  • Hi plant lovers! I used the perlite propagation method on my variegated monstera albo. In this short video I show you how I did it, so you can also do it yourself. :) This method can also be used on many other plants. This is my first UA-cam video. Feel free to leave me some feedback. Thank you so much for watching!

    I totally loved this video! Please do more of this with other types of plants please! I’d love to see you do this with an anthurium, spygonium and even a begonia! Thank you and again, I really enjoyed the simplicity of this video and the music was spot on too…it kept me very entertained and I learned a lot!

    That’s not fair you showed cutting just a leaf with no node and then the actual plant in the description or in the video has two leaves with a note attached. I really don’t think you’re gonna get growth with just a leaf and stem cut without a node.

      Sorry, I don't have any updates. The plant has been with a new owner for a while now. 😊

    Once it roots in perlite can you keep it in there for longer? Or would it be bad for the root

    Should I place this on a heating mat and should I keep it covered or uncovered

      I used exactly what's shown in this video: a clear container, perlite, water and a cutting of course. You don't need to cover it or use a heat mat. It's an option, but not neccesary. 😊

    Hi,
    Do we keep adding water at 1/3 level every 2weeks or so? Or it’s just once at the beginning?

      I keep the water level at 1/3. When I water my plants (once a week), I check if I need to add a little bit water

    Do you use any rooting hormone before placing it in the perlite?

      I did not, but you can add some rooting hormone

    That was a very small air root can you show what it looks like now in soil?

    • @roffaplants8202
      @roffaplants8202  Рік тому

      Sorry, I don't have the plant anymore. But the rooting went well. I prefer to pot a cutting in soil with a small root, but feel free to let the root grow a bit larger.

      @@roffaplants8202 I always thought it was very risky to pot something without secondary roots lol especailly an albo. I wanted to take a couple cuts of mine and they have small aerial roots already so I was just considering just putting it in water to let it grow out more before potting. I just never seen someone grow a root with no aerial root.

      I always make sure the small root is actively growing before potting up the cutting. I've used this technique probably at least ten times with albo cuttings (but many times more with other monstera and philodendron). For me it always works! Never had an albo die on me so far. In the end, it always depends on your style of care and the living conditions you can provide. :)
