    I'd just like to say that I'm watching this again as I'm down an M8 rabbit hole and your overdubs are killing me 😂 "hand gesture" and "let's point at a few more things with that finger while I navigate the screen for no reason and try to make up for it as I overdub"

      Thanks hex! Yes it's hard to be consistent for a long time, so it creates opportunities for silly overdubs ;)

      Thank you Josh. I believe you'll pair it with the Deluge? I've wanted to pair it with other gear but it is so perfect in its own that often I just unplug every midi cable I attached to it thinking "there's not much I can't do with the M8 alone. Why bother sequencing other synths with it?" :)

      Thanks! I'd love to have some insight on your first track with it. I'm really curious about the combination of commands you used to create this semi generative piece.
      I've had a Peak for some time now and absolutely loved the update. There are so many possibilities and the noise as mod source sounds so good that I keep saving patches that are close to each other but so unique... It's hard to let them go!

      @@TristanBaldi Oh sorry man, forgot to check for a reply! My first track was a bit of a mess, I didn't really know what I was doing and I doubt I programmed the generative stuff very efficiently, some of the idea was based on another video I watched. From what I can see, the generative track (2) had specific notes programmed, but they each had a pvb command AND the notes were being decided by a slow Table with lots off note offsets, the main notes were referring to that table and selecting a note offset (tied to the minor scale) to get a variation of notes each time...That table also had a Hop and Ran command in it :) sorry I can't be more helpful, I was blundering my way through making this semi-generative track so it's not very clear and refined, but it worked!

      @@stateazure thanks for the reply. Very interesting I hadn't thought of combining pvb, random and notes offsets in tables. I'm not 100% sure how you did it exactly but that is some great insight. I'll try to find the video you're referring to!

    Nice video and great explanation. One think I still can not understand is TRG command on macro synth. Whatever I do it’s does nothing. As far as I understand it supposed to retrieve notes without triggering envelope. But it still trigger envelope. I use AHD envelope. Am I missing something?

    • @TristanBaldi
      @TristanBaldi  2 місяці тому

      Thank you. I'm not quite sure about the trg command as well but I know laaaaa uses it to strum some sounds and achieve some sort of paraphony with the macro synth. Try using it in a table instead of an Fx command in the regular phrase

      @@TristanBaldithanks for the reply. Yeah. I have tried to use it in all sort of situations. In the table and in the main fx. As a source for repeat and all kind of places I could think of. Still does nothing. Weird one.

    So I followed this tutorial, step by step. It is amazing . You are helping if nothing else learn the menus and commands and familiarize me with the many available fx and what can be done with them. I did use some of my own samples and changed it a little. But I use your tutorial outline and I did use the Novation patch you played in my track as well. Is it ok if I post my Track on my SoundCloud and or UA-cam if I give credit to you? I am a novice and not quite a professional yet or even that close to it . Still stumbling through my music adventures.

    • @TristanBaldi
      @TristanBaldi  Рік тому +2

      Hey, glad I could help!
      If you only changed it a little, maybe that now that you have a better grasp of the workflow you should make a track that is 100% your own!
      For one it will feel a lot better for you, and also as I released this track (the track I'm deconstructing on this tutorial) on my latest album I'd rather keep it to myself.
      If you only sampled the peak chords and rearranged the progression or modified the main sound that's fine you can call it your own for sure I don't mind!

    Question: how can I avoid song mismatches in song mode? When I add empty chains some parts play before and others after, very out of sync.

    • @TristanBaldi
      @TristanBaldi  8 місяців тому +1

      Your empty chains must contain a number of empty phrases that is matching the number of phrases your other tracks' chains contain so everything moves in sync.
      If you have a hop command somewhere or have changed the tic rate with the TIC command or any fx that changes the speed of any phrase, your chains will be out of sync. Does it make sense?

    If I am making a drum loop on a sample I record and I want the loop to play through , what settings do I need to put on the instrument? I made a drum loop and sampled it into the m8 ,named it and saved it. But it is not playing the whole loop when I sequence it and put into a track just the first few notes and it moves on. What am I doing wrong or do you have a video on creating my own drum loops for tracks using the sampler and my own drum machine ?

    • @TristanBaldi
      @TristanBaldi  Рік тому +1

      Hi, how do you sequence your drum loop? Don't forget the tracks are monophonic, so the loop will get cut by whatever other note of any instrument you put on the same track.
      Is the loop just randomly stopping? Is it playing at the right pitch? (C4 is the default pitch for samples that are not sliced I believe).
      Generally you want to make sure your drum loop fits your tempo (but you can later fake timestretch it), then if you don't slice it you just put a c4 at the beginning of your bar and fill the rest with empty phrases so it will play in sync with the rest.
      If you have a chain with the phrase like chain 01 with the c4 note in the beginning and then no chain at all the loop will stop. It will only continue if you have empty phrases afterwards.

    • @patansy3455
      @patansy3455 Рік тому

      @Tristan Baldi I used a drum machine and recorded a short sample drum loop. And I want to trigger the drum loop in a song track. I guess is what I am trying to figure out. The drum machine was sequencing itself. As I was recording samples of it into the M8.

    • @TristanBaldi
      @TristanBaldi  Рік тому +1

      Let's say you recorded a 64 bars drum loop. What you want to have is a phrase with the C4 note of the instrument you created with the sample in the first phrase (16 bars), and have 3 empty phrases after this in the chain. If FE is an empty phrase and 01 is the phrase containing the drum loop you should have 01>FE>FE>FE in order for the drum loop to go on for the whole 64 steps.
      If it's a 16 bars loop, you can have 01>01>01>01. Is that your question?
