This episode is an homage to: Indy Jones, Goonies, LOTR, Sinbad movies, Godzilla, Aliens, Zelda and so much more. Very cool. And when Hunter says, “You’re making this up as you go” is a direct quote from Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark. And the “heart of the mountain” is exactly what they call the Arkenstone!
That thing sounds like the Zilo Beast in Clone Wars that Palpatine ordered be cloned, but never followed up because of cancellation. Looks like they're doing it on Bad Batch.
I get why people might not like this episode, but I think a goal of this season (so far) is to give Omega an opportunity to learn with a hands-on approach, as well as knowing how to enjoy herself. The first episode had her save the crew's life with her ship knowledge. The second episode had her realize when to let go of something valuable when the danger overwhelms the payoff. While I believe this episode was the most filler yet this season, it still gave Omega an adventurous yet careless role model that might influence her in a negative way. If put in the position again, Omega would likely go after the War Chest spoils instead. In short, although it isn't much progress, it spices up Omega's character a tiny bit. You're free to say that my opinion is UA-cam btw.
I think she may influence Omega in a positive way. The Bad Batch were raised in a militaristic, structured environment and while they can think on their feet, they’re not the most imaginative or creative. Phee seems like the Ying to Hunter & CO’s Yang. 😂 NGL, I kind of ship them. She seems to get under Hunter’s skin, but that could just be a twinge of jealousy. Haha!
This felt like a story right out of the Doctor Aphra comics! So glad we are finally getting weird awesome stories like this in the animated shows! You know, outside of the Mortis Gods/World Between Worlds. 😂
Yep I was getting Zeffo vibes from it, but the Zeffo was a peaceful civilization which only built machines to protect their wisdom, like they knights in the tombs. So I was kind of more drawn towards the theory that this could have been a weapon from the Rakatan Empire. Tbh I don't know that much about the Rakatan, but I know they had a forge that could create powerful weapons, and since they clearly state in the episode that it is ancient, it could be possible. Hopefully we get an answer.
Omega is a pre - teen to young teen and was very sheltered. Expect her to act age appropriate. I did not understand the point of this episode, but I am trusting that it is planting something for future episodes.
Regardless of Omega’s age, she has led a very sheltered life on Kamino then a Hunter centric existence with the Bad Batch ( with Wrecker and others as brothers). Emotionally, she closer to 12 year old.
Okay Greg sees the vision of Hunter and Phee lol I'm glad it wasn't just me. I think Phee serves as maybe a mother figure for Omega shes giving her a different type of adventure than her missions with the bad batch. Shes a kid lol

Maybe a Dune reference too. Dune is basically post Terminator universe. Machine made to mold the mind of a man is seen as sacrilege. Androids did exist 10, 000 prior, but no more. Which is why everyone uses spice as substitute.
@@cyberfilmproductions8987 we don’t always need episodes with old characters, the bad batch is just trying to make a living after the purge. People always want something that foreshadows another thing that’s been mentioned before
Reference to "Kingdom of Elways" associated with the chalice hunt named at the end: reference to Cary Elwes of "The Princess Bride" fame? It wouldn't be the first time Star Wars borrowed and retooled a person's name for a location.
I think that nerf nugget delivery really did a number on him. He has actually seemed really distant since episode 1 of this season. He immediately didn't want to take the first treasure job, didn't even have any idea that Tech and Wrecker and Omega went off on their own last episode, and now this episode he is on yet another unsuccessful treasure hunt. Giving me the "I'm a dad now and really need to settle down" vibes so far. Also he got more developed last season, now it seems Tech and Echo are.
I found this episode as just okay, but I feel like the heart of the mountain will come back into play, maybe even an inspiration for the Death Star's Canon. Maybe they used a similar stone before going to Kyber?
Their armor is getting more and more piecemeal as it wears out and they replace pieces with whatever they can find. See from that eye? You mean Wrecker's cybernetic replacement eye? Yes, he can see out of it. "She put her hand in their like she was force sensitive". No, she put her hand in their like she she was feeling the movement of the air.
Is the Heart supposed to be derived from a Kyber Crystal given the “crystalline stone of great power” remark? Also a character point for Omega - she’s enamored by Phee’s life while ignoring Hunter’s remarks. She’s losing the Daddy’s girl and looking for new heroes.
Could just be me but I was getting subtle vibes that Hunter was somewhat jealous of Phee. Because Omega is not paying as much attention to him as she used to and wanting to tag along with Phee. He probably feels like that Omega will eventually want to leave the gang to go with her which might explain why he was being somewhat hostile to Phee.
Filler? Hell no! We discovered a crazy underground doomsday weapon which is bound to have a backstory somewhere. Possibly also might be the starting point for an episode about the same culture in a later episode.
Exactly! Every time someone labels an episode as "filler" it just makes me want to roll my eyes. None of us have any idea what will come around later in this season or in future seasons, so how can they possibly know that this is filler?
They always circle back to these "filler" episodes later on in the season. so that however they supplant the information, you can't really argue "it came out of nowhere?"
So many Lord of the rings references from you guys which I loved. The heart of the mountain moment my mind went straight to Aladdin cave of wonders lol!! This episode was fun I enjoyed it.. Im loving omega more and more she’s adorable. Great reaction Greg and Micheal xx
This was a really cool episode, I thought it was great and really fun. I especially loved the major Indiana Jones and Goonies feelings this episode gave off. It even gave off some Lord of the Rings feelings. (I mean the crystal is literally called “the Heart of the Mountain” aka The Arkenstone) I also really liked all the different Indiana Jones and Goonies references in this episode. And just like always, the animation is super beautiful, and stunning, especially all the exterior scenes on this new planet . The coloring and detail everywhere was really amazing and just so visually pleasing. I also loved the score for this episode, it really gave off the Indiana Jones feeling and felt very momentous. And everything about that giant machine monster was amazing. Whether it be it’s design, its tremendous size, the animation of it reactivating and blowing up or how intimidating it was when destroying the terrain. Overall I felt like this was such a fun episode, and I cannot wait to see next week’s episode. Although, I am hoping that they start to return to the bigger story of the show. I know there’s still 11 episodes left but I would really like for them to pick back up on it soon. Either way I can’t wait to see what will happen in the show next.
The Bad Batch & The Secret Of The Hidden, Ancient Tomb. Or, The Mummy: The Mechanical Beast Of Annihilation. I LOVED that this was very reminiscent of the Indiana Jones franchise, Brendan Fraser's The Mummy movies, and 1950s Matinee serials. I'm sure, many of Us heard John Williams' epic, iconic leitmotif from Raiders Of The Lost Ark's "The Map Room" piece, when this motley team of explorers were figuring out their own pathway to fortune and glory. THAT was one helluva weapon relic, from a time before The Republic...The Old Republic, perhaps? And, what race of beings created this kind of weapon, and for what overall purpose? And, who decided to turn it off, entombing it within a mountain? Fascinating, intriguing stuff. While watching this episode, I was wondering, in the back of my mind, what an 8-year-old Chelli Aphra is up to, in the galaxy, at this point in time? What legends are being regaled to her, setting her up for her future archaeological exploits? The biggest question, after all of this goodness, is: Where, exactly, was this junkyard that Wrecker and Omega ventured off to, and whose deserted, scrapped ship was it, that housed this compass? What were they up to? Did they know what they had in their possession? Were they protecting it, or was it something they acquired, without knowledge of what it really was meant for? THE WORLD-BUILDING...I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF IT. P.S. Can The Bad Batch at least find $omething of value, that will buy them galactic soup and Mantell Mix for a year?💰 P.P.S. Yes, I was wondering the same thing about Phee (even though, in this case, she was feeling the air coming through the mountain)...imagine if she's a Force-sensitive, and isn't even necessarily aware of it? She may just chalk up her abilities to intuition and luck. Food for thought. Greg and Mike: Your Yoda, Obi-Wan, LOTR impressions are perfect, funny, and tactful all at the same time. Thanks again, and May The Force (and The Funny) Be With You.
I saw this episode and since the beginning I said this is a filler episode. I was sighing everytime and guessing everything, but the Plot twist (for me) of the massive destruction thing and the Monster (a Zillo beast??) was unexpected. I thought that thing was a project of the Empire, but I was relieved that it got destroyed. In the end, this was a filler episode and it wasn’t good like “Faster”, just inspired in Indiana Jones and LOTR
I mean I'd rather have filler like this than the last episode. Faster was just bad from top to bottom, whereas this at least teased at some interesting things.
I loved the music on this. I was listening with both ear buds in to get the stereo. It was wonderful. Very John Williams like. Where as last week is sorta filler, sorata not, this week was all filler. But I loved this episode, thenking this is what a Indiana Jones move was supposed to be lie, I got Raiders and The Last Crusade vibes, with a little Alien and Pacific Rim thrown in there. I also was thinking escape room more that video games, but the same idea. I do think this was foreshadowing Omega's future as an Indiana Jones type. I welcome that over making her another bounty hunter. Some things I took away - something has value because a value has been placed on it. Something Moff Giddeon said about the Dark Saber in season 2 of Mando - what makes it valuable is the legend and lore surrounding it, not the item itself, Transpose that to our real life, look at things like the Stanley Cup. The cup itself doesn't have an intrinsic value, we put a value on it because it represents an accomplishment, victory over the other hockey teams, Now take this week's Heart of the Mountain. It has value because Phee puts a value on it. The only way she would be able to actually have a monetary value is if someone else wanted it and placing their own value on it. It was just a crystal by nature, and nothing valuable. It's value was that it was to shut off the gyver. And like the compass, once it's purpose was fulfilled, it no long had any value and was returned to the mountain. A fuse is valuable because it keeps too much current from flowing through wires not designed to handle the current, and starting a fire, Once the Heart was done with what it was supposed to do, it designated and was returned to the mountain. Up to now, I've been going on about materialistic value of objects. The same cannot be applied to beings. I plcce a high value on life, and seems as though so did the writer's of this episode. Hunter, even though he was annoyed by Phee's tall tales, he wasn't willing to see her get hurt, corporate sentence
Weakest episode yet. Has its moments and visually stunning. Enjoy the adventure vibes as well. I do hope to get back to the main storyline and to get Crosshair back. Hope to get Ahsoka as well.
This was definitely filler, but not in the good filler kind of way. At least last episode we got to learn more about Tech. This episode, while visually great, had nothing of substance. We don't learn anything new about anyone, gain anything or lose anything. Even the loss of the droid was brushed over like "Meh, I can just make a new one."
I think this episode was to give us an insight on Phee Genoa. She has appeared before but only has a minor amount of screen time so this episide was probably written to focus around her
Season 1 was mostly filler stories that didn't serve the larger story. It started off great and it ended pretty great too but the middle was mostly pretty meh. S2 will likely be the same
So far there's only been a couple episodes of this entire series that I really loved. Hope next week's is a little deeper lol because even though I didn't hate the past two episodes they didn't really do much for me and I'm getting tired of the filler feeling I have when the episode's end.
I did not like this episode.. it just had like no bearing on anything it seemed complete filler I wish they took the opportunity to insert some extra lore in the episode or just something that we didn't know before
Both of you make WAY to many "funny" comments and quips Near as I can extrapolate, the massive mechanoid Colossus is likely a war machine from several thousands of years ago, and the crystal-stone is a Kill-switch & Overload Device meant to switch off the mechanoid and can also overload and fry all internal systems, (it may even be partly made of Kyber crystal) the episode was massive homage to all the Indiana Jones movies, and inspired elements of classic sci-fi anime and video games like Castle in the Sky Laputa (the robot sentry), major inspiration from Shadow of the Colossus, and other sources of late 80's and 90's Japanese anime Sci Fi (Genesis Survivor Gaiarth, etc) which all pre-date the video games and such your referencing.... there's subtle evidence that Dave Filoni is a HUGE fan of classic anime films and other old school sci-fi and fantasy anime from the 90's, though he may not admit it if asked...
That was extremely fascinating! I'm super curious if we'll find out what that thing's origin was. But I didn't like that she was conveniently knowledgeable about this place that is older than the Jedi Order and nobody has visited for ages and that she knew exactly what to do all the time.
idk this episode was good i guess, it could've been better without a few things. my main issue with the first season is that the dialogue and some characters didn't feel flushed out enough, and almost corny at times. i personally felt this way about Wanda sykes character idk it just didnt do it for me. the plot could've really carried this episode and made it a hit for me if her character hadnt been so front and center and it focused more on the bad batch by themselves. idk it felt like we didn't see much of them this episode. for me her corniness outweighed the good parts. it felt like i was watching a show for a 7 year old lol. this episode felt very filler
Flop of an episode. Stop making excuses. Y’all said random things and laughed for most of the review. This was a waste of time. Nothing for the story, plot, or characters…🤷🏾♂️💀

Say you haven't played Jedi: Fallen Order without actually saying you haven't played Jedi: Fallen Order
Weakest episode yet. Has its moments and visually stunning. Enjoy the adventure vibes as well. I do hope to get back to the main storyline and to get Crosshair back. Hope to get Ahsoka as well.
Did anyone get Indiana Jones vibes from the soundtrack this episode?
Great Reaction 👍
Aw shucks thank you!
I thought the episode would of been fine if it was a binge show but I really don't like filler episodes in week to week series.
good thing clone wars isn’t airing rn
Love your video
S2 will likely be the same
You're filler.
you literally can't determine if this is filler without having seen the rest of the season...you're just flat out being stupid ^^
They're making some stuff for kids too.
Horzion Zero dawn walker 😆
I hate these missions they are doing we go out and find something we find it we lose it and go home
Where’s the other guy
the giant robot kinda reminds me of the robots from Iokath in the swtor game
I want to say Mech, Zillow beast would anybody agree?
Mechagodzilla in this B…. 😆
well it says 5 where im looking
they really need to stop teasing this Cal Kestis appearance and just do it already.
Probably my least favorite episode ever from both seasons
We need an Office-style comedy series that follows 2 storm troopers.
I saw several people saying this online and it would honestly be an incredibly fresh take on the universe.
PLEASE,WAITING FOR PUSS IN BOOTS LST WISH REACTION,BEST ANIMATED MOVIE IN YEARS,A MASTER PIEACE
Mechagodzillo beast
How is this the first filler episode what about last week.
So far there's only been a couple episodes of this entire series that I really loved. Hope next week's is a little deeper lol because even though I didn't hate the past two episodes they didn't really do much for me and I'm getting tired of the filler feeling I have when the episode's end.
How dare yall consider this filler, introduced the most crucial character to all of star wars: Mel, modified Gonk
Omega repeating so many phrases got pretty annoying tbh
Hey, a jelly donut is useless without filler ;)
The Filler Batch...
😅
SW Rules ...
Loved it ❤
This episode $ucked.
I did not like this episode.. it just had like no bearing on anything it seemed complete filler I wish they took the opportunity to insert some extra lore in the episode or just something that we didn't know before
Both of you make WAY to many "funny" comments and quips
Near as I can extrapolate, the massive mechanoid Colossus is likely a war machine from several thousands of years ago, and the crystal-stone is a Kill-switch & Overload Device meant to switch off the mechanoid and can also overload and fry all internal systems, (it may even be partly made of Kyber crystal)
the episode was massive homage to all the Indiana Jones movies, and inspired elements of classic sci-fi anime and video games like Castle in the Sky Laputa (the robot sentry), major inspiration from Shadow of the Colossus, and other sources of late 80's and 90's Japanese anime Sci Fi (Genesis Survivor Gaiarth, etc) which all pre-date the video games and such your referencing....
there's subtle evidence that Dave Filoni is a HUGE fan of classic anime films and other old school sci-fi and fantasy anime from the 90's, though he may not admit it if asked...
It was annoying. I hated it.
how is this filler and that pod racing crap wasnt?
Show with the most one dimensional characters
This series was great in season 1. It's lost its way in Season 2. There is no underlying storyline, just random situations that are nonsense
Definitely personally not interested in another useless treasure hunt episode
Y’all complain about everything holy shit
@@qiraxtition6417 it's why I've removed myself from the SW community, because now when I watch a new episode, I automatically pick it apart to hell in my head and then immediately think about how someone somewhere is going to have a problem with it and I'll inevitably have to hear about their complaining when I all I want to do is just enjoy the episode. Literally, my first thought five minutes into this episode was a disappointed sigh followed by "they're gonna hate this and I'm gonna get to hear more complaining." And what do you know, an hour after the episode came out, and here we are
@@jneumy566 exactly, like if you Don’t like the episode don’t complain about it, at least be humble that you get to see more Star Wars content, that’s actually really good, and I don’t understand what the top comment said about “another treasure” episode ? There wasn’t another treasure map/compass this season ? People like to complain about everything it just pisses me off
@@jneumy566 exactly I don’t know why they complain, they just be saying anything at this point,
@@qiraxtition6417 “we should just happy the company is giving us a product we payed for, so no one should have any criticism at all”
Phee is the female Hondo! LOL
This seasons only good episode was the one with no bad batch members in it
Haha yup!
Kinda like Book of Boba….
What a boring episode. I literally slept.
Guys Puss in Boots the last wish reaction?
These bad batch episodes have been really shitty lately, even kids think they have no purpose to SW universe
@Matthew Short i agree with him. They suck except for the crosshair ep.
Ah yes another filler
This episode was dogwater
Dave must have an under the table agreement with Guerilla Games. This was obviously a big promotion for the Horizon series.
