The perfectionist squirrel's laconicism resonating with Kratos is appropriate considering that Spartans were famously economical in their speech. In fact the area of Laconia was interchangeable with Sparta.
The bit where he like the "laconic" squirrel is especially funny, considering the Spartans are the origin of the word laconic, as they were famously terse and their lands were also called Laconia.
It's these small interactions that I love more about Ragnarok than the last game. Everyone raves in the game about Atreus growing up but even Kratos changed a lot between games. I like to think the Norns closed the cave because they knew Kratos would come back for the horse.
seeing kratos be human truly is a treat
Finds Fenrir: Finally. A giant beast that doesn’t want to kill me and is absolutely loyal. About time.
The World Serpent: I can't believe gramps forgot about me...
Seeing kratos evolve into this breaks any man down we've followed this man whole journey and to see him turn into this from the rage filled man he once was is amazing truly brings a smile to your face and puts a tear in your eye

It's a side of him that hasn't existed since when he left his wife and daughter to fight that fateful battle that resulted in his service to Ares.
It's kind of funny. We got to see _both_ sides of masculinity through Kratos.

Honestly these kinds of moments are why Christopher Judge was an inspired choice for post GOW3 Kratos. He exudes the kind of casual wisdom energy that fits a being as old and as beaten down as Kratos, able to express the breath of emotions that is also needed for a man who was rebuilding himself with a loving partner and now has been trying to keep that progress going with his son and the very select friends he has in his life.
I wobder why T.C. Carson wasn't cast as Kratos again.

It could of been a number of reasons
Availability
Maybe He didn't want to come back
Or it could of just been that they didn't think he still fit as the voice for this new era of Kratos as a character.
@@KenshiImmortalWolfthe reason was a change in creative direction. Judge just fit better with what they're were going for physic and all

Considering she’s possibly Atreus’ stepmom & *_ALL_* the other Valkyries/Shield Maidens are his step-aunts, I’ll roll with it
Who would've thought he'd appreciate praise?
Also Mimir is a complete savage at the end
It's not the praise, it's more about him changing when he thought he'll never could, everyone saw him as a monster, a destroyer of worlds and now everyone sees him as the saviour of the eight realms
@@izzitaki6351 yeah that's what I meant, most of the things he hears about himself probably doesn't make him feel proud, glad the white behemoth can finally find peace in such a jacked up life.

“Yeah, on my jawline, you see?”
“Is it?”
“The hell is an Olive?” That made me chuckle.

didn't expect GoW: Ragnarok to have the most brutal kill in the entire franchise, damn Kratos
I like how Kratos was able to find more people to be with in this game, instead of being all alone at the end like in the OG games.
The laconic squirrel line killed me. Sparta was the chief city of Laconia.
_"the hell's an olive?"_
I fuckin love just- the sheer incredulity in his voice X'D
Kratos has had some of the best progression I’ve ever seen in a character. I like that he’s more open now, has friends, and is willing to let joy into his life now. He deserves it.

Mimir the smartest man alive and he doesn't know what an Olive is?
They aren't native to scandanavia
I mean he didnt know enough about the ghost of sparta to recognize him either, so im guessing his knowledge is largely limited to scandinavian/nordic stuff
Well, seeing as he’s traveled and learned of Scottish folklore, Celtic, knows iconic Greek stories and that Greek gods suck, even knows and was part of Arthurian legend, ancient Egyptian culture, was in a Shakespeare play, was a part of Robin Hoods merry men, and made it to Norse. You’d expect he’d no about olives but I guess he didn’t try every Morsel of food
You don't have to be the source of infinite knowledge to be the smartest man alive.
If he really know everything then Odin wouldn't have risk his life for some dumb mask. Just have Mimir sit on his lap all day telling him stories and feeding him with knowledge.
Obviously there are gaps in his knowledge
6:11 I want to call Kratos a beefcake too 🥺
"How about you brother? Any pre-fimbülwinter foods yer aching for?"

The perfectionist squirrel's laconicism resonating with Kratos is appropriate considering that Spartans were famously economical in their speech. In fact the area of Laconia was interchangeable with Sparta.
Seven minutes of Kratos being surprisingly adorable.

The bit where he like the "laconic" squirrel is especially funny, considering the Spartans are the origin of the word laconic, as they were famously terse and their lands were also called Laconia.
Kratos to Atreus: *WATCH YOUR TONE BOY*
Kratos to big doggo: HAHA GOOD BOI

Idk why but that sigh just absolutely killed me first time I saw that 😂😂
3:11 Seeing as the word Laconic comes from Laconia, the region of Greece where Sparta was - Kratos liking the laconic squirrel is really neat
I’m happy to know Kratos likes things. I mean I always assumed, but never expected olives and a poem. What a time to be alive.
i like how at 1:53 kratos chooses the pit of spikes, remembering how many pits with spikes there were in greece
It's these small interactions that I love more about Ragnarok than the last game. Everyone raves in the game about Atreus growing up but even Kratos changed a lot between games. He's still short with convseration and grunts when he answers, but he says thank you regularly to Brok and Sindri, and even calls Mimir brother right back. Compare to at the start of last game, all that mattered to him was spreading Fayes ashes and then heading right back home to brood
2:59 Lol perfectionist squirrel can be such a mood sometimes

Jetstream Sam after facing off with Kratos: "This is what happens when you bring a tool to a sword fight!"
They wrote Kratos' character so well that every one of those rare moments he shows a more human emotional side, it feels earned and hits kinda hard.

I appreciate Kratos now equally as much as he was before, I do wish they were different characters in a way. Vengeance filled Kratos was such an outstanding character that portrayed his rage very well, meanwhile this more retired God of War with his son is equally a pleasing experience with cold distance but still warmed by the occasional wholesome moment. I enjoy Kratos' character, both of them.
But if they're separate characters then there's no redemption for Kratos. The Greek saga is what makes the Norse saga so satisfying
@@playstationarusu Agreed! As said, I wish they were different in a way, I enjoy them both and wouldn't really ever want them separated. Kratos is a very well built character.

Seeing Kratos express anything other than grunt or rage is strange but I love he's actually showing personality
Mimir getting excited about getting a chuckle out of Kratos is amazing
“I though Atreus would like the horse”
Atreus kept this in mind and instead gifted Kratos a horse of his own, named it Sleipnir
It's nice to see Kratos actually having a good time and not restlessly killing and protecting his loved ones every second.
Bros had it quite rough 😂
Omigosh, Angraboda's painting! It breaks my heart!
The wolf soul
Her grandma baking bread!
Drawing her dress and the wolf soul that bright vivid yellow, and how it dominates the scene _(I think Atreus convinced her to pick a favorite color!)_
2:31 I guess this means that Kratos approves of her being his future daughter-in-law.
Love these small moments, makes the game feel so much more real
Fun fact
Perfectionist Squirrel was just called Laconic here
The region of Greece Sparta is in, is called Laconia
Spartans were pretty well known for their quick witted but short responses as Kratos demonstrates multiple times
So the term Laconic (using few words) gets it's name from Spartans
Which is probably why Kratos likes Perfectionist Squirrel
