- A quick look at one technique for time stretching samples on the Dirtywave M8.
*NOTE* Per Trash80 via Discord: since firmware 3.0, you should use LT[1-4] and not LOP to adjust the loop start position along the waveform.

For me, the LOP command is that I’m not able to scrub very far in the track. Like, say I want to use the duck fartz sound - I’m not able to seek to it. However, if I use the LT1 command, then I can.
LT1 is the command for LFO1 to retrig at a given offset. This means we can tell the LFO to start at the middle, which starts the sample playback at the middle. So with the duckfartz loop - offset 40 is the start of the second bar (25% of 256 (0xFF), 80 for the third bar, and C0 for the forth. With a 4 bar loop, every every change with edit+up offsets the start by a quarter note - which I find very easy to map in my head.
Awesome - great tip
Nice! It's good that you noted that you need to set the sample length to 0 in this case ! I couldn't figure it out
Great tips! Thank you.
Appreciate the support.
Really well explained - thanks
great! thanks for sharing!
This was really useful, as I had forgotten how to do this and in the original video on this subject, the M8 isn't close to the camera--hard to see the screen details.
It wasn't working for me at first because I didn't notice you need the length set to zero. Just want to point that out in case someone else is confused. It won't work without setting the length to zero.
Glad this was helpful. Great point about the length - I should have made a bigger deal of it.
Thank you!!! Saved my life, I was thinking my M8 is broken
That was fucking great. That you for sharing that. Definitely helpful.
Awesome. Glad it was useful - thanks for the support.
Just got the M8 and it's insane! Though the learning curve is steep in the beginning, does pay off to learn it well. Hope you'd make more vids like this :D
Thank you for the support! More vids on the way as time permits. Let me know if you have any specific requests.
@monsterlogostudios Making a drum beat from scratch, rythim and melody, applying effects/envelopes/lfos, so much to learn really 😅
@sarundayo A little bit of everything. I’ll see what I can do.
helped a ton thanks bro
Thanks, Ryan. Good tips. ♡
Appreciate the support and the kind words. 🙏
thanks for sharing! i'm saving this video to try it tomorrow.4:40 really intrigued me. may I ask where you got your keycaps? thanks in advance!
Thank you so much. Keycaps came from mkultra.click
This was a bit of a relevation for me - the pitching up/down while preserving the length isn't something I'd thought to try! Thanks.
I think the general principle for how the timestretching works here is the same as on the Digitakt - is that your understanding too?
Yes…or it was prior to the 1.5 update. With v1.5 introduced earlier this year, there are now
dedicated Werp and Repitch machines for time stretching and pitch effects on the Digitakt.
@@monsterlogostudioscheers. From what I understand of werp though, is that it basically just does this, rather than it being a new time-stretching algorithm. I could be wrong though!
@rorz999 likely correct. Having a “machine” just eliminates the hassle of setting it up. Much easier to use now.
Dunno why but my sample changes the pitch whenever i try this, im trying to stretch up a 120 bpm sample into 140
I'm on ver 3.2.2
@@voidenterthehighlightswhat note are you entering in your phrase to trigger the loop? Maybe try correcting the pitch there by adjusting your note up/down.
@@HellenButterlips C1. It's just not working for me. Tried different samples but it just doesn't sound right
