    Former X670E Carbon Wifi user checking in! I've used the Carbon Wifi for 7-8 months, my CPU died. Sent everything in for service, motherboard came back without issues.
    I got an X670E Aorus Master board as I got sick of waiting for the motherboard back. I have to say, it feels like a competely different class of product. If you can afford the slight price increase, and can fit an E-ATX motherboard in your case, don't even think about it. Go for the Aorus Master.

    X670E Tomahawk has been the best AM5 board for me in terms of BIOS features, RAM stability and overall firmware/software. It was released only a few months ago, quite a bit later than B650 and especially X670(E) boards, which gives it the benefit of being more mature. Better stability than Gigabyte Aorus and Asus Gene.
    The case front panel takes care of USB, for which X670E has 2x 3.2 Type A (instead of 1 on Carbon) and more 2.0 than most cases have anyway. I connected 2x 3.2 + 2x 2.0 + 1x type-C 20Gb to my Fractal Design case, which gives in total 10 type-A and 3 type-C.
    It also goes for 290$ on Newegg right now, same price as Carbon.
    PCIE bandwidth in the past has made my old systems age faster, my 2600k I got rid off partly because PCIE 2.0 became limiting for the GPU, 6700k and Z170 I recently sold because it's only PCIE 3.0 and can't do rebar (aka SAM) which makes a huge difference. For that same reason B450 AM4 boards are now much less desirable than B550. I don't understand recommending PCIE 4.0 board, which almost guaranteed will become a limiting factor during AM5 lifespan when one can get PCIE 5.0 board with twice the bandwidth for the same money.
    And B650 Carbon will limit the GPU to PCIE 4.0x8, basically PCIE 3.0x16 bandwidth if you have M.2 in slot 2 or 3! Come on, that is not good, that is a bigger downside than all upsides that board has combined.
    I get buing 125$ B650 boards with PCIE 4.0, not 300$ ones. For that price it's only B650E and X670E.
    Some extra features on Carbon like clear cmos button on back pannel and toolless M.2 slot do not overweight the drawbacks at all. But Carbon looks nicer, I'll give it that :)
    2 more power phases on Carbon makes no difference either, these chips don't pull much power anyway, 20 or 16 or 14 or 12 phases it's all the same.

Dumping my ASUS board due to issues with it. One thing you need to take into consideration is if you want to run a 10gbe network card, then you really need a 2nd pcie x16 slot that can handle the bandwidth. This may be a case for getting the 670e or 650e.
    I've had my computer for many years and you may just wan that pcie 5.0 port because most games are GPU limited and you may want to upgrade 5 years down the road and keep your current CPU.

    • @officialyashvirgaming
      @officialyashvirgaming Рік тому +2

      Yeah agreed i'd comment about that but you've mentioned it already, he's seeing advantages of USB ports 3.2 which is a good thing, but that B650 Carbon Wifi has only 2 PCIE x16 lane
      now say if you put your RTX 40xx series the GPU itself will take 3 LANES, and it will probably cover the 2nd PCIE x16 lane, and if you got an ELGATO Internal Capture card like I do, it will be a TIGHT fit. - just saying , 😵‍💫🥶

    • @righteousone8454
      @righteousone8454 11 місяців тому

      No such thing. No x670e board has 2 x16 slots. It is either x16, or x16 that splits into x8 if you plug anything into 2nd slot.
      This is not Threadripper or Xeon platform. There are not enough lanes for your scenario
      10G lan will only take 8 Lanes, so x8, so you will need to sacrifice X16 lane for x8 and plug gpu in it, while your 10G adapter will be x8 too.
      Only on some motherboards. In most cases it is actually x16 first slot, and x4 in 2nd slot, and both slots are not connected electrically. 1 goes to CPU and 2nd goes to chipset.

    the best boards are those that DO NOT use intel i225-V NIC, that trash NIC is not worth all the trouble it has, i dont know of any NIC that has gotten more attempts to fix that this, so many hardware revisions, even more driver updates, and still, its full of various issues, just do a good search on it, you will find tons of issues with it. Get the realteck equipped boards instead if you like to have a stable internet connection and avoid troubles. Sure not all are having issues with i225-v, but many has, and its out of proportion compared to other NICS. I bet intel is giving them away for free,

    A hot of the press really interesting and affordable feature packed board is the Asrock B650E Taichi Lite. Really love the design of it compared to its bigger brother and looks to have everything one needs with fantastic 24+2+1 VRMs and 1x USB4. Will wait for some reviews and it to be available in the uk. anyone have this one in States or elsewhere yet? any good?

      find a board with good VRM thermals + that offers 6 -7 USB ports gen3.2 + atleast x1 usb c port
      And with at least 3-pcie x16(pcie4.0) lane or 4 lanes, the more the merrier. Also atleast one those pcie x16 lane, at least one of them must be pcie5.0 for you GPU

    • @xabo5171
      @xabo5171 9 місяців тому

      @@officialyashvirgaming this is the worst advice .. Atleast one pcie MUST be 5.0 for the GPU? No graphic card can utilize this generation of pcie lane, so if he does not plan to upgrade in the future to a brand new GPU, there is no point in spending a much larger amount of money for it. 6-7 usb ports with ATLEAST one usb c port... again you do not know what his plan is. Does he need the usb c? usb c is definitely not a must have feature. The thing you got right are the VRM temps, but almost every b650 board and higher has good enough VRM for it, apart from asus boards.
