Man, Marvel fans will still defend this stuff with their lifes. Just a few day ago, a marvel fan was saying to me that current hulk is a far better hulk than Edward Norton Hulk.
I would understand if he was saying Edward Norton was hard to work with and that was the reason he was fired but he was saying Edward Norton wanted to ruin Hulk and we were wrong for liking Edward Norton Hulk.

I like Robert Downey Jr. But Robert Downy Jr plays Robert Downy Jr. I don't see him playing any other character. I would love to be proved wrong. But having two Robert Downey Jr in the MCU is going to stick out like a sore thumb.
I completely agree with you, and at the same time, I would like the good guys to stay good guys, and villains stay villains. They had a great character with Wanda and her show was one of the better ones, and instead of making her grow from that, they made a beloved hero an unredemable villain. Even though it's probably gonna be a multivers variant, they are turning once again a beloved hero Iron man into one of the biggest villain in Marvel comics. I'm genuinely curious and, at the same time, concerned about this decision.
I think he will play a great Dr Doom, the problem is that he's already associated with Iron Man. I guess they could always make Dr Doom black in order to change his look from Tony Stark.

I think if they dive into the drama and tragedy that this concept is ripe for, it could be a brilliant move! If they go lazy and just coast on the fact that its RDJ it’ll be a mess. That said, I am very intrigued by this idea!
Right when I had a hope. I really can’t believe this is real. Idd why marvel is allergic to doing good doctor doom stories. He’s my favorite character in marvel comics and RDJ is a great actor. But man I’m just so sad. I don’t think he’ll be a one and done villain necessarily simply because Secret Wars is a story very heavily revolves around Doctor Doom. To not have him in that story would make the adaptation pretty much pointless. I think he’ll be there for the end credit scene of Fantastic 4 and then we’ll get him for 2 movies and then we’ll never get him again. Doesn’t matter either way. We’re doomed. Whether it’s Victor wearing Tony’s face or a variant we’re being robbed of what could be a fresh actor’s take. We could have a Hugh Jackman for doctor dooms. Instead we have a nostalgia driven iron man dressed in green.

The storyline’s in the comic with Ironman being Dr Doom suck, they are badly written and awful. This feels like a cheap gimmick and desperation from marvel by casting RDJ

It makes zero sense as Dr Doom is a person Called Victor Von Doom. That’s why he is called Dr Doom and he is a fundamental character in secret wars and FF. Having him be a tony Stark variant means it’s not even Dr Doom

Man the movie isn't out, stop it. RDJ has potential to flesh out Doom very well. Lets reserve judgement till the movie is released. We all learned assumptions are dumb to have early. I don't care that RDJ is back. That being said, I think Marvel is going that route to cause inner turmoil with the avengers and allies who have met Tony stark, and now see him as a main bad guy. Imagine Peter parkers inner fight to go up.against his mentor? The story has potential. This could be a multiversity version of Doom. I'll wait till it is released.
I’m not saying he is a bad actor, it feels like a gimmick. He is iron man and whether you like it or not general audiences associate him with Tony stark. There are plenty other actors out there to choose from. We shouldn’t be recycling the same actors over and over again. It looks like a desperate ploy from marvel. If RDJ hadn’t been the MCU already I’d be on bored with it
