- We got a tour of Sam Pura's weirdly-but-accurately-named DRUMBRELLA while we were in town for him to mix "Light Year" by The Story So Far on Nail The Mix.
In world where everybody is looking for unique drum sounds in their plugins or digital signal chain (and there's nothing wrong with that), this is a good reminder that sometimes it's a good idea to turn off the computer and think about how you can create unique drum sounds at the source by working with drum room and how you capture it.

Can't hear the difference with the room mics so loud. Would love to hear this with the OH's isolated.
thanks i was thinking that
agreed, and not the slamming of the kick snare at the same time all fast and shit... give us some time to HEAR the notes and decay or lack there of decay when lowering...
@@unityofnoise This is what happens when you have the mommy n daddy money to open a studio without the practical wisdom for proper execution. I’ve had friends work with this guy before and he’s a fkn joke. Incompetent and unprofessional.
That room sound...
I would kill to have a drum room like that. Sick video! 🤘
Comparison:
Drumbella High - 1:13
Drumbella Low - 1:53
Drumbella Sweet Spot - 3:31
Thanks !
this dude is off his rocker, but when i can follow this crazy energy i really like where his head's at
You’re right about the first part. Dude is wayyyy too overpriced for the quality of work he puts out.
Any chance i can “directly copy” you for my drum room? Lol! Got build specs? Also what hoist is that?
Cheers!
Sick🐐🐐🐐
Good Lord this is sick
Cool room
Beautiful, sounds like a Brendan O' Brien record, if I only had a room like that.
Any idea what its constructed from is it just rockwool panels? I am gonna build one of these beasts
Sacksmasher078 it should be A45 Rockwool but I bet it’s just something like celetex
@@jobelewis6416 you don't think it's like Roxul AFB mineral wool? Or Owens Corning 713?
Please pull down the room mic next time, so it is actually possibly to hear the difference - because I am sure it's super cool :) Thanks for the video though!
sooo sick.ilu sam
😄Sam is the best!
Thank you, now I want one 😑
Seriously for all that work, hardly a difference in the cans. Super subtle considering how much room you use. Should have done it without room mics.
Literally nobody can tell the difference.
I am nobody
Apparently im nobody as well
Whats funny is that ultimately the effort in creating this is really not that worth it whatsoever. It's cool though! Its just that modern mixing has advanced to the point that this is no longer worthwhile
Hope that’s not the “band’s” drummer
looking for record label support Sam wouldn't give me a price to do the work lmao hmu ill do it myself with record label help
Sam I'll grow your pot get me in the stud
But then we make my whole rock album with programmed drums and get it done
