    Thank you for this video. I just brought my first bass boat I pick it up in a few weeks. It comes with Lowrance units on it but I’ve always wanted the solix 15 and 12 so it’s in my near future

    Another question: Could you advise as to the length of both the transducer and power cords as found in a complete Solix unit? And please advise how the wiring for a second down imaging transducer is connected inline to the first? Thank you for your previous assistance.

    • @ridgetoriveroutdoors
      @ridgetoriveroutdoors  Рік тому +1

      Power cord is 6'. transducer is either 20' or 25'. If you are adding a second transducer, ie. down imaging. You will need a 14 pin splitter cable. Make sure you choose the correct one. Hummminbird.com has all the information you need.

    Thankyou for your video, very informative. I am looking at a Solix gen 3 . My concern is side imaging on the side closest to my long shaft trolling engine. My current plan is to install a second transducer board and a second SI transducer as far away as possible from the trolling engine, properly connected of course. Unfortunately this may look a little weird since the placement would be close to the boat side. Please comment . The reason for this is to eliminate interference and get the clearest picture possible. Again hope to hear from you.. jim

      James, your solution is correct. This is not uncommon. You will need to order an additional transom mount transducer. You will also need a 14M SILRY - SOLIX / APEX Side Imaging Left-Right Splitter Cable Item # 720112-1. This will give you right and left side imaging. I would not worry about how it looks. The transducers will be in the water. It is more important it functions correctly. Thanks for the question.

    What do you recommend to buy for sea boat fishing, with GPS 12 ‘ ? What about Raymarine ? Or Lawrence?

    • @ridgetoriveroutdoors
      @ridgetoriveroutdoors  2 роки тому

      If you are fishing saltwater, I would recommend the Solix 12. All Solix now come with all the features, such as SI, DI, GPS, etc.... If you have the desire to run dual thru hull Airmar transducers such as High and low, I would suggest going with Humminbird Apex. While I have fished in boats with Raymarine and Lowrance, I cannot offer suggestions to those brands as I do not use them day in and day out. I hope this information is helpful to you. Good luck!

    I have another question. I am still buying a Solix 15 this fall , touch wood. I know I need a separate dedicated 12 volt battery. My question is can I connect by ethernet a small gen 4 Helix if I place it in the consol. will it also need its own dedicated 12 volt battery or can I share using the Solix 15 battery? Not sure I want to do this and your answer will help me.
    Thanking you in advance.

      since I do not use Helix, I would suggest you ask customer service. That said, you do not need a second battery at all. I have my Solix wired directly to my cranking battery in all my boats. It is possible you may need a larger cranking battery, ie instead of a group 27, you might need to bump up to a group 31. Hope this helps.

    Were did you order the solix 15. And where is the best deal??

    • @ridgetoriveroutdoors
      @ridgetoriveroutdoors  3 роки тому

      My units came directly from the factory. As far as the best deal, if you look around at your local retailers, they might have specials going on. Otherwise, you could shop the internet. That said, many retailers may show out of stock or backordered. It is just that time of year. When my units were ordered they were on back order, but they showed up within 10 days. Good luck.
