- This video shows how to remove and install the side mirror LED turn signal light on a 2015 Volkswagen Golf mk7. This will work on the Jetta mk7 as well.
The part number for the light is 5GM-949-101 (left side)
5GM-949-102 (right side)

Thanks for your video it was really helpful. I've just replaced my indicator lens this morning, very straightforward with no complications. Even the cable detached easily. As someone else has said you can detach front cover without having to remove mirror.
Glad that the video helped you. Good job!
Very helpful video. For me, 6:49 is when I would check that the replacement works before re-assembly - especially if it's not a genuine VM part.
Thanks for educating us. Now up to buy a cool set of dynamic mirror indicators.
Lovely detailed video and saved me a lot of breaking the mirror :D
Thank you for the comment.
Super detailed and useful video, Thank you, brother.
Thanks!
Дякую,приятелю! Дуже корисна інформація! Коротко,і розумно!
Thank you! I'm glad that I could help.
Thanks to you lesson,i changed mirror and light.
Insert Chinese dynamic led.
Sorry about my Oxford English 😙
@@АнатолійКудін-п5к - Good job!
@@Corysdiyauto In my car,and many other, made in Germany, has primitive problem- bad glue on mirror. In cold weather I started heater mirror, and glass disconnected, dropped and brocken.
In new, same bullshit quality glue,I repeat high temperature silicone. Because is crazy surprise.
@@АнатолійКудін-п5к - That's ashame. They could've used a better glue!
I have tried to follow this helpful video, but it seems that the tabs were already snapped by the previous owner when I tried to remove the back cover of the mirror. Does anyone know how I can get round this please?
I have the same problem trying to find a solution but no luck? Did you find a solution im happy to hear it from you!
Thanks in advance
I took it to a garage in the end they were able to do it! They only charged £40, as I already had the replacement indicator part.
@@AdamM-ff2fd where did you buy? Thanks! And did you change both?
I bought if from Amazon I believe. I just changed one, as I only had one that was faulty.
@@AdamM-ff2fd can you drop me a link of the product site doesn’t matter that much
Super detailed and useful!
Very helpful, thank you!
You're welcome!
hello buddy, I had a cracked mirror cap but its not the upper cap shown in your video, its the lower cap. The question is can I change the lower cap without removing the outer door panel , because lower cap holds the mirror main neck from its hole.
Hello there, I believe you have to remove the inner door panel to access the screws that hold the side mirror on. You'll need to take the mirror off of the car and then replace the part that you need. It might be easier to locate a new or used mirror and just replace the whole assembly.
@@Corysdiyauto thank you👍 I discovered that inside notches of mirror frame also broken as result caps were not holding very tight and my upper cap already have crack, plus just tip of the indicator bar broken from the tip just small area but it looks like absent in the insertion point, in addition I broke the main mirror while I try to seperate frame mirror😔 I tried to avoid buying the whole mirror but now it seems have to buy it because removing the door covers too much hassle for me because of the limited time, also so five different parts I need come nearly cost of complete mirror
@@poormanstrackframe - Sorry for your luck with the mirror. Maybe you can find a used one?
Do they superglue the connectors in or something? I've tried for like 30 minutes and it won't come out, and it isn't even close.
kekag - It's definitely a tight fit, but it will come out.
Mine were glued in.
@@IamAxelwe’re you able to get it out? Mine are to
@@Andre-tr7nc yeah eventually, and I didn't break them! I don't remember the details at this point it was years ago
I have to buy a part?? I thought it was just the bulbs
Sandra Romero - There is no bulb because it's a LED (Light Emitting Diode) and that's why you have to buy the whole unit. Things aren't as simple as replacing a bulb anymore unfortunately.
@@Corysdiyauto omg. Mine just warned me and I noticed that that ligt was out and I decided to look it up.
It sounds simple. Thanks for the video. But sucks now I have to look for the part and order one. Hahaha
@@sromero6738 - I put the part numbers up in the description for your reference. Good luck with everything and thanks for the comment!
@@Corysdiyauto mine is a 2015 volkswagen golf.
@@sromero6738 - That's the same year as the one in the video.
Those mirror cap clips are too weak and break very easy! Be careful when pulling them down
Good point!
Cracked my mirror glass trying to pop it out :'(
Oh no. Sorry to hear that 😕
This video was so helpful, I really appreciate that you took the time to show every step and what things look like from different angles.
eelharon - Thank you! I try to make it easy for anyone who wants to attempt to do the job themselves.
For anyone watching. Mirror (glass) doesn’t need to come off. U can access the 2 cover tabs my moving the mirror down all the way. Saves time and possibility to break glass! Great vid:)
Thanks for sharing this tip!
@@Corysdiyauto if I wanna replace the frame, do I have to take the light , mirror and cover all off?
To replace the whole assembly, you'll need to remove the interior door panel and then unbolt the mirror assembly from the inside.
@@Corysdiyauto Not the whole thing, just the frame between the glass and the cover. its cracked. All good. I find some details in your videos about that parts.
Thank you man you save my day
Don't make my mistake - don't do this when it's cold out!
I have to do this. Thank you for making this video.
You're welcome. Good luck with it.
Had a quick question, is this light LED or the regular orange light. I have a 2015 Golf and my right side mirror signal went out and wanted to make sure they are matching and not different colors
It's the stock OEM orange light.
Thanks!
Thank you! I appreciate it.
Excellent explanation, very detailed and easy to follow. Just what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the comment!
Just followed your instructions, done!!! Thanks a lot😊
Good job! Glad the video helped you.
Very helpful video. Thanks you!
Thank you for the comment!

No, that's not necessary.
