Part of the problem is scouting reports from the time a prospect is 15-16 years old typically “lock” the prospect into a potential role, as superstar, role player, starter, relief pitcher, etc. and the systems rarely deviate from those early reports regarding their “plans” for the prospect as they move through the farm systems, regardless of how they develop physically or from a skill set perspective. That is one big reason why struggling young players often break out after being traded to a new team - the new team takes a fresh look and doesn’t look back at what those early scouting reports said.
I know it's not the point of the video but I can't imagine the Expos ever getting back fair value for Pedro or Randy. They were always cashstrapped (to my knowledge) and the teams trading with them knew they were desperate to get something before the stars left town.
Yeah they were never going to get equal value in return. The more egregious in my opinion are the trades that got rid of guys like Brandon Phillips, Sizemore, Cliff Lee, etc
Interesting about that Yordan Fields trade is the Astros have so far won 2 rings off of it. As in that ws series game he got shelled it happened to be extras which his team would match the 2 runs with a pair of runs themselves but in the 11th would lose the game. Meaning if Josh Fields didn't come out there the Dodgers win in 6 and that is how you get 2 rings as the other was 2022. Now if you track Fields before he made it to the majors he did move around as he used to be in the Seattle system before he was traded to Boston along with Erik Bedard (as the Mariners were trying to get rid of him so they needed to sweeten the deal). The Red Soxs then left Fields unprotected to be picked up in the Rule 5 Draft by Houston.
For extra context on the Marlins, Isan Diaz, Jordan Yamamoto, and Monte Harrison DID reach the majors for the Marlins, though. ...only to put up below replacement-level value. Isan Diaz was a free out, either at the plate, or on the basepaths, and constantly gave up freebies when he was fielding. Yamamoto was promising in the first 3 starts, then the league figured him out, and he never adjusted. And Monte Harrison could never lay off breaking balls off the plate and was apparently a clubhouse cancer, if his fight with Starling Marte was anything to go off of. Overall, that trade is notable for producing 4 players, none of whom had fWAR that exceeded -0.1. Derek Jeter masterclass.
I know all three of these players made the majors, but I think the face of the Diamondbacks, Paul Goldschmidt getting traded to Arizona for Carson Kelly, Luke Weaver and Andrew Young. So basically, Cardinals got 2 faces of other teams, while giving up a backup catcher, a couple of mediocre pitchers, an couple of backup infielders and 3 minor leaguers.
Turn up you mike!!!! And I would suggest sound quality, you make greasy videos with great info but it’s hard to watch and listen to I feel like you would get so much more sucess if you fixed those things
He should be, but so should Russell Wilson in the NFL. People forget how good they were at their peaks sadly; last impressions matter more than a lot of us give credence to.
@@lunarumbreon7699 I'd say their peaks are similar, but Wilson probably did fall off a bit harder, and all at once. Still, going from a 7-WAR player to a 2.5 or even lower WAR player the last 2 years is quite the dropoff.
@@RealBlueony still that puts him at a decently above average player. Wilson’s first year in Denver was completely awful, even if he bounced kind of back for the second season
@@lunarumbreon7699 Arenado had a year like Wilson's second in Denver last year, but this year has been an unmitigated disaster. 0.9 BWAR thus far this year, and while he has a slightly better 1.5 FWAR, his offense is still horrific.
Idk i feel like this would have been a pretty good trade, Brewers got one of the best pitchers in the league while the Royals got part of their World Series core, feels fairly balanced
if the rangers didnt win the world series cole ragans for a falling off aroldis chapman would already be seen as one if the biggest robberies of all time. chapman didnt even do much to help the rangers win it

bro switched races mid throw
The fact that the Dodgers could have Shohei and Yordan in the same lineup is super scary.
they both DH. when alvarez was traded there was no DH in the NL, and he wasn't a good defender, so there was no place for him.
@a-love-supremist I thought he plays left field
@@ninjatacosharkhe does but he’s horrible

“Unless they buy a ticket” 😂😂😂
that shields trade will forever haunt me. I seen it going the way it went from 150 Miles away.
The Royals sort of won a trade with the Rays, the James Shields deal pushed the Royals to the World Series in 2014.

These videos are the perfect thing to watch during lunch
Video audio, loud af… ad read audio, basically silent. Gotta equalize my guy 🤣
Normalize, but yeah.
Great video! I just wanted to letcha know your ad read is significantly quieter than the rest of the video.

As a Cubs fan every time a White Sox fan teases me about Lou Brock I can remind them of Fernando Tatis JR
Bro's enitre comment section is bots 💀
So annoying man 🥲
Guardians really got emanuel clase for 1 inning of corey kluber
S/o to the dodgers for basically handing the astros one of the best hitters I've ever seen
That wasn't a slide from Ty Cobb that was the kick they throw on the cover of the 3 Ninja movies.
I do appreciate how you are nearly inaudible on the sponsored ad, just how it should be.
If the Dodgers knew what would've happened with Yordan and the 2017-2019 Astros oh boy they may have taken it back
Made the horrible trade 😂
Once again, MTC delivers the goods for the deep story MLB fans. ⚾ 🔥 ❤️
Volume discrepancies are real.
Wonder why Josh fields retired. He was actually pretty good in his time with the dodgers.
post draft clarity

At this point are we even questioning if Nolan Arenado is a Hall of Famer?
He should be, but so should Russell Wilson in the NFL. People forget how good they were at their peaks sadly; last impressions matter more than a lot of us give credence to.

The arenado trade is a all time bad trade, even at the time

Andrew Friedman is insanely over rated. He's bailed out by the deepest pockets in baseball.
