30 16mp Camera??
I was hoping for such a video for a long time :). Is it possible to get an extended breakdown like 2 hours long? I would love to see how the foliage system works, especially trees. Amazing work neverthless.
Thank you been waiting on this one for a minute since you guys teased it a few months ago
If only i had this half a year ago.. Great stuff as always!
Sick vid! Thanks for taking the time to make it :D
I'm sure it's helped a ton of folks!
I've been using Substance painter.... but this... it's so sleek, so clean, so organized!! my gosh I need this.
The best workflow ever!! Bravo Bravo!!
I think would be awesome to have something like this built from scratch. Not every project is hyper realistic. Would have loved to see how the sky was approached, grass and many others. Would be cool if you guys could do it with this similar to the others you put out
Thank you. These tutorials are very helpful.
Really awesome showcase!❤️ I do know that Quixel is highly focussed towards their MegaScans for explaining Mixer stuff. So I'm wondering if there will be any tutorials about using Mixer for custom character-creation? Like for example on how to properly texture a horse with fur (is there a procedural approach for this even?)? Or getting a face of a human textured properly? I'd really love to see a full tutorial on something like that :3 ❤️
Very helpful tutorial! This was my first time using Mixer, and I only had to look up how to "append" things. (Hold alt and click!)
You are the best! Thank you! This is something I have been looking for!
What impresses me is that you can save as a smart material and apply it to other assets and it works.
You guys are revolutionary
So Awesome! Hoping to see a tutorial on how the foliage is done!
We definitely need more of that!
this is the best tutorial I have ever watched!! bravo
We are exploring the Quixel in every tutorials .
We need more in less time 🤍🖤
I'm not sure but those references look a lot like studio ghibli stills. Lovely work as always😍
7:00 into the tutorial...so informative and straight to the point on sculpting and getting the stylize mesh ready in zbrush....So great so far...like starting at the base color in mixer now...background music is awesome!!! ✨
Sweeeett! Exactly what I needed, right for my birthday haha. Thanks a lot Quixel.
Happy Birthday!!
@@gdavis3d Thanks man =). Great tutorial btw.
It was exactly this style of texture that I wanted a tutorial and still in Mixer, I have been looking for a long time. It seems to read my mind, thank you very much, but if you can make a more elongated tutorial, style those of 1 hour, ty.
This is so incredible. Thank you so much.
so beautiful! great job
Great tutorial and beautiful artwork. I was wondering if this workflow can be used for Rocks and boulders without UVs.
8:18 Imperfection Maps are sick!!!😱✨
This the video I was WAITING for
Hey Quixel fam, would LOVE to see a download for that UE4 environment. SO many things about it I want to pick apart and learn from!
this was amazing! thank you galen !
Glad you liked it, Michael!! Hope you are doing well
Great tutorial. This may be less specifically about Mixer and Megascans but I would love to see a breakdown of how the whole scene was put together. Just sayin' :)
I want your guys playlist..The song's you use are so relaxing
17:00 - So good...it's like from that mononoke hime reference.✨
this would have been great to follow along, perhaps project files would be a great addition. Its nice to learn by doing or have an opportunity to explore as we are working through a tutorial or small project
MY KINGDOM for a part 2 (or 3, 4, and 5)!!
How did you rework the megascans grass assets, the trees, and your environment set up? We need to know! Please let this become a multi-part series. Please please please.
Just what I was looking for
Amazing stuff!
This video was beautiful
I dont even make games or anything but damn this was interesting as hell.
same lol
Damn! looks awesome
To anyone else who almost had a stroke trying to figure out how to 'append' a layer... it's not called 'appending' it's called layer clipping. .-. Why it wasn't refered to such in the video, we'll never know. Alt + Click on a layer.
its incredible! thanks
it's so beautiful :''')
More stylized assets please!!
Wow Really Cute Quixel
Superb models and ideas
Awesome! Is the environment accessible?
I think it best to call the ''Mask Stack" Modifiers, That's would really help us familiarise with this term . Most of us nowadays are using Blender and I think is better to make the terms in Mixer to march that of blender. That would lower a lot the entry barrier for Mixer.
I wast just thinking “man I wish I could use the megascans for stylized scenes”
Looks like fun
Great video. Just one question.
Is there any point to having a curvature map if we just use 'Underlying Mix' when using a Curvature Mask Component? I don't see any change between having a Curvature map or not on the base layer, unless I change the mask component to use 'Base Curvature Map'.
Wonderful!
NICE WORK!!! Thanks a lot
Thank you for the tutorial! I have now created a rock.. It may not look good, but it is a rock.
The final enviornment looks so much better than all the hyper-realistic ones. God I love stylized styles
Very cool!
awesome thank you
You guys Rock! =)
stylized vegetation next!
Would love to know about how you did the foliage too.
Look up Woodbound Grass, the guy who made that game wrote many articles on how to achieve the wind highlight and that style of grass.
Nice vid
The environment look like the game “Children of the Sky”
I want more of this!
Coming right up!!
Holy smokes, I had no idea I could use Quixel in this way!
this was a great video and i will most defintly use but i was wondering if u can do the same thing with a sword and a axe
Porreiro.
Obrigado pelo video.
I want to learn Unreal Engine and Quixel Mixer so badly, but it just seems so daunting. I'd love to see a series that starts with nothing and ends with a fully finished scene. I don't care if it's 40 hours long. I'll watch it and follow the whole damned thing.
With that said, I did learn from this video and the scene looks amazing...
Prepare for years of that. The faster you accept how difficult this stuff is to master, the quicker you can stop thinking about the daunting task ahead, and just start creating.
There are no shortcuts, all of us go through years of work before you build up all of the specific knowledge needed to make beautiful scenes. There are no tutorials in the world that can convey the gut feeling of an experienced artist.
I would literally kill to make something like that!
How did u make dem trees, looks really good
Aw yisss!!!
When I go to add the scattered tile map component (11:21) there are no files shown in my local library tab when the type dropdown is set to 'Atlas' - am I missing something?
so haw can i create the grass trees and clouds?those looks so beautiful
cool
Hey, I used S. painter anf now that mixer is free and well integrated with ue4 I wonder if I should jump to it. Can you tell me which are the main features I'd miss from painter or what are the extras mixer has? I know I can't bake high poly to low poly in mixer. What about: having triplane projection, paint in uv space, paint by geometry/uv island, having good mask generators? A feature i liked in SP is that I can make height/normal details with painting/stamps and use that details directly in generators without rebaking the normals? does it work here? Anything else? Thx.
You talk about baking a lot what program did you bake it in? I would have loved to see that process and its sad that it was not included. I'm new to 3d and it helps watching pro's work.
Amazing tutorial. I hate sculpting 10000000000 different rocks, this should speed up my process
Man i wouldnt mind a tutorial of even a paid course just for this entire scene from the clouds to the rendering etc etc
I agree that would be awesome.
Still wishing have it's own texture baker. Epic should buy Marmoset already
Thank you very much.
From, A Substance Painter user.
BTW Does mixer has inbuilt map bakers or do you have to use some other program to bake maps?
Hey James!! We are investigating this for future releases, so the current version does not have this feature set as of this recording.
*Picking my jaw up off the ground!* My only questions are can I use things created in Mixer inside Blender and Photoshop?
Yes.
@Quixel Would you use Mixer to paint/texture a character model to fit the stylized look, or is that best done using Substance Painter? I haven't found any humanistic character models being textured in Mixer yet!
it's all about skill and comfort. choose whatever feels good for you
miyazaki influence everywhere!!!!
Can you please do something similar for a normal megascan 3d rock lod 5 that has pbr metalness workflow ? Or specify wich maps to use instead of the ones you used here (as they are way different)
This is so frikking helpful! Downloading Mixer right away!
Right on!!
He said y'all! Howdy from Mississippi!
Howdy!!
7:09 - how do you change the background color gradient?
more stylized tutorials please

Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial on how to make a studio ghibli dirt foot path underneath the stone steps like that?
you top for texturing
