All things car and truck related, with the main focus being my 2001 Volkswagen Golf TDI. I like to help others with DIY tasks and hopefully you can benefit from watching my channel. I'm not a mechanic, but I'm mechanically inclined and enjoy working on cars in my spare time. I've saved a lot of money over the years by doing things myself and you can too!

Volkswagen Golf mk4 TDI power steering line removal and install
In this video, I show how to remove and replace the power steering lines on my 2001 Volkswagen Golf TDI. This vehicle has a manual transmission; therefore, I needed to buy the "CG" feed line. The part number is 1J0422893CG. The return line is 1J1422891E. The banjo bolts at the rack get torqued to 28 ft/lbs (38Nm), The banjo bolt on the power steering pump gets torqued to 22 ft/lbs (30Nm). I prefer using the VW OEM power steering fluid since generic fluid has been known to cause leaks in the steering rack.

In this video, I show how to install 2" rear wheel spacers on my 2022 John Deere 2025r. These spacers help to add stability to the tractor, especially on hilly terrain. As shown in the video, the tires do in fact clear the 60" MMM (mid mount mower). I chose to purchase the BRO-TEK brand because of the build quality. How to disable daytime running lights in a VW Golf mk4
Переглядів 4595 місяців тому
In this short video, I show how to disable the daytime running lights (DRLs) in a 2001 VW Golf. This can be done in all mk4 Golfs and Jettas. I was tired of wasting bulb life with the DRLs on during the day. I have expensive LEDs and I want them to last as long as possible. This modification was a must in my opinion. Thanks for watching!

Hi did that get rid of the code
Yes it did.
😭
That rear one is a pain!
Yeah I know. Hopefully you got it without any trouble.
That rear wiper is a pain to remove. I ended up breaking the the wiper arm 😔
Oh no. Sorry to hear that.
@ no problem. I ordered an oem replacement for $27
@@Nick-NY - That's not too bad at all.
@@Corysdiyauto yeah, I was expecting a lot worse. It's supposed to come today. Hopefully it's the correct one.
@@Nick-NY - Good luck with the install.
when it cranked and wont start did it give you an immobilizer activation error on the dash?
Thank you good Sir. I was too overwhelmed to go to the manual. Unfortunately I scratched a bit of the hood trying to do it on the normal position but what can you do.
You're welcome. Sorry to hear about the hood scratch.
Thanks for this video
You're welcome. Glad that it helped you.
You da man! Things are a pain! Lol!
Haha, thank you!
Merci bcp, easy peasy🙂👍

You are awesome! wonderful video. Thanks.
Thank you!
Thank you. I was able to leave the gym in 5 minutes after i received my key fob after accidentally crushing my old one at the gym.
You're welcome! Thank you and keep the fob in a safe place! Haha
Nice video , I have the same issue on my 2004 , great informative video
Thank you!
Da man!! One little edit, it’s 32mm and not 1-1/4”.
Yes, you're right. 1¼ will work fine if you don't have a 32mm socket. They are very close to the same size: 1.25" vs 1.25984"
@ I couldn’t get 1-1/4” to work.
Either you have tiny hands or just plain lucky. I cannot reach back as easily to get it off. Might have to remove my bumper again to get it off Edit* Apologies for the frustration. I found out my problem. Mine is a 13’ TDI Sportwagen and unlike yours, it has a rubber cap and the light was able to pop out completely (wireless)which made it easier to install. Either it’s aftermarket or maybe model specific but other than that, I was able to squeeze my hand in. After that, the process was the same. Thx for the upload.
Sounds like you have a different setup. I've never worked on a Sportwagen before, but I'm glad that you figured it out. Thank you!
@@Corysdiyautofor sure. Sportwagens are weird. I mean it’s a great car but I guess it has its own set of problems. Once again I appreciate the upload.
Is there any way to check the fluid before replacing?
Do you mean check the fluid level? If so, you just need to be on a level surface and remove the fill plug. If fluid comes out, then you are at the correct level. There's not a dipstick on this transmission.
U are a life saver man! I cannot repay u enough.
Thank you!
Thank you! Very helpful especially with the back wiper blade!
You're welcome!
Thanks👏👍
I know this is 6 years old but man you just saved me so much hassle. I am getting ready to do one of these and wondered what was going to be in the way. Thanks for making it concise and mentioning the socket sizes. You just saved me easily 8 hours of mistakes. Thanks so much man.
Glad you found the video. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Hopefully everything goes well for you!
Wow so glad you put this video up. It saved my life thank you thank you thank you........A+++++++++++++++++++

Hi there, excellent and easy explanation. I have a question for you; what exactly is the name of the black handled adapter. In my Jetta there’s not adapter. Thanks I really appreciate if you could help me out with this. Abel is my name
The car came with it like that from the factory. What year is yours? This Jetta is a 2015.
@ 2013 Jetta, I bought it 3 years ago since then I noticed there’s not adapter. When the bulb has to be replaced; I have to used a electrical black tape in order to hold it. Thanks for your help
@Abel_Lomeli - Maybe someone broke it off years ago?
@@Corysdiyauto yes it could be broken. Cheers
Thank you for sharing man🙌🏻
You're welcome! Glad you liked it.
I have a question, great video btw, my wife has a 2025 equinox and was wondering if the smell of exhaust fumes (after the problem has been fixed) can the air cabin filter trap some of the residue in that cotton filter ? Suv has only been driven for about 5k miles. Purchased brand new two months ago. She accidentally hit a curb and ever since it has had some fume smells but it has been fixed by the dealership but there is still a faint hint of fumes coming through the vents often.
That's a possibility. I would replace the filter and see what happens. Hopefully it solves the problem for you.
@Corysdiyauto thank you so very much for your swift response. I think I'll definitely switch it out with a K&N filter if they have one. Keep up the good work
@MrTatouA - Thank you!
That access point is truly ridiculous. A good % of people don’t have a 7/32” socket set up. Who designs this crap? What about people that aren’t mechanically inclined? Thankfully I am, but this just has no logic. Nice vid.
I agree. Thank you!
This is bad advice. I just changed the rear wiper without having to unbolt it from the car
How did you do it?

Thank you for the comment!
You’re missing the windshield frame moulding (PN# 1J0 853 306). It’s connected to the bottom side of the windshield, and its purpose is to create a seal from cowl to glass. For anyone finding it difficult to get the cowl off- that’s why…. You need to spray some soap and water in there along that moulding and use a plastic tool to pop the cowl up and away from the glass little by little all the way across and back and forth until its completely separated from the window seal. Hope that helps. Just google the moulding part # above and you’ll understand.
Any issues with the shorter drain plug long term? Need to do the wife’s oil change here before it gets too cold out 😅
No issues at all. It's safe to use.
Thank-you!

Hi Cory, what is that diagram on the top of the battery? it looks like some sort of test or life indicator
It's a battery indicator eye. If it's black, the battery is good in theory. If it's yellowish or white then the battery is bad. I don't know if that is very accurate, but it's something to pay attention to.
Leave it to GM to make it a pain in the behind to complete DIY maintenance. Stupid screw access to the door.
It's definitely unnecessary.
Complete , clear and precise. Many thanks
Thank you very much.
well done 👍👍

Thank you very much for this awesome video👍😁
You're welcome!
Thanks for the video. Managed to change my indicator lights and the housing as one of them got hit. For me one of the screws holding the indicator down was stripped, and ended up ripping out the plastic it was screwed into when I removed the old indicator. Tried screwing down the new one but the hole didn’t line up that well, so one of the indicators didn’t get screwed down but the mirror cover clipped onto it and it does seem to be in place. Annoyingly my other indicator went okay and I screwed that down but the tab on the mirror cover snapped and only one of the tabs could go into the mirror. So I’m second guessing about whether or not it’s alright. Suppose I’ll just have to forget it and hope for the best? 😂 it looks alright and there’s no damage anymore which was the main thing for me. It’s a 2019 MK7.5 R
You're welcome. I'm glad that you found it helpful. Sorry to hear about the stripped screw. I wish manufacturers would make things simpler. Nice car though! I wish I had a Golf R.
Hi man, could you send me a link to exactly which bulbs these are? Both long-distance and horseshoe? I also have a vw golf 4, thanks
