What I admire most about this scene is how Kratos holds on to the axe. He is holding onto it for dear life. The axe symbolizes the love and loss of Faye. It’s kinda nice because it’s like Faye was with them in that moment
kratos only smiles two times in all previous games. first in gow 1 before poseidon sacrifice chamber (fire room) but it's more a grin than smile (EU edition) and second when he finally met his daughter in elysium in gow chain of olympus
That smile, that fuckin smile. I was convinced that Ragnarok was going to end in tragedy, Kratos dead and Atreus falling to the same dark ways that haunted his father. A true Greek Tragedy, passed on to his son. That smile? It was the moment I finally realized Kratos was going to fucking make it. Now I'm more concerned in what state of undress he and Freya will be found in when Atreus gets back from god knows where.
Unlike most people i don't think "Kratos has matured" he was always mature But he's finally being able to let go so much trauma and pain from the past that just restrained him for being a better person for himself and for his son, it's so heartwarming seeing him this vulnerable with his Atreus The perfect representation of his trust and caring on him, and Atreus conforming him, showing how much he has grown is so beautiful
The fact he said he’s sorry, those words never ever came out of his mouth till now, idc what people say this is the best character development I ever seen 🙏🏼
I don't think he was really mature or immature, he was just a very broken man who didn't have the tools to cope with the loss in his life. it had more to do with emotional immaturity then anything.
Having recently lost both my dad and my dog when this came out... I was the one who was not ready. Seeing the near indestructible rage factory that was early Kratos start to respect and care for Atreus was brilliant and still brings a tear to the eye.
The moment I’ll remember in my heart……. Atreus really heard everything a son yearns to hear from his father all his life………this also shows how to be a good father and how to treat ur son ❤
This is really something I need to hear from time to time. I'll never relive this moment in real life, but trust me when I say these moments change me for the better.
@@marlom7882 Especially when he completely forgot that Sindri’s house is a safe haven from Odin’s grasp, so he shouldn’t have had any concerns at least telling Kratos where he’s been, which makes him look like an idiot. I get that Tyr turned out to be Odin but that’s beside the point
Atreus: Don't be sorry, father. Be better. Kratos: *Grins and stands up with the Leviathan axe in hand. Also, Kratos: Nobody talks to me that way. I'm a fucking God of war. Beheads Atreus.

The look of pride on Kratos' face when he realised his son had understood the lesson he had been trying to teach all his life.....
"Don't be sorry father. Be better"
I love Kratos's character development to a caring father and person but hes still the badass we all love
He was a caring father. But he lost that after his previous family died
Y’all simps
@@Dichotomic_Kingyou just can’t handle character development. Bro wants him to be angry forever or something.
I didn't know the OG God of War writer had a burner account. @@lordloss4584
@@Dichotomic_King Yes, because God forbid Kratos be happy for once.

After finishing the game 3 times, i just noticed at 2:57 that Kratos has the biggest smile i ever saw him do
The only real smile we've ever seen him with.

You can say about every scene of God Of War Ragnarök
" This is the best scene "
Facts 🫶
You know Kratos being genuinely happy is a rare sight. It makes me smile seeing him genuinely feel proud of his son.
Kratos: I'm sorry.
Atreus: Hi, sorry, I'm Boy!
That smile, that fuckin smile.

Wait you think He and Freya...
Well, he owes her a son afterall... He also may add more than one as a free gift 😂

Kratos was only so hard on Atreus because he didn't want to lose him, like he lost his old family.

It's crazy how the original creator of Kratos hates this NEW Kratos..how can you hate this Kratos..like how?!
I guess some people love to see people like Kratos always on edge.
That scene was so beautiful 🥹
for the first time i saw kratos smile in this years
2:55 Was... was that a fucking smile... O:
As many times as i have played this game, i don't think i've ever heard Kratos use a contraction.
can you imagine young kratos in this scene
Ok now to be fair it’s not like Artreus never gave Kratos a *reason* to be angry and distrustful with him
This scene never felt earned for me
@@ryanhowe5753 exactly. I get Atreus wanting to be more independent and autonomous but he constantly snuck around and made stupid decisions to do that
