Track saws and cutting systems that use them are quite the rage. And it makes sense. What a great way to get large pieces cut down to more manageable sizes, straight line rip stock, cut funky angles, and more. But here’s my question: can you use a track saw and cutting system to produce all the parts you’d need to make a cabinet? In other words, is a good track saw cutting system a reasonable substitute for having a table saw in your shop, or for building cabinets on-site? Let’s put Kreg’s system through its paces and see.

That does look nice for repeated cuts. I sort of hate throwing large sheets onto my table saw too.

I bought this system. It’s good but I found myself just wanting to use my table saw. Now I just use the table as a workbench 🤷‍♂️

Does this work table have to be stored in a moisture free environment? Or would a covered patio area be fine?

      Hello Sarah,
      Thank you for contacting us.
The track is made of aluminum so it won't rust. That said, it would be better to store indoors if possible.
If you have any other questions, please chat, email, or call Customer Service.
      Sincerely,
      Sarah

@@Wwgoa thanks, but I was referring to the mdf or whatever the tabletop material is. Would that be ok outside? I dont have a garage or shop.

You need to keep it indoors. The top of the ACS is made of MDF, which if exposed to water absorbs it like a sponge and warps the material.

@@SithLandlord lol, too late. I've had it on my back patio for a very long time now. Unfortunately I have no other place to put it. Someday I'll have a workshop, but for now the covered patio we built is way better than setting up shop inside my small house.

Still have no clue about what’s going on and if I need a Kreg Tracksaw

    • @SithLandlord

The Adaptive Cutting System comes with the track and tracksaw. It's a "system" meant to be use all together. You can buy ther tracksaw separately, but they don't sell the ACS without it.

Can you use the table instead of table saw. I am terrified from the blade on the table saw spinning up in the air.

What about cutting rabbits or grooves?

I would rather use my router for that. More precise and safer

It seem like it takes a bit for that saw to spin up.

Sounds like a soft start (like a router) to me. No sudden kick.

@@wiseoldfool And besides that, the saw has anti-kickback which is cool
